  • Here's a chance to see two classic MVT rifles from Daystate. A very nice pair of rare shooters and a pleasure to shoot, both of which belong to the Robert Taylor collection.

The GP was shooting high before you adjusted the scope because you were resting the cylinder on the rifle rest which will also push up the cylinder and barrel shroud and barrel.

Hi. I own Air Wolf MVT No 2431. After shooting a selection of the then “best Air Rifles”, I traded them all in against a factory new MVT.
It is without doubt the most accurate Air Rifle that I’ve shot. It’s a better weapon than I am a marksman...although it gives such confidence, that long range shooting (65 to 80 yards), is well within my scope and good, tight groups are easily achievable.
I chose .177 because of the flat trajectory and this has made long range shooting that much easier. 2431 shoots most pellets well and when I took her to the range, I ran nine types of pellets through her. Biz Mags were favourite, closely followed by FX Pellets but lighter pellets have less drop on them, so the Biz Mags got left behind and I use Daystate’s own brand.
Because 2431 is so accurate, I married her up to a Schmidt Bender Varmint Scope....wrong scope really but I’ll trade in that and a few others and get into Thermal Sights, as that’s the way to go.
Advice for those of you thinking of getting into hunting, or target shooting: You can spend a lot of money on Rifles but the MCT / MVT Rifles are superb....buy once and be satisfied forever.
It was nice to see a video about the AW MVT.....a little known rifle but possibly Daystate’s best, so well done to you! 👍🏻👍🏻 😊

Another interesting video you've put together. The Daystate Airwolf MVT looked very accurate indeed and the Vortex scopes' glass was excellent for the money. At one point when the camera roamed around your garden a little, I thought the solar powered Dragonfly was gonna get it and that maybe you'd been in lockdown too long...lol.🤣 Good work m8 keep it up.😁

If I may add a few points Mark. The inconsistent Chrono readings and to some extent the vertical groups of both rifles were caused by the changing of pellets ! The MVT system takes a "native" Speed at the start of each session (after power on off) as well as 5 minutes of inactivity. The "native" can as you know be changed by the user in a programming mode to suit each pellet and keep within the UK Legal power limit. Both rifles rely on the Previous recorded shot to calculate the time to open the main valve on the rifle as well as the "native" on the first shot.. so vertical stringing and wide changes in pellet speed result... this will normally be calculated within 3-5 shots of a session start or pellet change. Once set Ive recorded a difference of just 4FPS across 40 shots with decent pellets. As far as accuracy, I've bench clamped the GP and shot 10 shot groups at 40 yards.. resulting in a single hole 6mm group of 10 shots with 4.5mm .177 Daystate FT Pellets 10.3gn with speed set at 720FPS (11.8 ftlb). Both rifles are now 10 years old... if Daystate have learnt anything over the past 10 years the New Delta Wolf which also has MVT will be Amazing. And as you did ask.. the next rifle to enter my cabinets is a Delta Wolf !!!

Hi mark beautiful rifles . Can you do a video on cleaning air rifle barrels when and with what etc etc , me being ex military , cleaning every time I finish shooting seem the right thing to do, What’s Right and wrong , some of the guys tell me only clean after 5000 shoots .

Your mate must have spent a fortune. I know myself how airrifles depreciate in value. But that is his hobby and fair do's. You said when you were shooting ( this is the only gun you will ever need) I am a big believer in realy realy mastering one gun, possibly two ie 177 22 if you hunt. I'm probably only jealous. Keep it up well done

The second gun you shot seemed not good, why I'm saying that is you do not get flyers to that extreme with bisley magnums

Probably me Michael. Rob can shoot it fine. I had a problem getting comfortable with it, as I am not used to the rifle. The Air Wolf felt more comfortable for me. Hamsters and things, I am not quite used to.
