People are hating Rivals for no reason because they want a sequel of Most Wanted. They fucking botched the 2012 version and literally, when Criterion planned to innovate MW 2012 in order to follow it's predecessor, which is the 2005 version, EA doesn't literally give a shit about them so they just scrapped and cancelled Criterion's plans on innovating the game. The same goes to Rivals because many people complained that the cops we're too OP. In Unbound, many of them complained that the cops we're too easy? Like seriously, what is the NFS community doing for all this time? More copium in the comments.
At launch, the "hate" is somewhat warranted due to the bugs, and frequent disconnections despite in singleplayer. The patches resolved most of the issues, and all the DLCs are now bundled together as Complete Edition. As for cop OP complaint, it might be due to the hypercars being mostly on police. The One:1 DLC somewhat resolves this.

One streamer stopped his first stream on rivals mid way because he said it was boring and the costamizion was horrible 😢and he didn't even play even most of the good parts
Tip: most of the time, it is more effective to just escape them than fighting them, especially when dealing against enforcer variants. Turbo + Jammer recommended. Still, if wanting to fight, max out durability first, then strength, then equip with max level ESF + Shockwave (or Stun Mine).
Why does this game get so much hate? Cops are “too hard” Powerups (ain’t gonna like it was most balanced in hot pursuit) Not starting in shit boxes “Need for speed should go back to its roots” (well this is kinda where it started, minus the cops and weapons and you basically have an old nfs game from the 90s) The game isn’t hard. Easy to play, hard to master and I genuinely have fun with cops. It’s why I’ve been playing for 6 years and it’s my most played (1300 hours). This game should get a remaster with the demo graphics, and some balancing on wea- oh wait, I could just play NFS Rivals plus, a mod that adds events, cars for be racers side, bug fixes, better graphics (optional), even harder AI, and balances to weapons and cop durability. As soon as I get a PC I am gonna install the mod!
This is a game thats supposed to be hard to master and intense if you cry about crashing into a car then maybe either try to position your car or stop playing
