  • Trip down into the spectacular Upper Coyote Canyon in the Anza Borrego Desert, California . Spent a beautiful night under the stars at Bailey's cabin. This area is remote and we saw no other people; there is no cell phone coverage. Next day went down to Middle Willows. Accounts from 2014-19 show a mostly overgrown trail, bearly passable on foot and needing a machete. Then there were years of dry weather and the extended Covid ABDSP Closure. The trail followed the creek. The water has gone. The trail is gone for now. Detours are NOT recommended. The exit is by a U-turn and back out up the Turkey track to Anza (~2000 feet).
