AZ native and we are planning to move. Its horrible. Its changed for the worse the last few years. Over crowded with rude people, drought, heat is getting worse every summer ($650 for electric during summer running AC), everything is $$$ especially if you want to do anything fun! Politics are heated, road rage, bad traffic. Sure you can get away up north if you want to battle the traffic and crowds. You have to book a camp site 6 months beforehand. The growth with tons of distribution centers in the west valley bought by californian investers taking advantage of cheap land, the small houses going in everywhere. So crowded! Theyre building but forgetting about expanding the roads and schools. That's another big point, AZ is ranked 45th in education. This state is not family friendly anymore.
I moved here 13 years ago. I fell in love with AZ. But I agree with you, it has become ridiculous in regards to affordability, congestion, and just all around easy living. Not to mention the garbage all along the freeways, even on the SanTan through Gilbert. It's just not the same.
So sorry to hear that has been your experience here. Yeah there has been so much growth and with that comes change in a large city. Hope you guys can find a new place that is a better fit for what you are looking for 😊
@@erinyager7370 So sorry to hear that has been your experience here. I agree that Arizona is easy to fall in love with! 🌵❤ But there has been so much growth and with that comes change in a large city. Hope you guys can find a new place that is a better fit for what you are looking for 😊
I left for a few reasons. Some were personal, but the reasons that were not personal are 1) the heat - I lived there since 1993 (moved there as a child) and never liked the heat. I wanted seasons, especially raising children 2) cost of housing 3) too many people! I wanted to be somewhere out in the country with less people 4) Its turning into a mini LA as people are bringing their voting practices with them...its not the AZ it once was.
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and reasons! Definitely a lot of growth and change over the years and it looks and feel different than when I was a kid here. What part of AZ did you live in when you were here? 😊
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA I lived in Scottsdale, then the East Valley. There was a lot to like about the East Valley. Especially the older, more settled neighborhoods without the HOA nonsense.
@@leslieg9406 if there is anything we can do to help with the move or help you find a great agent in the new city you are planning to move to just let us know 😊
@@AbsyntheAndTears Love those areas in the east valley! Really pretty neighborhoods and great areas close to lots of amenities and dining without the craziness of downtown. Great location! 😊
So glad to hear you love it here and that it has been a good fit! 😊 Arizona has so much to offer and is such a beautiful place to live for people who love the scenery, weather, and lifestyle it offers! ☀🌵 What made you choose to move here from NY?
We lived in Arizona for 35 years until we moved to Florida Space Coast two years ago and couldn’t be happier. Only regret was not moving sooner. Lived in nice areas of the valley in Chandler and Fountain Hills. Neither compare to where we live now. Weather more mild in winter, rarely falls under 60 degrees and summer. (77 for low and 90 for high is better than 95 and 112, even with extra humidity). Green and beautiful, water everywhere, more to see and do.
I left in 2017. Too many Californians moving in as the state became more popular. The culture of the state completely changed for the worse compared to the 90s and early 2000s.. it’s no longer home for me.
Yeah big cities that grow quickly like Phoenix have often have lots of changes that come with that growth. Not the right fit for everyone and hope you found a city that's the right fit for you 😊
And people leaving because of that instead of fighting for their state is the reason it keeps getting worse. I.E. people leaving like you did are the problem
During the summer most people stay inside or in their air conditioned cars during the day in AZ. But when the sun goes down you see people start leaving their homes to walk the dog or exercise. It’s still hot at night (often lows of 90) but without the sun cooking you it’s bearable at night.
Yeah we mostly hide inside with AC during those summer months. It's still hot even at night like you said, but it's more bearable. We just have to treat our summers like a lot of people treat harsh winters, staying inside for those few brutal months and then enjoying the outdoors more once it's get nicer!
I was born in Philippines and move here in 2004. To very humid place to a very dry place is very hard for Me to adjust it took me about 5-8 years to see and find the beauty of az and still finding new places. If you like outdoor stuff. This place has it all. An hour or 30mins away you could be mountain biking hiking, camping, if you want stargazing just drive about 2 hours away from the city lights youll see the stars!! Oh and its better if you own a truck! Its fun to drive it around the desert 😊, the point is. Just get out there and explore. 😊
Yeah it can take a while to adjust to the desert climate here for those coming from different weather. 🌵 And I totally agree, there is so much to do here, you just have to know where to look! 😊 Gorgeous places for outside activities, hiking, stargazing, exploring, camping, lake living, and tons more!
I can see why California people might seem an issue. As a native Californian, I am so used to paying the high rent . Looking at other areas surrounding Ventura made me cry. I love this town, but all I do is work for a roof.
Yeah the cost of living and housing here definitely is appealing for people who are used to paying much higher prices like California, Chicago, Washington and many other places 😊
I left California 17 years ago to be away from Californians. This place is California now and I will stay 1 more year and decide if I’m going to move. Schools suck here and have really declined and so has healthcare. Btw I live in flagstaff. I love my 4 seasons and if it’s cold I can go to Phoenix for the weekend. There’s positives here but I’m thinking the negatives are really starting to outweigh any positives. Makes me sad since my children’s family is from here and they were born here but we all feel this place has become so unfriendly anymore.
Yeah I have lived here in Phoenix my whole life and it's has been growing and changing a lot in the recent years. Definitely some not great parts about growth and change that come along with the good parts. Love being able to get away to cooler small cities like Flagstaff 😊
it's crazy how much California is invading all of Arizona. its happening to tucson too. if you look at the percentages of people moving to Arizona, 60+ percent is California
I go to the Phoenix area yearly and the people are always nice..even the homeless 😂...guess we are used to the Jerks in california so az people seem great.
Thanks for checking out the video and recommending that. We've mentioned it in some of our other pros and cons videos about Phoenix. The crazy driving and traffic now is definitely something that a lot of people might not like and could be a factor for people leaving or moving to less busy areas of AZ 🌵
I just moved to Cabo San Lucas Mexico in 2022. I wanted to experience a different culture and I wanted to live on the beach and that's not financially realistic in the states. It's truly a very special place and it has some of the most amazing beaches in the world. I lived in Tempe Arizona for most of my life time, 35 years to be exact. Phoenix is amazing I will always love the city it's got everything a human will need except the ocean. I will always call it home.. great content..
That sounds like an amazing place to be, so glad you are enjoying it! ☀️ Love Tempe and Phoenix and they will always be home for me too! If only we had a beach lol!
Arizona is beautiful. The history is the land and the mountains, the western and Native American and Hispanic cultures. The state’s landscape is like no other . Wr are hard working people . We love the outdoors. We love our state .
Moved to Arzona about a year ago now, and i have to say it was the biggest mistake of my life. Trying to move back out as soon as I can afford it, but im worried im stuck here
I live in Flagstaff. i work all over the state, its absolutely beautiful. Everyone that lives here knows why people are leaving. Its because the people that are coming.
I agree that Flagstaff and all of AZ is so beautiful! 😍 Love all the different scenery and ecosystems here and how you can drive just an hour or two and feel like you are in a different part of the country!
BIG PROBLEM for me when i lived there and now too when i come to visit relatives is the pollution from car exhaust but also tire particulate. EVERY TIME I go to the valley I get sore throat, the air never smells clean. Of course does not help that there is little rain and lack of green vegetation and trees to clean the air.
