Jack Lemmon and Anne Bancroft star as a pair of disgruntled New Yorkers in the film version of Neil Simon's Tony Award-winning play in which a recently unemployed executive must subsist on his understanding wife's salary as his tenuous hold on sanity begins to unravel. Will his tough hide be enough to get him through the endless assault of minor annoyances in this humorous homage to modern urban life? M. Emmet Walsh, F. Murray Abraham, and Sylvester Stallone play small roles.

What a classic comedy! Love it! Underrated film, for sure. Along the lines of The Out of Towners, with Jack and Sandy Dennis.

I didn’t realize they named theL ore in this here’s a reservation in hell.
If only we had caring wives like this in today's world. For how cynical and insensitive that the people of today are, a wife would selfishly scold her husband, and say something like, "You should have more courage than that!", or, "Man up, and deal with it!". Well, that's not going to work. Edna did care very much about Mel, that's why she scolded those people back.
