Amazing. Nearly a century before the Revolution. I don't know what the population of the "colonies" was at that time, but this is rare indeed.

    Should be in a museum.

I am surprised the sampler is not worth way more than $10-15 thousand dollars. There can hardly be any American colony samplers that old in existence. Plus it is incredibly well preserved for its age.

I am a member of the DAR in Southern Indiana and we have three samplers dating in the early 1800s. They are very much in need of cleaning and conservation. Can anyone suggest someone who could professionally do so?

Many years ago, I was into collecting African-American memorabilia and purchased what was described as an “authentic slave collar” from Wes Cowan’s auction house in Cincinnati, Ohio. Once received, it was obvious it was woefully misrepresented. I called the auction house and spoke with Wes Cowan personally, politely expressing my belief the item was not authentic. As God as my witness, Cowan almost instantly became belligerent and told me to “prove it!” and hung up the phone.... Apparently, he had hoodwinked others and fell into legal action, for about a year or two later he admitted the “slave collars” he sold were actually DOG collars. This guy is a schiester. Stay away.

Um, no. His valuation is dead on, because he's educated and experienced and does it all the time. He knows what the market will allow. Values are not about your feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings! I'm so sick of seeing you idiots on here saying, "IT SHOULD BE WORTH MORE BECAUSE I SAID SO WITHOUT ANY TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE!" Just shut up already.

It's mathematically impossible for this woman Grandmother to have made it. Even if her grandmother had a baby at 100 and then that baby had a baby at 100 they can't possibly span that large of a gap. It couldn't even have been her Great- Grandmother. Your talking 336 years ago.

You must have missed the very beginning of the video. I know it's been a year now, but she said at the very beginning it was her "SEVENTH" great grandmother. That's seven times great grandmother.