Yeah that is a good point, there is not much rain here since we are a desert and fewer trees as well unless you head up north to Prescott or Flagstaff. Thanks for checking out the video and providing this info for others to have 😊
I lived in Las Cruces, NM with similar summers. I found refrigerated A/C does not work well over 105 f. But the A/C that works with water evaporation is about 1/10th the cost as it just has a tiny water pump and a fan. Those work better at any temperature over 105 f and will cool down to 68 f. These are also called "swamp coolers" as they just add humidity to the dry air. For some unknown reason, new houses only come with refrigerated air that will usually fail on a 115 f day. However the swamp coolers will not work on a cloudy day as the air must be hot and dry for them to work.
Yeah there are still some older homes here that have swamp coolers, but many people have chosen to no longer use them since they are not as effective at cooler here in the Phoenix dry heat and can make the home feel humid or muggy at times which can make the heat feel that much worse. 🥵 But you're right, it is more cost effective than electric HVAC and heat pump systems. 💵 The good news is that most of the newer homes they have been building here in the last 10 years are very energy efficient to help the home stay cool for much less! 👍
Coolers will take the temps down about 30 degrees, not 40. Once July 10th to the 15th hits, the coolers stop working. Then the maintenence for them sucks.
Swamp coolers don't work worth shit. You have it completely backwards. I hate this place but actual refrigerated A/C is the only thing that works in Phoenixand makes it liveable. I have family in Las Cruces and have visited it often. It's fairly hot in mid summer but not remotely comparable to Phoenix.
Yeah we have been growing so fast for the past several years and housing and cost of living has been going up as a result. So crazy to see the difference from what it was 10 years ago!
We moved to Arizona 7 years ago from Alaska, now we are ready to head out. Find something a little less landlocked. Yes there are rivers and lakes but driving five hours to the ocean is a no thanks.
Yeah it would be awesome if Arizona was next to the ocean, but not much we can do about being landlocked lol. Hope you get to find your next home in a location that is great fit for you close to the water! 😊
Moving to Phoenix after the new year. I only visited once and for just two days, but i knew it was a great fit. From Texas, so the costs aren't outrageous compared to the cities here. You hit the nail on the head with the underrated food scene! That's a big part of why im excited for the move. Thanks for the video.
That's awesome, excited to welcome you to Phoenix!! So glad you thought it was a good fit! Yeah, the food scene here is amazing and so underrated! So many great hidden gems and fun places to check out and experience! Thanks so much for checking out the video and hope you love the move here! ☀🌵
I live in phoenix born here and remain here I love it and I have lived in Seattle, Hawaii,Texas,Virginia,Oregon,California and I always come back home, but thats juat me I love AZ
That is awesome! I'm born and raised here too and have lived in the Phoenix area my whole life! love this city and everything that Arizona has to offer! 🌵☀ But wouldn't mind a beach or cooler summers haha! Worth it for the weather the rest of the year and all that amazing sunshine! 😎
Currently live in Seattle lived in Phoenix Arizona for 8years plan on coming back in a few years. Seattle is not my cup of tea I hate the pacific northwest.
@@ralphjohnson3202 Excited for you to be able to make the move back to the sunshine here ☀ Love how green Seattle is and since we don't get that much rain here I love getting to visit Seattle and enjoy a totally different climate and type of weather, but don't think I could handle the cloudy gloom all the time lol
I went to Arizona for a vacation last week. It was hell on earth. Everyday 115 degrees and I went to play golf. I don't know how people live in that heat.
Yeah the summers are brutal and usually not the time you want to visit. But if you can make it through the summers the weather in the fall, winter, and spring is gorgeous and make it worth it 😊
I left because it was too damn hot and getting hotter every year. There is also almost no life outside 80% of the year because of the heat. Most of the summer there are death warnings - yes, those emergency notifications you get. Our weather app says "Don't go outside today as you may die". As someone with kids, there just isn't enough to do year-round. I left for CO and every time I go back for family I am reminded about how much nicer Colorado is than AZ. A side note, AZ is ranked the worst state in the nation for public education. All said, I loved the years I spent in Arizona. It just doesn't compare to the life in Colorado. How my life has changed: (1) I now go to local festivals almost every weekend, (2) local breweries are how I spend many date nights, (3) honey festivals from local beekeepers, (4) every manner of convention happens in Denver and I try to go to all of them, (5) get's at most 99 degrees in the summer (6) when it snows, it melts before noon and the plows are usually done on the main roads well in advance of that (7) the food scene is dynamic and interesting, (8) I can sneeze and hit a skii slope, (9) people out here just seem way nicer and less hot. (10) rolling hills and well paid public educations, (11) local wildlife like praire dogs, bald eagles, geese, (12) white water rafting in the summer in the Rockies (an hour from Denver). I could go on.
I moved here 25 yrs ago and love it. Yes it gets very hot in the summer but there are trade offs wherever you land. I recommend buying the smallest home your comfortable with just like a car they are cheaper to operate. The only thing I find worrisome is the californication taking place...
my biggest complaint here was the heat over the years, but now ontop of that, its getting more and more expensive, rent is outrageous, and its overrun with traffic and construction. i miss the good old days when it wasnt so ridiculous
Yep, the hotter weather that comes with living in this area is a big reason why some people leave. The summers here are brutal and not for everyone for sure 🥵 Phoenix and the areas around it have been growing so much in the past few years and you're right about the traffic and rent increases that come with growth in a big city like this. SO different from when I was a kid here years ago. What part of town are you from?
I agree, I love the rich history and past this place has and am shocked when people think there isn'tt that much! Love all the museums and art here dedicated to that beautiful history and hope more people visit and learn about it. 🌵☀
I'm a Texan that's lived in CA, WA, and now OR - about to move to AZ after visiting (and passing through multiple times between TX and CA) and.. if you don't want rude politicos in your face 24/7, don't come to ANY major metro areas on the West Coast. PNW is worse and Portland is absolutely unbearable; the people _were_ nicer several years ago in PDX vs SEA but after 2020 I think PDX is worse. People in AZ were so nice and I'm so badly socialized as twelve YEARS of the PNW that I was often the rude, inadvertently. Personally, I find yall close to the personable nature of Texans without the "southern hospitality" bs we use to find out more about you with minimal effort. Because that what Texans do lol
So glad you got to experience how great everyone here is! I think it's the laid back lifestyle and all that extra sunshine we get that makes people here to nice haha! ☀ There are for sure some jerks here as well, but overall most of the people here are so great and friendly!
@@elizabethhanson3258 sorry about all the acronyms. PNW is Pacific North West (are of the US that includes chapters from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming). PDX is the acronym for the Portland Oregon airport and SEA is the acronym for the Seattle Washington airport. Hope this helps translate what we were talking about 😊
we left Arizona because democrat leadership equals financial hardship for middle class and small business. and the dirty elections in the state make change almost impossible.
Great video, u really put together a good presentation. I'm originally from Des Moines Iowa but I moved to Phoenix n 2012 n I lived there until 2016 I absolutely LOVED it the diversity there was awesome n people where very kind. I have to admit the summer were EXTREMELY BRUTAL but other than that it was a great experience. I currently live n San Diego which I love but I still visit Phoenix during the winter months thanks for posting great content.
Thanks so much for checking out the video and always appreciate the feedback! 😊 Yeah the winters are so incredible here, but you have the trade off of those brutal summers 🔥 if you can make it through those 3-4 months of heat the rest of the year is worth it haha! So glad to hear you loved your time living here!
