- Drangarnir is a characteristic sea stack arch in the Faroe Islands. It requires a hike to get there, but it is absolutely stunning! In this video, you'll see why returning to the same location several times is important. We also made an exclusive visit to the island of Tindholmur which gave some new and original photos. I went there four times during the first half of 2019. Twice with workshops, I did with Nick Page and twice with workshops I did with Nigel Danson. I hope you enjoy this epic video!

What a wonderful photographers playground. Nice to see Nick Page, I’ve watched quite a few of his videos in the past. The 3 photos together were absolutely stunning.
Mads, you are the greatest for me! Thank you for all you're Videos and Photos and let us dream for long time. Steph
That drone shot at 16:21... just wow !!
Wow!!! What an opportunity. And the photo you show at 11:08 is so pretty. Love the double pool with reflection in the foreground. Beautiful.
dang that place freaking amazing
Great watch again mate. Going next week can't wait.
Really like 18:44. You pair the vivid orange lichen on the rocks with softer orange glow in the sky. Brilliant!
Thank you very much :)
@@MadsPeterIversen You're welcome!
Grazing Sheep VS The Avian Pirate! (aka the Skua)! lol
Skua's are known to be an aggressive bird, and sometimes attack in teams to get what they want. It's a pretty cool bird.
Faroe Islands has incredible landscape!! I never get bored seeing this amazing place!
Thanks for sharing Mads!
Another excellent video with amazing photos - thanks for sharing. Unless you had your heart set on a specific photo & lighting condition before going there any of the images that were captured in all the different light and atmosphere conditions are real prizes.
I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop with you and Nick. As we kept saying...It was EPIC!
Thank you so much, Rick! It was a pleasure having you on board :D
Also, good you got a final shot at Fossa!
Thank you so much, Rick! It was a pleasure having you on board :D
Also, good you got a final shot at Fossa!
Brilliant thank you Mads!
Thanks a lot, Philip!
Incredible images, Mads! Thank you for another wonderful inspirational video.
Just amazing.... very top quality work.
I love the music you choose for presenting your images. I personally also love the three horizontal ones with the epic evening light the most. Well done, Mads. Great artist! :)
Totally majestic magnificent magical.I can attest to this wild pure beauty as I was there with you and Nick.Just sublime captures of as you portray it ,of the most moody beautiful
untouched places on this planet.Much thanks again.
You're welcome, Rena! Happy you liked it so much :)
Superb!!
Incredible how the conditions can change. Although I only was once together with you and Nick at this epic location, I am very happy that I had the opportunity to be there.
I'm so happy you got to go and got to experience Tindholmur too! It was a pleasure, Wilfried!
very enjoyable... some incredible shots buddy
That hazy hero shot is pretty incredible too. I find it really impressive that even the angles of Drang and Tind are mirrored by the arch of his back, turning towards the light. It’s an element I don’t think a lot of viewers would be conscious of but that really makes it a well composed and pleasing image.
Not the Faroe islands again. Yes, but don’t worry, every time you go there’s that chance of different light and moody clouds.
And You Mads did not disappoint with yet more epic shots to fall in love with.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful place.
Looking forward to seeing more.
You're welcome and thanks a lot! Wanna see something from a danish forest instead? :P
Forests are fine Mads, makes up for the total lack of trees on the Faroes.
Amazing video and the second trip I have to say was my favourite part of the video along with the 3 photos you made.
super super beautiful images, all of them.
Amazing compositions and stunning images. Love your work. Greetings from British Columbia, Canada
Fantastic video as always! Great stills!
I’ll be there in 3 weeks! I’m soooo excited!
Not kidding Mads the light you got was awesome, my fav shot is the 1st one from the second set.
Thanks Paul! It was amazing indeed :)
I really like the hero shot at 13:30 and that's a most enjoyable video, Mads. You're definitely at your best sharing your adventures and experiences of the places you love.
Faroe Islands looks like so amazing. I visit this great Country two times in my life. Your Videos are so great. I`m a big Fan of you and your videos.
Four of my favorites in one vlog. Beautiful Mads. Love your work.
These islands look amazing. Thanks for sharing these videos and your great images.
One EPIC photo after another! Absolutely stunning images.
Superb Mads. 😊 📷
Mesmerizing
It's awesome to look at your progress as a photographer. Your edits are now a lot more subtle than your first vids. Why? Because your pictures are strong enough without all these over the top effects. Good job, keep it up!
