Hello, this is the first time I see a video of yours. Almost every day I write down each expense in a large notebook and round up the numbers. I have 3 bank accounts, 1 for income and all expenses, 1 for groceries and 1 for savings. I have 10 subcategories but I need 20, they are listed online but are like the envelopes. Can I ask you what you do with the money you over budget? I really enjoyed this video and learned from it 💫📝
I LOVE you being unashamed of not drinking alcohol. I’m the same way. People aren’t always understanding, but it works for us! It’s so encouraging to hear you talk about it on a large platform like this.
The spending on your health and fitness is really insurance of a sort for your future health. Don’t feel guilty or worry about it - obviously if you can afford it… plus the no alcohol. You are setting up your future health optimally!
Hello from Chicago! First time watching a video of yours and love how relaxed and realistic this is. Also love how you emphasize spending money on the things you love and that serve your lifestyle.
Sharing how you budget is such a vulnerable move but appreciated by many! you seem to really be paying attention to what you want to prioritize. Safety. Health. Self care. Those are all great things 🤗 I love that you are doing your best to live your life in the moment. Don’t listen to the people who think what they pay or save should be what everyone else does too 😜 everyone has an opinion 😂
I love your videos I get so excited when my phone pings that there is a new upload. I am living out my dream of living in New York dream through your videos. This was so informative and interesting to watch ❤
Having done the Manhattan studio recently, how on earth did you find a unit in a Doorman building with laundry and unit in lower Manhattan for only $3000? I couldn’t find anything close to that less expensive parts of the city. Did you get some kind of special deal?
This inspired me to revisit my own budget 😆 getting my first paycheck this week and I'm trying soooo hard not to fall into the trap of girl mathing my money away
hi hi!! i have a lil saving tip in regards to books on your kindle: you can get an e-library card from the NYPL, that connects to the Libby app and then you can download books to your kindle for free! If you keep your kindle in airplane mode while you're reading your book, and it's overdue, then it won't leave your kindle til you connect it back to WiFi :) I'll download like 3-5 books at a time and just keep it in airplane mode for however long i need to finish all of the books.
Thank you so much for sharing! I also work in advertising and seeing an estimate of what you earn at your job is making me sooo mad at my employer 😂 A bit unrelated, but if you don’t have library cards from BPL or QPL, you should get them! Their catalogues are fantastic and you get to read for free. The only catch is loans are for 14-21 days, but there are plenty of things that are constantly available and you can renew them.
Interesting... Your rent seems very high and more than the 33% income suggested usually. Also why are you staying on Manhattan instead of New Jersey, if you're working there? It seems you will save a little bit? Since we don't see the saving parts and retirement parts of your budget, it's hard to figure out if it's well balance. Just curious 😊. You seems to make a really high salary, what's your role and the agency your working for?
I recommend doing an investment budget video as well for financial education, not advice. (How much contributing, types of accounts, and what types of indexes)
Hey - if you're trying to read more articles - you may want to see if your local library has access to "press reader". My library has access to it and it has the current Economist & Foreign Affairs & similar business magazines for free. There's definately a benefit of print (I'm considering getting a print economist subscription myself to be able to get some non screen time) but wanted to call it out if you want to read other magazines.
Loved the video! Since you’re on your laptop so often, you may want to up your ergonomic game. Consider getting a laptop stand so your screen is at eye level and you’re not bending your neck to see the screen, a keyboard so you don’t have to reach up to type and a mouse so you’re not straining your shoulder trying to reach the laptop scrolling pad. Your future older self will thank you!
Question- in video you said you were studying for the GMATs, how come? Most MBA programs do not require it anymore. Are you studying for a prestigious university, if so, which one?
Have you thought of getting a roommate next year? since you don’t cook and don’t use your apt gym I wonder if it’s worth it to pay for a studio apartment in a building with amenities.
I mention clothes! Medical costs are taken out of my paycheck! All the other stuff falls in other categories. Travel is usually from savings but I don’t travel a ton!
A budgeting RUclipsr i watch that also lives in NYC talks about something called the future card that gives tons of rebates for using public transportation. Might be good for you.
What are u planning on using your MBA MBA for? A lot of the typical job outcomes from top programs have terrible WLB. I’d kill for my schedule to look like yours, but alas the golden handcuffs…

I agree. Eventually you want to buy an asset, like a condo or house because renting is not an investment and is really just a money sinkhole. City is a short-term lifestyle just for fun. And can't do any significant investing on this small income in the city. And what's the 'excitement' of the city if you're working in Jersey and going out to ballet once and a couple of plays.