Sending love to Arizona..... I wish to visit Arizona one day, it is my favorite weather 🔥.. You won't realize until you get cold, depression, Jailed at your own house unable to open the window for 1 minute. Heat makes you sweating and that is healthy, a small AC can fix the issue.
Hopw you get to visit someday soon! ☀🌵 There are definitely pros and cons to the warmer weather, but I personally love it and the fall, winter, and spring are so worth it! 😊
A Lot of history of the gunfighters of the old west in AZ. Some old movies, tv shows and actors are great to watch on a hot day. Overlanding is great fun looking for the ghost towns, mining camps, springs ,etc too
Yeah, lots of cool history and places to check out here in AZ! So many cool little mining towns and small cities to explore! 🌵☀ Thanks for checking out the video!
Thanks for checking out the video! Wish the housing prices were up to me, if so they would be lower 😉 Sadly I can't control that but working to help keep everyone informed of prices and options out there. 👍
I wasn't born in Arizona but I got here as fast as I could ! The number one problem in Arizona now is the cost of living. That said, not many metro areas of the country are affordable to blue collar people like myself. Plenty of things to see and do here.
Haha love it and glad you're here now! I agree, there is so much to do and see here and Arizona has so much to offer throughout the various cities and areas! Yeah it has grown and changed a lot and the affordability we were used to 10 years ago seems to be gone.
@@thurstonhowelllll948 yeah the summers here are no joke 🔥 But once you make it through those 3-4 brutal months, the weather during the rest of the year is worth it! 😊
Isn't it a bit contradictory to say that people are friendly if they aren't welcoming to people from a certain state? Yes I've heard of what a number of people from CA are doing which makes no sense to me, but what about the people who aren't moving there for the wrong reasons?
Yeah like I said in the video some people here are just grumpy and upset when anyone moves here (it is a bummer that all the growth has raised prices for homes but that's part of living in a great area where everyone wants to move 😊). For the most part the people here are great and friendly and aren't grumpy about others moving here lol. We love it here and know that people moving here do too!
I lived southeast of Tucson once and southwest of Tucson once. I have always loved southern Arizona. We had to move to Tenn to take care of my wife’s parents. I would move back but with the underground aquifers dropping lower and lower water is my biggest concern and water is an absolute necessity!!!
Yes love the southern parts of Arizona, so many amazing hikes and views! Plus the historic cities and cites are incredible to check out too! Yeah we get a lot of questions about water and the situation with that. We did a video on it if you want to check it out to get more info. 😊
Youre a good speaker! I moved here 4 years ago. Thought it would be my forever state but the growth and construction has made me and family members sick MANY TIMES! Not like a cold- I mean Pneumonia- which Id never had. Doctors say the construction is tearing up the soil and the soil is BAD FOR NEW Residents! I find the Desert beautiful but Im moving soon. I cant deal with asthma and always getting bacterial infections. Also… there are parts of California that are now the exact same price per sq. Ft. … Phoenix is NOT affordable anymore.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it and hope the video was helpful! Yeah there has been so much growth and change here in the past 10-20 years. So sorry to hear about your health and hope you can find a solution and place to live that's a better fit. 😊
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA its really a bummer. The Sunrises & Sunsets are breathtaking. Hikes through the Desert are fun. These new builds cover up views there used to be. I hope it ends someday. God bless. Youre a smart, pretty girl🎆❤️
It's a great place to visit and so much to do and see! But definitely make sure to visit when the weather is cooler, summer is pretty brutal here lol ☀️
I was born in Mesa and remember paying $800 for rent. I moved away three years ago but want to come back. I can deal with all the other things but I’ve heard that the Mesa / Gilbert area is seriously over crowded. I know there are lots more people but I’m imagining over crowded stores, gyms and entertainment areas? Is this true? I don’t want to feel like I’m suffocating.
I miss those days of rent being $800! Yeah there has been a lot of growth and change over the past 10-15 years here. If it's only been 3 years since you have been here, there has been growth and more people moving here but the amount likely won't feel much different, a little busier. Gilbert in particular has grown more than Mesa, so if you are looking to stick to the Mesa area you should be good 😊
My sister has lived in Tempe for 40 years & I’ve visited a lot. It’s ok in winter, but summer is horrible. I was walking out the front door once, west facing house), touched the doorknob and it hurt my hand it was so hot! I remember when it was much less developed, and it was nice then. Not so much now. Too hot, brown/dusty.
Yep, the summers here are no joke and the heat is very intense! 😅I make sure to mention it in many of my videos so people know what they are getting into with these summers lol. But the fall, winter, and spring are so gorgeous and worth it for lots of people. ☀
Arizona is my home. It's been my lifeline for years. But now we are in the mountains. I want to go back home to badly. Too hot and I'm sick of the rollercoaster rides in the housing market. Plus, everybody there now is from California. It used to be such a sleepy little Western town. With all that is going on in the world, I fear about the power grid in Scottsdale/Phoenix. That goes down and it is unbearable. Makes me sad to be gone. I feel like I'm missing out on everything.
I would miss it too if I ever left, but I'm sure the mountains are lovely as well! Hard to leave a place that feels like home. You're right, the summers here are very intense and the only time of year I want to leave every year lol ☀ What part if town did you live in when you were here? 😊
Yep! Have been there and while and double checked and pulled up ok for me on my end. Here is the link if that helps 😊 exprealty.com/agents/?page=1&country=US&name=Samantha+Sloan
As a 6+ year resident who moved to "Preskitt" from Vegas, I think that this nails it! June of 2023 was unusually cool until... the last week. July the monsoons are nonsoons and it is hot and dusty as Hades (even here). The food is awful, I mean the worst I have ever had, anywhere. Californians who move here are not a problem although AZ becoming much more "Blue" (bummer). Health care in this area is Hell Care and everything is in PHX (yes there is good food there). Yet There Is Crime, Mucho and it's getting worse with the Brandonomics! Enough said... Mars out✌
Haha love that you spelled it how we say it 😂 Wonder who started saying it like that years ago lol. True it's not the right for for everyone and like every other city is not perfect. Depending on what you are looking for or wanting to get away from, it can be a great fit for some people ☀
My family is Canadian and own a home in Scottsdale. My parents always talk about how many people are moving there. Prices skyrocketing since they bought around 2010.
Yeah I have helped several clients who are Canadian purchase second and vacation homes here! Great place to enjoy the warmth and sunshine! ☀ There has been so much growth in the past 10-15 years here and yeah, home prices have gone up as a result of that for sure 🏡
Yeah, we have a lot of clients from Canada who buy second homes here in AZ and come enjoy the beautiful sunny weather here during those colder months! ☀️
Yeah I wanted to be sure to give all the honest info and feedback we hear from others so that people can have this information when making a decision if they want to move here or not in the future. 😊
We also have thousands of "snow birds" that are from cold states! People love Az for the weather most the year eith just a few months of heat. But our desert is an oasis and have all 4 seasons in the state. Go north and you're in snow and south you're in the warm desert. So much to enjoy outdoors most the year. I'm born and raised in Az. We're 6 hours to the ocean in California and Ricky point Mexico. And 6 hours to Vegas.
So true! Arizona is amazing in how it offers all 4 seasons and such different scenery depending on what city you are in! Love that you can have so much diversity in weather and love all the outdoors adventures! I'm born and raised in Phoenix too and love everything it has to offer including being close to so many things like you mentioned (beaches in Mexico and Cali, Vegas, and great vacay spots)!
Thanks so much for checking out the video! So sorry to hear about your health condition, but glad the dry heat has helped 😊 I have friends and family with various respiratory and other health issues that are well suited for a dry and warm climate as well so it’s been a good fit for them here too 👍

