      @@yobinky3677 I am not the author of the tutorials here, but I did purchase the 22 needle machine and successfully made the tube socks. For the 40 hook machine, it is my guess that the tube would come out way to large for a tube sock, but you could possibly use the 40 hook machine, make them in a panel and sew up the side in order to get the same effect and correct size for a tube sock. But this is just my guess.

    I own an Addi express and think it’s important to note that because of the machine gauge these socks in single ply will have a thin heel and open weave once on your foot. I’d definitely double the length and put half inside the other half for thickness. Even doubled, these are more like house socks not ones you’d wear with shoes. I’ve tried different methods, but never found them to be overly comfortable. Just another opinion.

    • @yobinky3677
      @yobinky3677 6 месяцев назад

      Do you find the Sentro one is sturdy? I was considering the 40, no idea if socks will even work out on it.
      Can you skip hooks when casting on to adjust the size?

    • @wdbreezy
      @wdbreezy 6 месяцев назад

      @@yobinky3677 The Sentros are plastic, but if set up on a smooth surface, they’re fairly stable. I liked the Sentro for acrylic hats, but not all yarns work on either the Addis or the Sentros. You can’t adjust the gauge, so skipping a needle would create a loose and larger weave. I just don’t think the Addi or Sentro are ideal for a quality sock, but are wonderful for hats, stuffed animals, scarves and other items.
      If you’re looking to make socks, a 3D csm or an Erlbacher Speedy or similar seem a better option. Just my opinion.

    I made socks as instructed in this video, but they turned out narrow. What I mean is they fit on my foot, but the gaps between the stitches stretched so much that the socks looked like they had wholes in them.
    I have an idea. I will try knitting a pannel on my Sentro machine. A few pannels. Then crochet them together into a sock, in order to have a wider sock. Idk if it will work.

      A 48 needle gives you 12.598" flat and 9.4" round
      40 needle gives you 10" flat and 7.87" round
      22 needle gives you 5.11" flat and 3.5" round.
      The circumference of the ball of my size 11 xtra wide feet is 9.5".
      I bought a 40 needle. Got it in the mail yesterday. Haven't tried it out yet. I maybe should have gotten the 48 needle, because the 40 needle is still going to have to stretch a lot and I like cotton socks; however, I also bought the wooden Kb sock loom with the metal pins, which is adjustable.
      One way or another I'll figure it out.

    • @SandcastleDreams

      @@lisaarmstrong3428 Well, I haven't started on the socks yet. I had ordered Loom Knitting Primer. Got tired of waiting on it and got it at the Library. UGH! Copyright 2007.
      So, when the book I ordered came in, I noticed the cover was different and it had the adjustable wooden sock loom on the cover. "fully revised and updated", and it is! A lot better! YAY! The copyright date is 2016.
      The instructions are a lot clearer.
      I found sock weight yarn at my Dollar Tree.
      I'm still working on some other stuff so it might be awhile, but I believe I am going to stick with the Kb sock loom Fine Gauge, and settle for whatever sock yarn I can find even if it isn't cotton. That loom is adjustable.
      Also, the book tells you what size yarn to use based upon distance between pegs/hooks.
      These knitting machines might be good for craft projects, but for socks with heels, I'm going to stick with the adjustable loom. I can't afford to buy a bunch of machines that are not going to give me the results I want.
      And, the loom book shows you how to knit all kinds of cool stitches with different ways of binding off.
      They also have a website with more advanced projects.
      So, if you like working with fine sock yarn size 2, get a sock loom with the pegs (1/4" from center of peg to center of peg). If you like working with standard size 4 yarn for thicker socks get a regular guage peg loom (1/2" from center of peg to center of peg). There are sizes in-between and larger and finer.
      Its not so much the diameter of the peg, but the spacing that determines what size yarn you can use.
      I would suggest that you get the book and read it. It covers buying looms. Otherwise you'll spend a ton of money and still only end up with tube socks that may or may not be the right size.
      I want real socks with heels. I want thin socks so my feet aren't hot and I don't have to buy a larger pair of shoes to wear them.
      I ALMOST went and bought the Mushroom knitting machine because it would give a wider tube. Then I realized after reading enough reviews that it only liked size 4 worsted yarn and a lot of people hated it because it crunched and sometimes would stop working after a month.
      I'm so glad I got that book! Saved me a lot of money.

      Hi Kimberly,
      What color are you using for your socks? The Kroy does seem like it would be scratchy/itchy but it actually wasn't for me. I made another pair of socks on the sentro with a crocheted heel that I've been wearing over the last few months and they've held up really well so far. I don't wear these mini socks too often but I imagine that they'd hold up fine 😊

    • @InfinitiCraftingCo

      Yes. It's also a gauge thing. 1 weight yarn knits up too thin on this machine if it's single stranded. Double strands make the fabric solid enough for socks.
