    The whole glitchy Reagan (and others) in the diner is a nod to Max Headroom. A weird TV thing (personality and eventually show) from the 80'S did exactly that. It was part of the whole act to make it more convincing it was a completely computerized AI being, and not just some actor in heavy makeup. It's obvious now, but apparently it fooled a number of people in the 80s who weren't used to that sort of thing.

    Don't think it snapped because he used the wrong wrench. I think the 1955 Doc realized he needed a 3/4 inch wrench when the 5/8 inch wrench didn't work, and the 1985 Doc remembered he initially grabbed the wrong wrench, so nothing of significance changes there. Like ripples in a pond, small things flatten out quickly, larger things have more of an effect.

    • @G1NZOU
      @G1NZOU 2 года назад +12

      This, and also 1985 Doc would know that 1955 Doc would look up and go up to the toolbox when he realised the wrench was wrong, so anticipating that meant he kept focusing on his work and didn't look directly at 1985 Doc.

      I just want to add the brilliance of the score's title for this scene: _"Pair o' Docs."_

    • @Cheepchipsable
      @Cheepchipsable 2 года назад +1

      Events revolved around the lightning strike on the clock, so provided the Doc had the cable connected, their interaction wouldn't have made any difference. The wire didn't break, it used a plug and socket. When the Doc was on the clocktower he unplugged the lower cable by yanking it too hard.
      Using the wrong wrench would just mean he couldn't tighten the nut and he would have to get the correct size. 5/8 would be too small - 5/8 vs 6/8 to make it obvious.
      Don't forget the "new" 1985 Doc would remember having helped Marty return to the future from 1955.
      1985 Doc just remembered he had the wrong wrench 30 years ago.

    BACK TO THE FUTURE never intended to have sequels. The ending was basically a joke and they thought it'd be hilarious if Jennifer got thrown into the time machine with Marty and Doc. It was one final, over-the-top, hilarious gag to end their comedy sci-fi flick on.
    When the studio and Spielberg approached Zemeckis and the writers to go ahead and make a second film, they freaked because they realized that Jennifer has no story purpose in the sequel and now they were stuck with her. Reportedly they did write drafts where Jennifer became essentially part of a heroic trio with Doc and Marty, but it never worked and nobody was happy with the dynamic.
    It's for this reason that Jennifer spends the entire film's runtime basically unconscious because they had to get rid of her without complicating their own story and it was the only solution they could come up with.

    Regarding Jennifer not having to be there, yes - but the first movie ended with her traveling with them to the future, and back when they made the first movie, the ending was just a fun gag, they did not expect to make a sequel. Now that they made a sequel, they needed to figure out a way to write around the fact that Jennifer traveled with them. So they put her to sleep for most of the movie lol.

    Here is a mind bending idea for you. Marty most likely died a few times in this movie.
    Death #1 Marty didn't know where to go in Biff's mansion and ended up on the roof. How would the Doc know to save Marty from the roof unless Marty jumped or was shot off the roof at least once.
    Death #2 How would the Doc know to drop the banner from the sky at that exact moment when he can't see what is going on in the tunnel with Biff chasing Marty. He must have run Marty over at least once before Doc knew exactly when to drop the banner.
    I am open to a friendly debate on the idea but it seems like a likely scenario to me.

However, "Violá," he has the time machine at his disposal to go back 10, 15, 20, etc, etc, minutes to be there at the precise moment he needs to be to save Marty.

    • @martyklestadt6766
      @martyklestadt6766 2 года назад +2

      I agree with jeweljin about the banner.
      As far as the roof, my guess would be that Doc and Marty had planned that out in advance. Two reasons I believe this:
      One, Biff asked Marty how he'd gotten past the security downstairs. The answer is Doc had also dropped him off on the roof when they arrived.
      Second reason is that when Marty gets (back) to the roof, he looks and doesn't see Doc yet. The plan was for Doc to come back and pick him up from the roof, but they didn't quite sync that up. Doc fortunately then showed up just in time.

    • @abrecordsdjschool
      @abrecordsdjschool 2 года назад

      @@martyklestadt6766 There is no way they had planned on jumping off the roof onto the hood of a car unless they had done this a few time. Did you ever see "Edge Of Tomorrow" . He has to die a few times before they get the plan just right. Doc could have dropped him on the roof to avoid security because he may have got caught trying to get past them a few times before. I am saying their plan my have had to have been worked out with some unfortunate trial and error. Doc could easily use Mr.Fusion to repeatedly come back to re-plan.
      Movie tension does not explain the banner near the tunnel when you are talking about movie theory. I'll say it again...Doc can not see what is happening in the tunnel. Logic would say that Doc would just go to the other end of the tunnel to get Marty. But instead Doc picks him up just in time with the banner by the entrance way. I say it must have been re-planned several times, or at least once. The whole storyline of part II is about going back to fix past mistakes.

Would you watch it again ? How would you rate it on a scale of 1-10 ?
    When a person recommends a film to a friend, family member, or colleague, the FIRST thing we want to know being the person of influence is, “Did you like the movie ?” “What did you think ? and would you watch it again?”

    Director Robert Zemeckis said that initially, a sequel was not planned for the first film, but its huge box office success led to the conception of a second installment. He later agreed to do a sequel, but only if Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd returned as well. With Fox and Lloyd confirmed, Zemeckis met with screenwriting partner Bob Gale to create a story for the sequel. Zemeckis and Gale would later regret that they ended the first one with Jennifer in the car with Marty and Doc Brown, because it required them to come up with a story that would fit her in, rather than a whole new adventure.

    First off, always love your reactions and perspectives to movies! Sometimes thought provoking and other times just plain funny. Keep'em coming!
    Second, this movie series is a classic for so many reasons. The hidden gems along the way of the changes in the timeline, such as Twin Pines mall becoming Lone Pine Mall after Marty ran over the pine tree in the past, or that Biff is having trouble getting out of the DeLorean when he returns from the past because he changed the past which meant he was fading like Marty was in the first movie (although more about it was in a deleted scene), really reward a person for paying attention but doesn't distract from the movie itself. And although all the actors help this story come to life, I always enjoy Thomas F. Wilson who plays Biff because he's a super funny and nice guy in real life, but he plays a real s.o.b. in these movies so good.
    Edit: Doc helping himself with the weather equipment wouldn't stop what was already in motion most likely since in the original timeline/story it came unplugged due to Doc adding tension on the line when he was trying to plug it back it at the clock tower.... but glad to see you both are thinking forward.