Living in Arizona has been disappointing. We moved from CA to quit a crazy politics State and be in a conservative one, and ended up with a LGTBQXYZ Leftist Governor. The level of professionalism here in AZ is near zero in practically everything: people arrive late, botch or don't finish the job, over charge, lose your files, I could go on. Almost impossible to find qualified employees. Medical care is scary. Lack of ambition, don't care. Unfriendly neighbors with narrow minded attitudes as soon as you are not "from here" or don't fit the local profile (we are not in a city) . Except for outdoors activities, nothing cultural, lack of charm. (Especially if you have lived abroad and are used to international flair, AZ is utterly boring) No good restaurants, although very expensive for what they offer, lack of fresh food. Lack of service. Arizona is a beautiful state, with gorgeous Nature and landscapes. Too bad it is getting ruined by crazy chicken coop style homes building, roads and highways littered with trash, and people who do not respect themselves, do not take care of themselves, are very unhealthy, uneducated, and think it is normal. Preparing to leave.
So sorry to hear that has been your experience. No city is perfect, but hopefully you can find a part of Arizona or maybe somewhere else that has what you are looking for 😊 AZ has a lot to offer, but depending on what you want and need it may not be the right fit for everyone. 🌵
My husband is a native American Navajo I am French I moved here 10 years ago with him in Apache junction I loved it so much because it was a small town horse friendly but in 10 years we see they built too much plus the summer starts earlier and last longer too much building is bad for the heat and the quality of the air pretty bad. The valley is over populated. The sad thing is the ones who born here lived here and worked here all their life end up to move because those who come from.others state inflate the price of everything . It was attractive for Californians to move here for the taxes and the house market but soon it will pay exactly the same ! I don't talk about the water supply drying out years after years the electricity bill over the roof during the hottest months. The food the insurances etc....
You nailed it lol. I do like Arizona though and this is my third time living here but being from Minnesota everything you said is spot on. We will move again but had to leave Minnesota for a bit post George Floyd as things got crazy. The politics in Arizona are still 1000x better than Minnesota but yeah I see it creeping the other direction. Honestly I’m willing to deal with it to have beautiful scenery and trees outside my windows with solid medical care. Love the laid back nature of Arizona but that does lend way to the unprofessionalism you mention. I’ve just come to expect it.
@@cmscms123456 There are parts of town that can feel a little like that (for example the cities you went to) but places like Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Anthem and tons of other areas have a very different feel. Hoepfully you can check them out next time you're in Arizona!
Believe it or not it was actually more uncomfortably hot for me in inland California due to a lot higher humidity you couldn't cool off. In Arizona most of the time its so dry sweat evaporates instantly. There are lot of smaller towns in AZ with milder weather such as Prescott or Sierra Vista which are neither as hot but also not as cold as say mountain towns like Flagstaff.
Yeah that is so true, not having the humidity here makes such a big difference. And we do have some awesome towns in southern and northern Arizona that have the milder weather along with snow in the winter and mountain town feeling. Thanks so much for checking out the video and the awesome insights! 😊
You said there's no beach in Arizona. I've spent time boating and tubing down the Salt River, granted it was a couple of decades ago, I assume that it's still a thing. Tubing down the Salt River (East Mesa as I recall) was absolutely amazing.
Good point! While we are land locked and don't have beaches (but we're getting a man made beach as a resort here soon lol) we do have lots of beautiful rivers and lakes here to enjoy water activities and lake life! 😎
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA I recall while going down the Salt River, granted well over a decade ago, these guys at one point set up a few surf boards and were surfing upriver. They did this w/ a rope tied to a tree and were surfing upstream as the river was going down stream (granted not going anywhere, but it looked loads of fun anyway). In Arizona, anything is possible.

