The Morans saw an opportunity to sell a valuable piece , they earn a commission from the sale so the higher the value an item the happier they are to help the owner.
The story itself and the experience of selling an item like this is worth way more for the auction house than the commission, but I'm sure there's a 10% commission involved anyway.
These are the kind of stories you wait a long time to hear about, and when you do every part in your body is overflowing with joy and happiness for this man and his family. Congratulations and well deserved!!!
LT, so happy for you! It made me cry. You deserve it, man. I saw that episode of Antique Roadshow. I remember it well. Yours went way higher cause the Lord knows you need the money.
The follow up, his family... mostly his sister wanted to sue him for half the money..the story goes there were 2 blankets at dead grandma's house in a sack, the sister took the other one and threw this blanket on the floor and and said she did not want that dirty old nasty blanket so he kept it. Good for him and she was out of luck..lol. He bought 2 houses, 1 as a rental property for income, a new Harley and a new pickup truck and said he invested some of the money.
@@joyceb8407 I heard she dropped the charges. Regardless of how you percieve value of the heir given to you; you should must show some courtesy of someone's Will. But fuck that its her loss LoL.
The first Antiques Roadshow Navajo blanket we experienced on television owned by the elderly gentleman whose blanket was sitting on the back of a chair as he explained it, ended up in the Detroit Art Institute. The Navajo blanket that Big LT owns and put up for auction appears just as rare, and the net proceeds couldn't have come at a better time. Good luck LT.
OMG I love this story! I’ve never seen it before. As I was watching the original show that this man seen, I was the next up and I thought it’d be interesting to watch. It took my breath away. Such a genuine guy that really needed a break and boy did he get it! So happy for him and his wife. Great video ❤️
You can't enjoy seeing people wildly blessed AND at the same time have the attitude of what's mine is mine .... or what's theirs is theirs (the Navajos). I choose JOY in seeing someone blessed. At least we can be pretty confident that it is being preserved and taken care of just as well as if it would've gone back to the Navajos.
I had to stop because I am crying. This man deserves what the bid comes to. You can tell a good soul and this man has one. God bless this man.i AM BACK 1.5 MIIL. WOW.
I was crying with them. They seem like such a deserving couple! He’s doing fortunate the blanket was kept in good shape and that he found a reputable auction house to handle the sale.
This is one of those stories which just makes my heart sing! I am so happy for this man that he was able to benifit from the sale of this blanket and also to know that it is going to be cared for by someone who is willing to spend that much to buy it! Winners all around!
Wasn't a family heirloom, it was on my grandmother's back porch for years and her cat's slept on it... The stain on it was where her cat had kittens on it and no one ever thought it was ever worth anything, I just kept it because after she passed away my siblings pillaged everything and i wanted at least something as a keepsake! And it was first acquired by my great great grandfather who came from Norway and started a trading post in North Dakota and i showed pictures of him 'shaking hand's' with Indian's and they were leading horses away loaded down with sacks of flour, beans, rifles and pots&pans!!!
Fantastic video of a heart warming rags to riches testimony! Way to go, John and family! Rick and I are always happy to hear success stories about your business. You have put so much into it, you deserve everything that comes your way! Sincerely - Chris Leclerc

As an employee at a Native American art museum, I would normally pull an Indiana Jones and say "It belongs in a museum." But in this case, I'm glad its value could do something wonderful for a family in need. Thanks for sharing:)

It didn't. He was arrested again and his life went down the tubes.
This really brought tears. For once someone deserving gets a huge break. I couldn't be happier for this couple. God bless and spend wisely.
What also is so heartwarming is the fact that Morans really, really wants to help this man, they saw how much the man has gone through in his life....
@@DJScopeSOFM Read the title, says it sold for 1.8 million, so likely that includes the buyers premium, so they likely made $300,000 from this sale

We met this guy today at Antique Asylum, in Palmdale. Wow what an awesome story.
Man in blue shirt and tie in the back, at 05:52, is happy for someone else's success. That's a gem of a person too.
If I were this guy, I'd LOVE to meet the buyer to thank him.
This belongs in a museum not in a private collection.
Many museum items are from private collections.
