Blue velvet watch-along and discussion ?
Under the Silver Lake is at least the best movie in 10 years. On a personal level, I haven't resonated with a movie like this since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I hate critics for not getting it, but it's probably for the best
Me thinks "critics" or more specifically "those funding critics" understand the movie far TOO well
8 mins in and 2 dudes still havent had a chance to say a word.
Grift and Jules are just there to look pretty.
@@MKUltraMoney if thats their purpose, youre gonna need prettier statues.
@@jdogsful yeah like a hot woman
@@jdogsful I think Jules is very pretty, although you may prefer him shirtless.
@@MKUltraMoney Based and Shirtless Bros pilled.
Bill Hicks put it well. Youthful rebellion is genuine, but the corporations are quick to exploit it, which leads to more youthful rebellion, a continuous cycle. Shelley said something to same effect: artists lead the way.
That's an awesome reference !
Over the counter counter revolution.
13:35 Jules says doo doo
No way! The last scene is also perfectly added. The movie follows the journey of the Mayor Arcana of the Tarot. The last scene depicts The World card and if you notice, he’s progressed because he went from having meaningless doggy-style sex with women that didn’t care about him to having conscious sex with a woman mature enough to be a mother. Also, when he looks at his apartment on the other side, he lets go of his past-immature life to live as the man he became out of his hero’s journey. He crossed to the other side, he became a man.
There's a great horror film called "Starry Eyes" that pretty much exposed all the "metoo" stuff years before, metaphorically.
The film also makes it clear that it's never a one-sided arrangement.
Great story and realistic, recognizable characters, highly recommended.
It's in the title. Under the Silver lake. Silver lake is known as Diana's mirror. A lake in Rome. Mass Sac....ce.
The lake is surrounded by woods, that gives Hollywood it's namesake.
I remembered Kino saying he didn't like this one.
Glad he came around. Real good film.
Yeah he liked it way more when we rewatched it together
Soory, who is kino? Kinobody?
No way they would let anyone make that kind of film and get away with it, if the director gets offed like Kubrick it'll be validated. Otherwise false flag for me
The film was buried and DRM is essentially a no one to anyone but cinephiles. They don’t need to off him.
I was wondering the same thing
@@MKUltraMoney Also, the film he made before this was called 'It follows' This film is "it"
What is the geometry of that brick wall? What the hell is going on with that thing?
Coyotes are dog killers 😊
Didn’t anyone catch that ?
You can’t watch this movie, discuss it and NOT mention Lynch’s Mulholland Drive.
You just can’t, and if you do, then you just don’t know.
They did mention it.
I’m glad there is talk about this movie, and I appreciate the enthusiasm for it. But I disagree with a lot of the points being made. To pick one, I think the in-film ending is important to show how this unhealthy person is detached even more from normal*, adjusted reality. The film is told from Sam’s POV, so this is a “victory,” but I believe we are supposed to evaluate that position from our personal angles
Most of the film is told from the point of view of Sam's subconscious.
Never heard of this film, I'm excited to watch it now. Thank you for the discussion and recommendation.
My pleasure I hope you love it!
what coulda been cool is if Sam ends up going back to the music mansion and replaces the old dude he smashed. Picks up the guitars and begins writing the new stuff.
maybe he takes his new old girlfriend with him, and they take their parrots
The end scene is important, she's what those women become at the end if they don't go with the Hollywood beliefs
Code geass was obsessed with pizza because they were being sponsored by Pizza hut, this might be a bit obscured because in later versions all the pizza hut logos were removed.
Every pizza reference was used as another reason to show off a pizza hut logo.
Table-chan saw worse than a 🍕
Shout out to my boi Kino
In a way the hero does succeed. I mean he may not have saved the girl but the girl he loves is getting married. What he really cares about are his codes. That's what really matters and he succeeded where the comic guy didn't. He vindicated the Comic guy. But more than that he's now an insider. He's got leverage in a way. He's part of a higher club. He cracked the code. They're telling him keep quiet. So all he has to do is keep quiet. He's not having to look over his shoulder. Remember Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Ready Player One. Those movies were tests to see if you had the right mindset. He's got that stair at the end. In "Full Metal Jacket" When Pyle is "Born Again" he has that stair. He's a killer. He's what the Marines wanted him to be. He's no longer one of those in the rat race. He's figurred it out. He's special. If he can figure out the conspiracy he can do anything. No matter what. He's somebody now. He cracked the code.