We are thinking about moving to Phoenix, Las Vegas or West Texas before next summer to avoid the humid weather here in Louisiana. I am doing some research to figure out our best move.
Awesome! Those are all great choices and have really similar weather. Depends on what you are looking for in terms of housing, budget, amenities, and everything but let me know if you have any questions I can answer about Arizona that can help you make a decision if AZ is the right fit 😊
@@jesusloves4244 Tucson might be a great option too! Depending on what you are looking for, Tucson is small than Phoenix and has more of a laid back feel. Not as much amenities and things to do but great places to eat, gorgeous hiking, and lots of space for homes. 😊
Haha so many people are waiting and hoping for that too to buy some homes on sale. With the housing shortage and economy the way it is, doesn't look like crash is happening any time soon but we'll have to wait and see!
I really enjoyed your video. It was well-rounded and discussed both pros/cons of living in Arizona. We do have A LOT to do here. Lots of places to see and events going on. As far as culture….we do have southwestern and Native American culture which is hugely important in this state. Crime and rude people are everywhere. I live in Scottsdale in a friends guest house. I was brought here 5-1/2 years ago when my then-husband got a job transfer. Now that I am single again, I learned to make it home during my time here while I was here but slowly that beginning to fade due to some of the negatives out lined I the video and for my own personal reasons 1.) The heat. It is becoming so unbearable year after year. I usually like the heat but my body is beginning to not tolerate it well and I get sick easily from excessive temps and sun exposure. Even a short walk from inside to outside makes me sick ☹ 2.) It’s turning into a concrete jungle with all the building going on (which probably adds to the heat island effect). That is not home to me. Every inch of land is being eaten up by more development. Yay for the economy though! 3.) Overcrowded. Everywhere. Even the parks and hiking spots way out are full of people. 4.) Traffic has gotten increasingly worse (and the snowbirds aren’t even here yet!). My commute (which is against “traffic”) has gotten more and more congested this past year. Even side streets are filling up. Weekends road congestion is as bad as weekdays on some freeways. It’s getting dangerous and makes me not want to travel anywhere. 5.) Too expensive. The housing market has increased so much that I am priced out of renting and buying. It’s sad because when we moved here 5 years ago, it was more affordable. Now as a single person, buying even a townhome or condo is out of reach. If I do end of moving, I will miss some of the things here in AZ. I didn’t choose to live here. But it is now my choice whether to stay or go. It’s sad that AZ had turned into “Cali-zona”. I've lived on the East coast and West coast, there are pros/cons to everyplace. It boils down to "what are you're priorities/values/needs in a place to live?" "What is home to you?"
Thanks so much for checking out the video and providing some of your own cons for living here. It's always helpful for people to hear from multiple sources to get an idea of what to expect here and what the good and bad of living in the area can be 😊
Super brown. No good lakes or beaches. No four seasons in major population areas. Drought. Unbearable heat for months. Land locked. Lack of culture. Dust. Lots of old people. Pollution. Very little trees. High crime. Lots of deadly things in nature. Expensive. But it is a nice place to visit for a few weeks in the winter!
Yeah there are some parts of the Phoenix mextro that are more green, but since it's a desert there is a lot of brown. There is lots of green and four seasons a couple hours north in Prescott, Flagstaff, and Sedona 😊 We actually do have multiple lakes and rivers, but true no beaches since Arizona is land locked. A lot more families and younger people here in the past 10 years, but you're right that it's not the best fit for everyone. Hopefully these videos can give them enough info to decide if it's the right move. So true, winters here are gorgeous! ☀️
@@randychase305 yep, I agree. Like I said in the video, these are views that the people leaving mention. I think Arizona has so much rich history and culture and we are such a diverse mix of cultures, backgrounds, and histories and you just need to look for it and it's easy to find here 😊
LOL, its not the promised land anymore. My parents moved to Surprise in 2003. They were able to sell their 1965 era home that they had lived in for nearly 40 years and buy a home in Arizona for a 1/3 of the cost of the California home. Prices in the Phoenix area have jumped way up and it is far from as affordable as it was back in 2003. My sister owns a beautiful home in Surprise that she bought for $460,000 and homes in her neighborhood have jumped to the $900,000 range. Most of my siblings moved to the area. Three sisters and a brother live there still. I just don't see it making any sense to move to the Phoenix area.
Lots of changes and growth for sure in the last few decades here. As with any city that experiences this much growth and change, some of the changes are good and others are not.
Sorry to hear you haven't had a good experience trying to make friends here. How long have you lived here and what part of town are you in? It can be hard to find that inner circle of amazing people, I've been really blessed to make life long friend and meet truly incredible people here. But they can be hard to find sometimes 🙂
You right, I've been here a long while, years and haven't been able to make "real" friends either. I don't know what it is?? I've heard a few people say the same exact thing.
Im a native and i want out the city! I grew up when uionhills was part dirt ! Im gen X and 80’s babby !Their to many California people. And it’s a fight between democrats and Republicans we’ve always been. If your anti-gun probably not the state for you. Not grumpy just don’t change the arizona i grew up in!
Yeah I love living here! 😊 You are so right, the winters are gorgeous and one of my favorite parts about getting to be here! Makes it worth those brutally hot summer haha!
Yeah there has been a ton of growth and building here in the last 5-10 years. Seems like everyone realized how great it is here and wanted to come check in out haha 😊
These desert states in the southwest aren't for everyone. The cool part about Arizona is that is also has gorgeous pine forest, snow, and way cooler weather just a couple hours north of Phoenix so you can have lot of different climates and temps here to fit what you are looking for 😊
Yep it is crazy hot but beats the humidity for sure! ☀ Love that this city is built all around and in the valley with mountains so that you get those mountains views anywhere you look! 😍
Williambullock1268- the Carolina’s and Arizona are the three states I’m considering moving too. Why do you like Arizona better than North Carolina? Also what part of North Carolina were you from?
Everywhere has pros & cons. I live in Vancouver, Canada where it's beautiful, safe with great schools. Cons are insane house prices , & three months continuous rain in winter. Have friends who Snowbird in AZ and they love it.
Same, I have lived here my whole life and in the main cities and metro areas there really isn't that much heated political talks. When you get outside to the more rural areas or here online and video comments are where people are constantly going on about that stuff lol
