Nice idea, practically demonstrate / excercise on how to find the home note, about 60% right and will do it again. Loved it. Special thanks to the special guest 😃.
Thanks for showing us that Jamie and Jasmine. I never thought of doing that and have always struggled with finding the key. I got about 15 right so it should work for me 75% of the time!
I’m still learning and have a way to go but I managed to get about 95% right so I’m really chuffed!! My ultimate goal is to play with a band and this is a great bit of knowledge to have ; thanks guys xx
That was an eye opener. I was surprised how easy it was even though if you had asked me beforehand I would have predicted I would have failed miserably.
What's the opposite of perfect pitch? Because that's what I have! Even if I could hum the right note, I wouldn't be able to say what it is. Having said that, keep up the good work.
This is great, I never would’ve thought of this method and I surprised myself by getting 15/20 using it! Thanks Jasmine for teaching me something so effective.
Thanks. Perfect pitch is not as important as relative pitch. By the way, perfect pitch is very rare, and no more common among musicians than among the general population.
Wow. This is a fantastic exercise! Genius idea! I did the first 10 and had to stop due to a time constraint. I will do those 10 over and the rest a bit later. I guessed something on nearly every one and I was right about 50% of the time. No chance on #8 - for that one I could even come up with a guess. No note entered my head at all for #8
very cool. I got them all! Interestingly though, I only heard the major tonic when you said it could be either or. I like Jasmine's method of "where is this going". That's probably how I do it unconsciously. Before adopting Jasmine's method, I'd often land incorrectly on the perfect 5th.
wow amazing ears! i cannot get what note it is by hearing it. do you have any more beginner exercises to learn how to train the ear to recognize notes? Also confused with transposition from piano (C) to sax (Eb), do you do that on the spot or the notes you mentioned are not transposed. Sorry for the naivety, i am at the beginning of my music journey.
@@GetYourSaxTogether thank you so much Jamie, i just purchased this course, nice one can train online. Do you think people are born with musical ear able to identify pitches, notes, or it can be learned by most of us :-) It seems so tough.... i have the ultimate respect for the abilities of musicians, only now i realise how much work and efforts it takes to learn music...
@@GetYourSaxTogether Are you doing it yourself? I had a “soundproof “ music room (shed) built in my garden a few months ago. I love it. After 16 years I finally have some where I can play as loud as I want, spread out all my toys and spend time trying to become a better musician. Only issue is the internet is rubbish. So doing the improvisation master course is difficult.
I loved this!!! I had to watch the second half a few times. I feel a little rusty, I got lucky number 13! Not too shabby for not training my ear regularly, I get to practice more and more!! Everyone in my family thought I was a little crazy actually knowing some of it lol Also LOVED the special guest, great musician!!
Hello sir i am a indian Carnatic saxophone player and I am interested to learn western music on sax.can u please help me to know the basics of western saxophone music
Hello Jamie, I need an explanation, how can you tell if a track is played in this key when the chords are changing every seconds ? In jazz for example everything moves so fast, I mean, it's never the same key, it often switch from minor to major so how can we define the key ? Thanks.
Nice idea, but it presumes you know what the note sounds like and not really useful for the vocally challenged :-) Also wasn't sure whether I was supposed to be guessing the concert pitch note or the transposed sax note.
Hi Pete - not 100% what you mean by “presumes you know what the note sounds like”? I’m not presuming anything, especially not vocal skills. Listen to my voice!! 😭 I think maybe you’re over thinking it. You don’t need to get the name of the note, just sing it. Forget sax pitch or concert pitch, just go “laaaaaah” on the right key note. 😊
Had fun with that. I had a little trouble with it.
Well done. 👌🏻
Brilliant idea, your lessons are never boring. My daughters won' t never take part on a lesson like your daughter did. Thank you for that.........🎷
Yeh, my son won’t! Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
Not just very funny but also very instructive to see the method in practice! It is not as hard or as magical as I thought. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Jaime - Jasmine thanks very much really great video explained this so well

Love these type of videos! Thankful for an excellent set of ears 😄 more of such pls!! :)
Cheers Ben. 👍🏻
great exercise. I could get the major or minor correct and sing the correct pitch but naming the not so easy,
Yeh it might take some time. Well done though!
Super useful. I loved the quiz feature (and the addition of your daughter). Fun, and I'll be doing it again to get better at this.
Glad you enjoyed it!

It's called Relative pitch, most who say they have perfect pitch, really have great relative pitch.
This is incredibly helpful! Have you got more of that stuff? Recognizing keys aso?
That’s it for now! Sorry.
This is great, I never would’ve thought of this method and I surprised myself by getting 15/20 using it! Thanks Jasmine for teaching me something so effective.
Yay! Well done. 👍🏻
Am always amazed that if I hum a song, then I can play it...got 18 right..thanks Jamie and Jasmine
Great score! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I did rather well in this exercise. This was quite helpful.
Awesome.
Superb! Great examples. BTW: Love the expression “dodgy”.
😂 Thanks for watching!
Maybe 4 to 5 correct, good exercise. I had a clarinet teacher many moons ago and she had perfect pitch.

Another belting lesson thanks
I find since starting to use my tuner app also helps
Cool. Thanks for watching. 😊
Really helpful. Thank you. Please on next video tech us how to get perfect pitch.
Can’t teach you that I’m afraid, although I think there’s great vids on that by Rick Beato and Adam Neely.
Congrats for the video! Would it be possible to have the list of songs? Thank you!
Sorry, I think they were all just from a royalty free list on Spotify so I don’t know what they were really!
A very surprising 15, never ever thought of doing this before, great idea!!
Nice score!
Fab loved this!! nearly got them all right 😊 go ears!! x

about 16 +/-. And thanks to Jasmine!!

Now reading how everyone else did, I guess I stink at this. I wonder if practice at it will help improve things. Not being able to sing doesn’t help.
Glad you liked it!
Definitely practice will help

oh, and Jasmine, kudos on the pearls. nice touch.😁
I’ll pass it on!
Yeh, it’s common to hit the 5th as it’s a strong note. Well done!
What Instruments does Jasmine Play & Which is her Forte? Is her career going to be in Music?
Piano and voice mainly but a bit of guitar. Who knows what she’ll do, but that’s definitely an option!

3,6,2,5,1, ....1 is the key
