    An abusive parent is worst than an absent parent. So people are thanking there lucky stars that their abusive biological parents were absent; they probably turned out better for it.

    Gary, your stories are so authentic, personal, relatable, and just so damn funny! BUT what I love the most is that you present your podcast as if you're just speaking to one viewer. It's so captivating and engaging. That's why you're great at your profession. I'm here for it!

    Gary, it's amazing that you used laughter to heal your heart. A many a dude that had dealt with those types of parents could easily end up on 48 Hours. You are operating in your gifts and the world is a better place because of it.❤❤❤❤ As far as your kids go, you maintain authenticity in who you are and your honest feelings about the relationship you desire with them. God's gonna work all that out! Until then, protect your heart and don't allow them to disrepect you, not as a Dad or a human. Everyone deserves that.

    I am so glad I found this. We grew up in very much the same way. My stepdad has been my stepdad for 47 years. I left and went to LA when I was young to get away from him. I was in Indiana. I am now in Phoenix AZ and so is he and my Mom. They came out to be close to my half brother. I spent 7 years homeless after a bad motorcycle accident and have had zero help from them. I am still struggling with homelessness because I can't be around him. I am now 55 years old, 3 years ago he attacked me..choked me then started throwing punches...I didnt hit back. I have health problems now and live in a broken down motorhome that I have to move every 72 hours. I tried to break free...but it didn't work.

    Gary I commend you for being able to talk about your step dad. What I take from this is hurting people hurt people. I'm convinced he was mistreated as a child and he is jealous of you. Look at it on the bright side. He gave you a ton of material to talk about. Look at you now. In the meantime I'm going to pray that you and your children are able to mend your relationship. Keep professing your love for your children and they will eventually see these podcasts and know how you feel. Plus your kids are young. Once they experience their own relationships, they will understand how relationships really work.

    As someone who grew up without my father around most of the time, I think having an abusive step father would be worse. My mom never remarried or really had a relationship with anyone else.
    I am glad I wasn’t around my dad as much in his younger years. He said the same thing. There are things I wish he was around for, but he struggled with addiction and didn’t want me to see that as much as possible.
    Things got better once my son was born. My dad went to prison a few years before that and calmed down a lot, but he was still an addict and was wild.
    He passed away almost 3 years ago.

    Your dad probably does feel guilty for not being there for you, but he was young. He was being the best parent he knew how to be at that time. I often say rejection is protection. Who knows how you would have turned out if he was in your life. I'm a firm believer that the steps we've been ordered is what made us who we are today. I'm also praying for healing with your relationship with your real dad.

    Anyone who says their biological parent made them who they are , didn’t have enough hate or anger pure enough to see clearly enough to learn they have to be better people than their parents. It take a special kind of anger to want to be better than your parents in every way imaginable. And in a good way. The kind of anger to confront a bully or to protect loved ones from a bigger danger and no way to survive. The anger gives 🔥 and strength to do things

    • @TiffTALKS22
      @TiffTALKS22 8 месяцев назад

      Anger is the secondary emotion. The primary is usually hurt/pain. The mistreatment does make you better because it teaches you who you DON'T want to be. But you don't have to get to angry or hateful in order to decide to be better than what you lived.