I lived in Mesa for 20 years and I left Arizona a decade ago, the heat was what factor about also, there's really no chance of having decent low income housing, I live in Northern New England now in a really decent apartment and I don't have to worry about anything like crime or dying in the summer Everything for me is in a two block radius, I live in a small town where everything is on one street and it's easily walkable Living in other states has made me realize that I'm a cold weather person, there's no way on my income that I would have any quality of life, in Arizona anywhere I love the high country of Arizona it is awesome, it's great Arizona used to be cheap to live in if you had any kind of middle class income My mother had no more than a high school education, and she was able to have a house brand new made for her in 1998, in southeast Mesa like a mile from the border of Gilbert Brand new home for 78,000 That's never going to happen these days and anybody who doesn't have real decent money, you're better off some where else
Visited Phoenix area several weeks ago from California. The Scottsdale area feels like California. I heard the saying that Sun valley is the CA Beverly hill in AZ. The heat is an interesting comparison to CA coastal mold. When housing is above $1M, it is comparable to CA. People move for jobs. The TSMC fabs will create additional employment opportunities and demand for housing at the NW corner. A bare wafer can’t travel far without getting contaminated. So additional companies will create factories for wafer dicing, tests and packaging into chips. This will undoubtedly bring a lot of Asian / Taiwanese into the community. Would these create shortages for power (to keep clean room fans running) and clear water (for the fabs and influx of workers)? I wonder why flagstaff wasn’t initially chosen for the TSMC fabs.
Yeah parts of Scottsdale and Arcadia can feel similar to California in some ways. There are lots of large companies such as TSMC starting and moving here to AZ and the city has planned out the needed infrastructure for power, water, housing, etc. to help accommodate for the growth. 😊
Born n raised here my grandma's house was built in 1871 our family bought it 1891 there so much history here..Arizona was a territory before a state lots of pioneer families here ..actually we natives prefer people leave way too many people here
Yeah the weather is one of the best parts about living here. But I can understand those other factors as well and wish you the best in finding somewhere that will be a better fit for you in the future. 😊
Love Phoneix ‼️hate the snow better to go see it. It is not that hot. Phoenix in the 70s was great. Becoming an LA. Even Apache Junction.is changing big time. Unbelievable
I lived there for 20+ years.. great place.. just Crime, Rent increases big time.. reason I left.. Water issues.. just became a real a issue. Power is expensive... especially 110+ degree.. Food is expensive too.. job wages are lower.. Right to work state... miss it but don't .. lived in Phoenix, Cave Creek and maricopa..
Yeah those areas are beautiful and lots that AZ has to offer. But you're right about the changes and costs with all the growth that has happened here the past 10 years. Love the scenery and homes in the Cave Creek area! Hope you found a new area that is a great fit 😊
Hello 👋 I moved to Tucson Arizona 18 months ago and I love ❤️ Arizona , I am okay with the heat , I rather be hot than -4 degrees cold freezing cold , I move from the East where the is high high humidity and snow winter cold cold weather I don’t like cold - 4 degrees winter weather , Arizona is just amazing beautiful ❤️👍
Welcome to AZ and so glad you love it here! It's not for everyone but people like you and me who love it and appreciate what it has to offer, it's a great fit! 😄 I would totally take the heat over the cold as well and love the scenery and diverse weather and climates that AZ has to offer! Tucson has gorgeous hiking and views! 🏜️😍
That is a lie about loving the weather when it's 120 because I love it I would rather be in 120 then 70 or 60 degrees and when it's 120 that doesn't keep me from being outside
Def not the same, moved here in 08' It was nice back then. Low cost of living, low rent and not crowed, since Covid .... it went down hill from there. Sucks now TBH. Wish we could pack up and leave but work is here, so..... lol. Nice vid, BTW
Thanks so much for checking out the video and glad you liked it! Yeah so many changes with a fast growing city like this (some good and some bad) and it feels so different from when I was a kid. So crazy that places like Maricopa City and San Tan that used to just be dirt are full on cities now lol 😂
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Right! I am in STV, use to be Q.C. but guess they didnt want to associate with them 😆 but we will see what happens soon, with all thats going on. Maybe it will be like 07 and 08 all over again. Silly ppl paid $450k plus for homes that were worth $200k and now add inflation on top of everything. Thanks again...😍
@@MetroCollectablesandvlogs Yeah lots of crazy growth with the market with how fast we are growing and shortage of housing. Will be interesting to see what the future holds!
i lived in yuma and told them i was from ca. and there was a noticeable difference in the way they treated me so i asked one lady why and she said cuz people from ca. are rude
So sorry to hear you had that experience. Unfortunately some people here are not as open and kind as others. The fact is that most people who live in Arizona have moved here from somewhere else in the country, so lots of people are from different areas 😊
Remember, Teddy Roosevelt said the bottom half if the state was uninhabitable more than 120 years ago. Many people are not ready than the intense heat, and at night, too. However, the winters are very cold. Much colder than the PR spin. Nights in the 30's and highs not much beyond 60 with regular days in the 50's..chilly.
I payed $70.00 to see Three Dog Night here. I payed $15 in Wisconsin. Live Music scene here is pretty much only for the rich. Prices are outrageous to do anything here unless you just want to hike.
Depending on the venue and time of year yeah tickets can be more in a bigger city like this. Lots of great free events and things to do in lots of different parts of town if you know where to look. But hiking is always a great free option too! 😄 Seen any other good shows here recently?
AZ has culture in places like Jerome and Bisbee.....BUT NOT PHOENIX met area. Very few old homes and buildings in comparison to other big cities, 95% of Phoenix now is cookie cutter homes and commercial intersections that look the same...boring boring boring boring boring boring boring boring.
The Phoenix metro is definitely newer than some others since it became a state in 1912 and not many people lived here until AC was widespread due to the heat and weather. While there are some historic districts in the Phoenix area with homes 100 years old, it's not the same as other places like the east coast with much older historic homes and cities. 🏠 Thanks for checking out the video!
Great question! There are lots of rent to own home options here! You can check them out on this link to see different homes and prices and even apply if you are interested www.divvyhomes.com/a/agentsamanthasloan
I know right?! But I guess that the grass is always greener somewhere else. Those who are used to the colder gloomy weather in other places probably love the change and enjoy the heat and sunshine here ☀ Meanwhile we want to trade them for some of that nice rain and cool weather haha

