      That’s my problem with JJ McCarthy. I only saw one throw like that within anticipation in college, and to be honest on that throw, it was versus Ohio State, he didn’t see the underneath defender, who, for whatever reason, turned around instead of just jumping up and picking the ball off. You don’t see those kind of throws on tape with JJ McCarthy, but it was everywhere with guys like Drake, Penix, and Nix. McCarthy can learn to throw with anticipation, which is about spatial awareness, not necessarily something you can coach into a person, then he will be very good.

      @mikesteelheart 4 дня назад +3

      Yeah the big contract was bad but he literally dragged those teams to wins after Zimmer's defense took a nose-dive. Do you honestly think Case Keenum would've done better without the elite 2017 level defense? Cousins did exactly what he was paid to do. He outdueled Drew Brees in a playoff game, it's not his fault Dalvin Cook rarely showed up in the playoffs when it mattered and Zimmer's once great defense got completely outshined by The 49ers. Even Aaron Rodgers lost to that defense. You can blame Kirk for The Giants loss if you want but to act like all of the playoff losses are his fault is ignorant.

    I’m not a fan nor a hater of Kirk Cousins. Financially, he took advantage of being a near-ish top 10 QB. There are always teams that will overpay to try to fill a gap to improve their odds of competing for a championship. Rarely does that actually work out though.
    The Vikings are a different team though with Darnold. I think it’s more than just Darnold but this team has rallied around him like no team ever has done for Kirk.

    It'a predictable that you would take the ultimate enjoyment at bashing Cousins for taking Tuesdays off. He works 6 days a week during the season and finds that it is best for him to spend 1 day a week with his family. Being the type of father and husband that he is in all probability not spending a day with his family would negatively affect his play.
    Also how much better do you expect Cousins to play. His numbers in 2023 were better than Sam Darnold's numbers this year. Even without that great defense at his back. Last year the Vikings would have been 8-0 with Cousins as a starter if the Vikings were not leading the league by a mile in both drops and fumbles with wins over the Chiefs, 49ers, Eagles, Packers and Bucs. 5 playoffs teams and both Super Bowl participants. He had MVP numbers and still you criticize. Also let's not forget that O'Connell tried extremely hard to get Cousins to stay because unlike you he knew what he had.

    Wow, I had no idea Kirk was a slacker, because his strengths were always his accuracy & his business approach/work ethic to his preparation and now we find out he wasn’t working on Tuesday’s and of course he didn’t do anything on Monday’s. Kind of reminds me of Joe Biden who spent 40% of his time on vacation, as he took 570 days off! I was advocating for the past 3 years that the team get rid of KC who was a single dimensional QB with no ability/willingness to use his feet to extend plays probably to preserve his health because he knew that is how you continue to get paid. The team kept dumping more assets into the offense at the expense of a perennial top 10 defense under Zimmer to try to get more out of KC. In the end the Vikings paid KC 200 million for one playoff victory in 6 years!

      The process occurs in the opposite sequence. The tag occurs before he gets to FA - so if Kwesi want's him, Sam never gets to test the market. That's why he won't get top dollar - it's discount or tag at $41m, and maybe even trade to another dumpster fire team. Sam loves it at the Vikes, and they love him. They'll work something out after the season and SB celebrations. Now is not the time.
