Thanks for sharing. My father was born in Gásadalur, thats why my last name is Gaasedal. My grandmother lived there alone till she was about 85 year. At that time there was no connection to the village, she had to walk over the mountain to get what she need. In wintertime it was unable to get there with boat. In summertime they drag the boat up at that stairs. They made a movie about the village, the name was 1700 meters from the future, because the tunnel was 1700 meters long. If my grandmother should visit her children, she had to walk over mountains, take two car and two ferry. She used a whole day on that trip. Now you can drive all the wayin less than one hour.