So glad you found a place that is such a great fit for you! Sounds like it was the right move for you guys! 😊
Clearwater Tampa?
To very humid place to a very dry place is very hard for
Me to adjust it took me about 5-8 years to see and find the beauty of az and still finding new places.
Exactly.
It's ghetto asf in AZ. You trying to sugar coat this POS state

I agree that Flagstaff and all of AZ is so beautiful! 😍 Love all the different scenery and ecosystems here and how you can drive just an hour or two and feel like you are in a different part of the country!
Do you have to wear a coat jn the winter time?
no sweat until 110
Coolers will take the temps down about 30 degrees, not 40. Once July 10th to the 15th hits, the coolers stop working. Then the maintenence for them sucks.
SO, YOU COULD HAVE TWO A/C'S ONE FOR CLOUDY DAYS, ONE FOR HOT DAYS
Swamp coolers don't work worth shit. You have it completely backwards. I hate this place but actual refrigerated A/C is the only thing that works in Phoenixand makes it liveable. I have family in Las Cruces and have visited it often. It's fairly hot in mid summer but not remotely comparable to Phoenix.
The increase in living is horrible
Yeah we have been growing so fast for the past several years and housing and cost of living has been going up as a result. So crazy to see the difference from what it was 10 years ago!
We moved to Arizona 7 years ago from Alaska, now we are ready to head out. Find something a little less landlocked. Yes there are rivers and lakes but driving five hours to the ocean is a no thanks.
Yeah it would be awesome if Arizona was next to the ocean, but not much we can do about being landlocked lol. Hope you get to find your next home in a location that is great fit for you close to the water! 😊

