ADA Wright is some kind of comic villain. The part where he invites the defense attorneys to apply at the DA’s office is hilarious
He's not joking. It's a cty for help.... I imagine lots of people have left and it's the less competent who are scared of change that are left. The vibe from that office is so toxic I can feel it here in UK
If I'm a judge and the DA lets Ds rot for years without indictment, I'd start dismissing cases real fast. And I would have at least sanctioned that jerk.

yeah Manning has had couple of cases where the defendant had been in jail over 600 days without indictment.. its really effin insane..

There's always a problem with this same ADA every time. Always of a similar nature. He's way overdue on issuing indictments, he's waffling back and forth like he doesn't know how to respond as his job requires him to do in court, when he's called out on it he gets inexcusably disrespectful. What is going on? 🤨🤦♀️

@@Meatball2022 he wasn’t even indicted for anything to be tried for. I don’t know what he allegedly did, but I don’t see how that’s not a 5th Amendment violation.

@@Meatball2022 it’s a prerequisite, so you can’t be tried until/unless a grand jury finds probable cause to go to trial. Mike would be able to provide more insight, but holding someone that long without deciding whether there’s even probable cause to go to trial falls under 5A. It’s rare, but what if the grand jury didn’t indict? Then he’s held for a year for nothing?
Keep in mind that what prosecutors do is only illegal if they get caught. They can do whatever they like and blame it on some paperwork being unclear. Since they're acting in their official capacity, you have no recourse other than hoping a judge listens to your attorney.

I absolutely adore judge Manning but that ADA Wright seems to be a real disgusting human being
100% think he may be a racist, and doesn’t care about what the charges are. I feel like he thinks if you commit a crime, you get to sit. A YEAR for obstruction and disorderly?! How is this dude still working here. He clearly doesn’t do his job and his goal is to put any criminal in jail and have them sit.
I’ve dealt with people like ADA Thomas. They’re incompetent at their job & they know it, but are extremely insecure about it. However, instead of trying to fix their problems they would rather deny it & blame others.
At a previous job the regional manager came to our restaurant to fix some problems we were having. However, she was mean to the 2 managers and myself. When I asked the GM why she didn’t like the three of us he said “Because we’re the ones that know she’s full of crap.”
Bigen is a beast with recording lol. And he admits if he messes up. Mike Bigen and Squishy are the best lol
Can you imagine how it would feel to be locked in a cell, not being able to afford 800$ on a bail for an 8k$ bond..... and sit there for a year without any ability to get out? ALL because a prosecutor charged you on an ALLEGATION!.... Good Lord.
*edit. A day in holding sucks. A holiday weekend when the judges/magistrate takes Monday off really sucks. A week in holding is miserable. Hell, some wild argue that a month in jail is better than a week in holding. But to sit for a year over an allegation! Sweet baby Jesus.*

This DA comes across as totally useless. Totally slow on the uptake. Amazing the number of over 90 days in detention with no movement by the DA.

This is the third time we seen Thomas. His first time I can’t remember the case, but he couldn’t even say a full sentence without pausing, and manning was getting so frustrated and I believe she started offering options. To move it along.

Here in MD the state has 30 days from the time a person waives preliminary or from the date of a preliminary to file an indictment or information with the Circuit court. If not, you go free. The State can re file but over a year is insane. Even if Covid was a factor.

One of the reasons Fulton county DA office is like this , they just had a major leadership change and the old DA was a activists who just to give you an example , 1 case he charged cops for threatening to use tasers on some unruly people they had stopped and charged them with threat of using a deadly weapon then a few months later charged 2 cops with murder after the subject stole one cop's taser and used it on the cop while trying to get the cops service weapon to shoot them. And so they have been trying to get the DA office cleaned up. That is my understandment of things

Agreed....anytime defendants are in jail too long it's due to the cops trying to do their job and the prosecutor refusing to prosecute..
Considering the issue is people sitting in jail too long without even an indictment I don’t think “activism” is the issue.
Re: Taser cop...if it's the same case I'm thinking of, the officer discharged his taser into the suspect then dropped the weapon as the guy was flailing, the officer straddling the perp, who was face down, unloaded a round into the back of his head...all for a case where the perp could've been picked up later.

The first case no taser deployed only threatened with it was a car of teenage girls that was legally stopped by the cops and they thought that they didn't have to do what the cops was telling them. second was the cops were called for a man passed out in a drive thru. cops were nice to him, got him awake and had him park the car. started asking questions found out he was impaired, suspended driving lic and a few more things. started to arrest him he fought them, was able to get one's taser, and was going after the cops gun. all on video

17:15 ew what a tiny man. He's throwing a tantrum because the defense attorney is pointing out the DA office's incompetence. She didn't say anything offensive or out of line. Can you imagine, in front of a judge, saying, "well if she and her client don't like how we run things then they can apply and do it themselves! Waaaahhhhh." In what universe would such an educated man think that this is an appropriate and professional way to behave during a conversation with a colleague while on the record? Don't get me wrong, I believe prosecutors have a moral obligation to effectively represent the people's interests, but it needs to be done in a respectful way and within the bounds of the law.
If they were such a threat to the community why does it take 300+ days to indict. So much for the 6th amendment. Looks like the state can just hold people in jail for almost a year while making no attempt to actually to indict and have a trial.

That ADA (Thomas? Wright?) is simply a tool. His response when called out was childish and unprofessional. “If they want to do the job they can apply.” No dude. They want you to do your job with reasonable care for the civil rights of an individual who has not been found guilty. If you can’t or don’t want to, find something else to do.