Beautiful photos. :)
Odd how ordinary all of this felt, when I lived there. I didn't really start appreciating the beauty of the Faroe Islands until I moved to Denmark 12 years ago. Not that Denmark isn't beautiful, but it's a different type of beauty. :)
fantastic Mads, been watching both yours and Nicks, looking forward to the next one
What a superb collection of photos. It must have been a unique experience. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing conditions you got. What a variance! I too really liked the photo at 13:45, but for some reason I feel that it will be more impactful in a mono version. Very interesting to see the behaviour of the Skuas - thanks for recording that bit and sharing with us. Oh, and the blueness and the wave crash in the later part is just mesmerizing. In one video you get to see almost all the faces of that beautiful place. I just hope I can make it to Faroe islands someday.
Nice to see you and Nick together 👍🏼
In my opinion it's just time to bring the entire band of photography brothers together with you, Nick, Adam, Gavin and Thomas!
I would love to see all my favourite landscape photographers in one big Expendables like happening 🤩🤟🏼
Awesome shots! One day I'll get out there...
Ooo I love that second one from the island where the reflection is broken up into two pools. Excellent use of the greens too. 👏🏻
I think this is one of my favorite video you produced.. Superb photos....
Glorious shots and so neat to see how it changed. You going to lead a workshop in the USA with Nick? I'd try to do that.
Fantastic Mads, love the different perspectives and constantly changing light. Will never forget this epic location from March. Thanks again for your inspiration
Superb as usual Mads.Well done. Ireland next.😉
Magical.
fabulous video and the images you made were truly epic. the collaboration with you and mr. nick page....... WOW !!!!!!! doesn't get much better than that. thanks
Just found you via Nick and Nigel. What an amazing series of images, very nicely shot video and narration. Subscribed!
Thank you very much, Chris! :)
A outstanding body of work Mads that emphasises the way an image can change dramatically in different conditions. As always lots of information and useful hints, Cheers
Hey , finally you are back with a place that suits better to you 😄 Great shots from Dranganir, and very interesting the several visits throughout the year, with different light conditions ! 👍
An incredible selection of images this week Mads and it must be a nice problem to have at times as to which ones make your portfolio as these were all fantastic
Thank you so much, Jim! Very true it's a luxury problem :)
Great!
Spectacular images Mads - love your compositions and processing. Could watch videos like these all day ..... where's that repeat button?
🤯I'm not sure why I cull and edit pictures and have photography videos running in the background. Sometimes it slows progress. This video brought it to a screeching halt. VERY well done!!
Now back to my run of the mill, boring landscape photos😳👍
Haha! That's a huge compliment! Thanks a lot 😁
Amazing photography love all images and the place is epic. Thank you for sharing really enjoyed watching.
You're welcome and thanks a lot :)
WOW! Great work...moving images stunningly put to video. You certainly nailed it from my perspective!
Nice :-D I just found myself in your video :-D The guy with the white fleece jacket and the handheld longexposures :-D It surely was an amazing evening/sunset
That last hero shot using yourself is EPIC man! Love the leading line of the cliff to you and how it perfectly frames Drangarnir with that hot white light burning through the arch.
Hi Mads, GREAT vlog as we have come to expect, this bring back a lot of amazing memories for me, one of the best locations on the planet, superb images, different each time you go there.
Richard.
Thank you so much, Richard! Very happy to hear that and happy we got you all out there and back again! :)
As always a great joy to watch, what a location and light! Photo's look amazing! Thanks for sharing :)
Absolute beauty. Thank you for sharing and for the photo tips.
fantastic images!
Just beautiful!! All of the images are gorgeous!!
I really enjoyed this video, as I was on the July workshop. I have been working thru my Dranganir photos this week, its an amazing location. Interesting seeing the Faroes on different dates and conditions.
It was a pleasure, Bob! And yes, absolutely stunning :)
Wish I could just magic myself there now!
And as always, I highly appreciate your fantastic content and incredible images. Liked and subscribed (long ago)
Another great video Mads and agree the map works really well. Keep up the great work.
Mads, I liked the video very much HOWEVER, it sure would be most appreciated if you could include with each of your photos; lens used and camera settings......PLEASE
Hi, Dave, thanks a lot. I don't include camera settings because it'll only confuse. You can't use my settings for anything.
Absolutely amazing shots and a stunningly brilliant video. Would love to go there one day and hopefully when and if I do I can produce something half as good as these simply beautiful
very enjoyable, and informative vlog Thank you Mads, for the landscape eye candy.