Did you forget Pyle shot himself or is this a bit?
He's not a hero. He IS the comic guy. He might have cracked the code, but he did nothing with it, except leaving clues only he could find.
Just watched it, songwriter scene IS the movie, totally agree. Always wondering about mechanisms to tell people they have been lied to that they will actually respond to.
Very good analysis of the film you guys layers upon layers I recently watch it a couple weeks ago after watching it I couldnt stop thinking about it I really think this is the last film for millennials I found myself resonating with it one of the greatest films of the 2010s will definitely be watching again soon
Loved this episode just saw this movie recently it’s becoming my favorite movie❤❤
14 min or so in, signaling through media - this has long been done in music. Mainly starting with the beatles, throughout their career, particularly after Paul was replaced, they were using codes, symbolism and literal magick in every aspect of their music. To this day recognizing it fully and recreating it within your own music is both your invitation to and acceptance into their working.
also in songwriters house paul's bass is next to kurt's guitar.
bang on, its insane how so many people who do these breakdown just ignore this but it seems like the magick spells etc have a stronghold on society
Symbolism has existed in art since the dawn of man. Language evolves but some symbols will always remain.
I just watched it. I do not understand who the owl was
probably represents the bohemian grove elites
I was expecting one the girls to reveal themselves as the owl like in scream
The 3 Dolls & movie they watch together was _How to Marry a Millionaire,_ breakout rolls for young Monroe & Bacall, Betty Grable's last hurrah before MILF second stringer status. Funny, given the Pharoh tomb situation.
Balloon Girl: _Saint Simon of Trent;_ Ariel Toaff's _Blood Passover._
13:47 _Steganography:_ Scaling organization & hierarchies at societal scale is difficult. A wink & a nod keeps it simple, _"Give this a good review.", "Kafabe, just a role."_
27:30 Evola's "second esoteric truth of Bolshevism": _Nothing is true, and everything is permitted._
_Behind the Black Monolith, Under the Silver [Screen]_ UTSL upstaged _Once Upon a Time in Hollywood_ as far as I'm concerned, fantastic Hitchcock/De Palma murder-mystery and suitable successor in the line of _Eyes Wide Shut._ Trier's debut _Element of Crime_ and most recent _House that Jack Built_ are great critical and satiric takes on the Hollywood mass sex murderer obsession; he has a sort of dialogue going on with Tarantino (even Lynch) in film; the former said of _Dogville:_ "[This] is the best script I've ever read." The follow up _Manderlay_ is even more hilarious and vicious in light of recent Tariq Nasheed posting.
Spooky movie. It captures the feeling of being a paranoid skitzo very well. Which is very comforting if that makes sense.
The pose that Podesta had hanging from his ceiling, or has still, is called The Arc of Hysteria.
Bleeps need to be less annoying
Excellent breakdown!
Nice Monado hanging on the wall back there.
Based and xenobladepilled
i do think Sam was the dog killer
This guy is doing a hack job explaining gnostic thought.
most times the ppl talking should be the very ones shutting up and listening
the song writer is mephisto from the mephisto waltz (and culture)
the "life" masks reminded me of that movie too
maybe let the other two guys talk. You gave them microphones, after all.
What women got killed in this movie? I don’t remember any ?
Good movie recommendation
well done 👏
Thank you!
How bout the beginning with the pretty girl with big chest and the doors shirt on ?
Maybe you shouldn’t have the most pedantic dude ever talk for the first five minutes
"like" doesn't have to be every other word.
I'm actually just sending subliminal messages to remind people to hit the like button.
*PRE-FACE*
…wow; such brilliant pronunciation.
Who’s the old song writer?
Ask Ye.
Songwriter wrote Gold Digger, why do you think Ye hates it?
Lol that was on point, no cap
He does not go to church on sunday
not really it is the antimimon of awareness, promotes hopelessness and the old trophe of humans cannot do nothing to end the archontic infection

This is cool.. i have a whole train hobo code book. And they got it Dead on. A hobo code for barking or dangerous dog. Is drawn Like /\/\/\
UTSL
One of the most pretentious movies I've ever seen. It kept screaming are you as smart as we are. The only good part is the death of the Musician. He looked like Mike in Breaking Bad whose face was run over by Tuco.
Funny is the girl at the end tells him to get a dog what she really means is get a woman
Watched this movie around a year ago, only because I saw you had it rated at 5/5 on ltrbxd. Instantly became one of my favorites.
Love to hear that