Yeah, but the people are unfriendly rednecks...
I went to Arizona for a vacation last week. It was hell on earth. Everyday 115 degrees and I went to play golf. I don't know how people live in that heat.
Yeah the summers are brutal and usually not the time you want to visit. But if you can make it through the summers the weather in the fall, winter, and spring is gorgeous and make it worth it 😊
Very pleasant video! Thank you for all the information!
Thanks so much, appreciate you checking out the video! 😊
Glad you found a place that's a better fit for you 😊

Thanks for checking out the video! What part of Arizona are you from? 🌵
I moved here 25 yrs ago and love it. Yes it gets very hot in the summer but there are trade offs wherever you land. I recommend buying the smallest home your comfortable with just like a car they are cheaper to operate. The only thing I find worrisome is the californication taking place...
So glad you love it here too! Arizona has so many beautiful places and cities to see and explore!
my biggest complaint here was the heat over the years, but now ontop of that, its getting more and more expensive, rent is outrageous, and its overrun with traffic and construction. i miss the good old days when it wasnt so ridiculous
Phoenix, as most people I've met tend to be from. But further north@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
@@NickDrinksWater Nice! I'm in the north Phoenix area too, in the Norterra area and really like it!

Thanks so much! Appreciate you checking out the channel! 😊
The history reason is a joke. The wild Wild West and all the Indian tribes history is plentiful.
I agree, I love the rich history and past this place has and am shocked when people think there isn'tt that much! Love all the museums and art here dedicated to that beautiful history and hope more people visit and learn about it. 🌵☀
You have three cultures in AZ, which is one reason I love it.
I don't know what PDX is, having to figure out what you mean is awful, just write it out so we know what your acronyms are.
Sounds like it was the right move for you guys and hope you found a place that is a better fit for what you're looking for 😊
I left California because of the high cost just about everything, I blame the Republican politicians, they are corrupt.
Arizona is Republican and California is run by Democrats
Make Arizona Houses Affordable Again ……
Thanks for checking out the video! Wish the housing prices were up to me, if so they would be lower 😉 Sadly I can't control that but working to help keep everyone informed of prices and options out there. 👍
Yes the prices are up to the roof ! And it’s not just AZ
it’s pure Greed!
The summers are hell
@@thurstonhowelllll948 yeah the summers here are no joke 🔥 But once you make it through those 3-4 brutal months, the weather during the rest of the year is worth it! 😊
Liberals raise house prices, $98k House in Northern Scottsdale in 1991.

Yeah there has been so much growth here with lots of people moving to Arizona and with that comes and good and the bad of so much growth 🏠
What's good about it?😂
Youre a good speaker!

I’d like to visit Arizona one day, a great job keeps me from moving out of Missouri

Prices skyrocketing since they bought around 2010.

very honest explanation 👍

I'm from Chicago if you want uptight
You sound like California. Don't let the door hit ya

Now that I am single again, I learned to make it home during my time here while I was here but slowly that beginning to fade due to some of the negatives out lined I the video and for my own personal reasons
1.) The heat. It is becoming so unbearable year after year. I usually like the heat but my body is beginning to not tolerate it well and I get sick easily from excessive temps and sun exposure. Even a short walk from inside to outside makes me sick ☹
2.) It’s turning into a concrete jungle with all the building going on (which probably adds to the heat island effect).
It's always helpful for people to hear from multiple sources to get an idea of what to expect here and what the good and bad of living in the area can be 😊
Too many people coming from out of state and changing the way things are. As an AZ native, happy if folks are leaving.

Arizonians are cordial but you wont make real friends in this messed up state.

Been in Phoenix for quite some time now and have never heard any public heated political discussions?
Same, I have lived here my whole life and in the main cities and metro areas there really isn't that much heated political talks. When you get outside to the more rural areas or here online and video comments are where people are constantly going on about that stuff lol
I lived in Mesa for 20 years and I left Arizona a decade ago, the heat was what factor about also, there's really no chance of having decent low income housing,
I live in Northern New England now in a really decent apartment and I don't have to worry about anything like crime or dying in the summer
Everything for me is in a two block radius, I live in a small town where everything is on one street and it's easily walkable
Living in other states has made me realize that I'm a cold weather person, there's no way on my income that I would have any quality of life, in Arizona anywhere
I love the high country of Arizona it is awesome, it's great
Arizona used to be cheap to live in if you had any kind of middle class income
My mother had no more than a high school education, and she was able to have a house brand new made for her in 1998, in southeast Mesa like a mile from the border of Gilbert
Brand new home for 78,000
That's never going to happen these days and anybody who doesn't have real decent money, you're better off some where else
So glad you were able to find somewhere that is a great fit for you and your lifestyle! 😊
greetings to people in Arizona, from Denmark.
Hi there! Thanks so much for checking out the video and hope the info was helpful! 😊
Born n raised here my grandma's house was built in 1871 our family bought it 1891 there so much history here..Arizona was a territory before a state lots of pioneer families here ..actually we natives prefer people leave way too many people here
Wow that's incredible! And yes there is so much amazing history and culture here in Arizona. 😊
I'll stay in nj and deal with the winter and put a coat on..
Yeah the summers can be brutal here 😂 Not for everyone and for some people sticking out the winters in other areas is worth it!
Lived in PHX since 2010.Leaving because of the urban sprawl and high cost of living. Love the weather, but time to say goodbye
Yeah the weather is one of the best parts about living here. But I can understand those other factors as well and wish you the best in finding somewhere that will be a better fit for you in the future. 😊
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Thanks! Cheers!
Love Phoneix ‼️hate the snow better to go see it. It is not that hot. Phoenix in the 70s was great. Becoming an LA. Even Apache Junction.is changing big time. Unbelievable
Yeah I love it here too! Crazy how much growth and change has happened over the past few decades!
I left Phoenix 20 years ago, and moved to cold Northern New England. It is a much healthier environment. Wouldn't go back to AZ if you paid me!
So glad you were able to move somewhere that is a better fit for you 👍
Hello 👋 I moved to Tucson Arizona 18 months ago and I love ❤️ Arizona , I am okay with the heat , I rather be hot than -4 degrees cold freezing cold , I move from the East where the is high high humidity and snow winter cold cold weather I don’t like cold - 4 degrees winter weather , Arizona is just amazing beautiful ❤️👍
That's great that you enjoy the heat and being outside during the summers! ☀️ Phoenix is definitely a great fit for you! 😄
Isn't Phoenix moving towards Satilite city in 2024?
We'll see what happens in the coming year!
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA 100 percent.
@@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Have you been busy? I slowed down a lot, it was crazy in the middle of Aug tho for two weeks then died lol
i lived in yuma and told them i was from ca. and there was a noticeable difference in the way they treated me so i asked one lady why and she said cuz people from ca.
Very true haha, the desert weather here can be brutal at times. But for me totally worth it for the gorgeous winter and spring weather 😊
….. teddy roosevelt was a white man who wasn’t indigenous to these lands…. Let’s not use Indigenous erasure
As of 2023, AZ water has been lessened by 20% but more people keep coming. My reason for leaving will be lack of water.
We get so many questions on the water situation. We did a video on that as well if you want to check it out to get more info!
Do you have any information on rent to own homes and what realtor to contact?
Great question! There are lots of rent to own home options here! You can check them out on this link to see different homes and prices and even apply if you are interested www.divvyhomes.com/a/agentsamanthasloan
Interesting. tons of people want to leave the colder states and move to places like Phoenix.🥵
I know right?! But I guess that the grass is always greener somewhere else. Those who are used to the colder gloomy weather in other places probably love the change and enjoy the heat and sunshine here ☀ Meanwhile we want to trade them for some of that nice rain and cool weather haha
