I live on 92nd and Second Avenue and I pass the building where this movie was filmed. I love this film because I know what it is to be unemployed and miserable. But Jack makes a terrible situation very funny. However, I did not feel too much of a prisoner of second avenue because I enjoy walking around the city and being free to do what I want. However, the thought of not being employed always seeps back into to head and you are dying to work again. Jack is wonderful in this movie as in all of his films.
I'm a big jack Lemmon fan so this movie is tops on my list but I read Eli Wallach starred in the Broadway play I'd love to see how different he played it I know it wouldn't be better but I'd love to see different perspectives of how each character can be played. I love Neil Simon movies too.
@@garryberman894 oh wow awesome I might of got the wrong play I was watching the Netflix special on Jerome Silberman aka gene Wilder it was fascinating I enjoyed it so much
I think Jack Lemmon is drinking vegetable juice, or V8, from what I can see. Vegetable juice is pretty healthy, and I was always encouraged to drink it, but I think it's very uneasy and uncomfortable to drink, because there's too much acid in it, and it's way too strong of a flavor. It would be a healthy choice to drink vegetable juice with breakfast, but I'd rather choose something mild to start my day with, like a glass of milk or orange juice. People hardly ever talk about vegetable juice anyway, so it's not that much of a concern if you don't drink it. As you can probably guess, I don't like coffee either, because it's too strong of a flavor.
This is Such an Underrated Movie...One of Bancrofts best performances

After my girlfriend at the time and I saw this movie we went up to 2nd ave. to see the building as well. It was a fun day.

Peter Falk and Lee Grant were the original stars in the original Broadway play.