Stunning video! Wow what a location 😍 I MUST GO
I love your videos and I wish I could be a little younger and could carry all these gear with me !!!! Thanks and I'm looking forward to more ......
I really like your videos and those landscape shots. Those locations are great and I want to go there someday too! Though every time there is a "human element" in the picture I am editing it out in my mind and the photo looks way way better for my taste :-)
I must return again one day ... but the 10 hour round trip was a killer 😱😬 . Derek .... 😀
You sure must! :)
A great job , the photos are magnificent I like the colors congratulations 👏👏👏
Beautiful photos!
Thank you for the great content. I hope one day be able to make it to the Faroe Islands.
Awesome stuff, Mads! When are we going again? :)
2020 ;)
Great video and photos as always. Very good job! I dream to go with you ;)
Thanks a lot! I hope to see :)
Great video, I'd love to go to FI some time. I find your voice and accent relaxing.
Hehe thanks a lot, you're actually not the only one who thinks that. Happy to hear it :)
@@MadsPeterIversen You're most welcome, your English is excellent (a lot better than my Danish anyway). Keep up the good work.
Great video Mads! I can't wait to go here! Iceland first though...lol
I have been to both but must say the Faroe Islands are MUCH more beautiful.
Great photos!
Simply beautiful, still waiting for you and Sean Bagshaw to join up.
Would love to meet him and do whatever, he seems like a really nice guy :)
10:35 looks a bit like a Scene from a Fantasy or SiFi Movie .......love it 👍👍👍
What's your Camera you are using here, a d is it weather and dust sealed like the Pro Canons or Nikons ? Do you also made a vid of shooting on Iceland as well ?
Keep on marketing this kind of "Northern Islands Content"
Thanks Matthias, I use the a7rIII, have a look at my channel, I have like 45 videos from Iceland ;)
Amzing vid as usual... just a couple of questions thought. You mentioned at the beginning of the video that a guide is needed to get to these places. Is this absolutely necessary or is more a recommendation? Could I use your map instead? or you still will recomend a guide for safety reasons.
The land is privately owned and the owner has found the "Golden Ticket"
Hey! Do you think 12MP drone would be sufficient for good quality photos?
How did you manage to get drone photos from Drangarnir? I thought that drones were generally a no-go on Vagar due to the airport. Did you fly the drone also at Trælanipa?
Trælanipa is no-go due to the airport. Drangarnir is far enough away and you need to get the accept from the owner ;)
@@MadsPeterIversen Thanks for your swift reply. Your photos from Drangarnir are outstanding! The only way to get similar quality is to visit this place several times for the best light and weather conditions.
I like your photograph, not too much artificial modification, very natural
the background music is also very nice
I did like your video, but I would love to know how everybody in your work shop felt about being all sandwiched together to get that best (composition) view. I personally wouldn't spend thousands of dollars to be a sardine. Do they all go they're own way and then come back.....how does that work...???
Basically just take turns and some are usually occupied with something else, as they don't want the iconic photos.
There's usually plenty of time as the sunsets are long :)
Love you work... how do you afford to travel so much
Thanks, I'm a photography guide so I get to these places a lot :)
Do you have an ARCA plate attached to the bottom of your L-bracket?
It's for my peak design clip :)
@@MadsPeterIversen That's what I figured. I always swap them out, only having one or the other installed at any one time. I never considered stacking them.
Do you have any contact information for a guide that you’d need to hire?
Hello, how can I have a photography tour with you
It really sucks that you need a tour guide now. When I was there in 2017 you didn’t need one yet. The times for the tours are not always ideal for good lighting and being there just for your own is just something special and i would much prefer that over being in a crowded group.
I completely agree, but as the location kinda went viral and the Faroese know how to make money it was only a question about time. At least it is not closed off :)
Also, if you get a photography guide like Thomas Vikre he just schedules for sunset :)
Haha Baby Sheep :)
did i see you on ólavsøka?
Not sure where that is?
Are you german?
Hi Mads, great and interesting video. I really like that you explain why and how you take some shots. Could you also make a video explaining, how you lost processed some of these photos? That would be great. Especially the ones around 11:00
Have a great day.
Feel free to check out my Instagram: maxpulsed
i saw it's $350 to take a 2 hour boat tour to drangonir. they are making a ton of money off tourists who cant hike that far.
