An incredibly beautiful watch from one of the best and most affordable Swiss manufacturers. Universal Genève is just up there and this watch shows why. Thank you for this video, though you could have said a few (!) things about the watch, the micro rotor in particular. 👍👏👌❤😉.
I totally enjoyed your videos on this type of movement! It is fascinating to see how tech problems were solved in the past. In my opinion, this micro rotor denies the laws of physics:) The larger is the oscillating weight diameter, the less total volume and mass is needed for producing a certain amount of energy compared to a smaller diameter weight. And they still decided to design this weird construction! But I like this kind of approach, to dare to design something nobody else has already tried...
As my Mate Vince would say: Result! The watch came out beautiful and the accuracy is dead on. I especially like the very small, but very thick, rotor. Thanks you for a very enjoying video.
I usually drop one of the tiny screws from the rotor into the watch on assembly. It's a difficult thing to do. Also the pallet fork is very small here. These are difficult to oil.
Dear Sir: Having had the micro rotor arbor on my 218-2 movement replaced the mass still wobbles and its starting to scratch the back of the movement cover. So I imagine that the micro rotor jewel is worn out. Could this ruby be replaced?
Ohhh, you bring me a big pain in my heart and chills in my spine when you sand that crystal. BRUTAL. 800/1500-2000/3000-5000. Wet sanding paper. It is absolutely the best. And just wetsand it. Lesser job. More precis and you will just go so deep that you need to. Also its much faster. Wettex cloth bottom, crystal, pointer and middle finger in circles over the wetsand paper. Just little Polywatch after, or what ever you prefer,
@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes I saw your polishing machine later that. I commented and stopped the video and commented. As I said it hurt. The outcome counts. ;)
Nice work. Some points for improvement 1. The case is seriously damaged near the caseback, and that shiuld be addressed 2. It was nice if you could source the original criwn for the video 3. If the crystal was original, you absolutely abused it and sanded out the Universal logo. It may be a 200$ crystal 😮
I did not want to replate the case. I could not find the original crown and the logo was not there and the scratches were quite deep so I had to sand it quite a lot
A very quiet video but very very nice! Great restoration , this UG are I think are some of the most elegant calibers! very nice thank you!
I love the UG calibers. You are right they are great
I love this dial shape. The movement is also very beautiful, especially this type of automatic winding mechanism.
It is a lovely watch with a great caliber
Beautiful work, please bring back the voice over, its much nicer to watch in my opinion 😊
No waaayyyy!!! Love to learn !
Don't worry I will still do videos with my voice. I already have a video with this caliber and my voice
@@FrenchWatchCollector Ah I didn't realise, thank you
I see what you mean and agree, but it was too much in all of the previous videos.
Agreed, your narration is excellent
Well done. Beautiful watch. Still have to get myself a micro rotor watch.
They are great and beautiful
Those have to be some of the prettiest movement out there. Nice work, thanks!
I agree 100% with you
😢 Je ne suis jamais dans ta liste de Patreon! Jean Luc! Superbe vidéo, merci!
Désolé Jean Luc mais pour la liste c'est juste la league supérieure
so addicted to watching this just because the movement is so nicely decorated
Yes it is a nice one
Great restoration👍 What a lovely movement. Another one added to the wish list 😁
Thank you
Tres bien.. Great job on the serving of that fine looking piece. Nice movement and finish. Looks great with that strap too. NIcely done.
Thank you Thomas
Very nice! The restoration of the case was a blessing to this survivor. I love how UG used the mini-rotor for the automatic winding.
Thank you Dean
I like your commentary too.
They will be back

I already have a video on the channel with the same caliber
Again a beautiful watch and a nice video. I see you use blue grease, is that a variant of the moebius grease?
Yes, it is. Moebius 9501
Prachtig gedaan👍is weer als nieuw
Very nice! I’m guessing that the case is solid gold, as gold plating or even rolled gold would not have stood up to the vigorous buffing?
No it is plated. I used a finishing wheel so it is just to make it shine and not to polish it
Wow! Thanks! I will try this on a plated case and see how it goes. I’m guessing the buffing compound was red rouge - very gentle?
@@paulschumacker9901 Yes it is gentle
El genio de su creador Gerald Genta. Gracias Master.
The best

That is the beauty of watchmaking. Différent solution for the same problem
could you check for beat error putting the balance into the unwound watch? Beautiful work there BTW
You can check it by eye but it is not accurate. If you want to have the réal reading you need to put it on the time grapher

Yes the screws are small. Don’t remember that the pallet is smaller

Yes it can be replaced
@@FrenchWatchCollector Merci beaucoup! Where do I ship the watch in France and how much will it cost to repair?
great video again but how come theres no voice over
I already did a polerouter on a channel with a voice over
Great work as always Perfect. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thanks
Gerald Genta creations wonderfully collector pieces
Love it too
The micro-rotor movements are elegant machines (this one especially).
Ah ba bye!
I love the micro rotors
I agree with Ralfy Customs.
Just a try but don't worry I will still do videos with my voice

Great video! I like you work better when you verbally narrate.
It will come back
My microrotor comes off, what could be happening, thank you
Just check the screws and plate and see if nothing is broken
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
👍
Keep the voice-over.
It was just a try
Ce n'est pas pareil sans le commentaire :(

I won't watch the silent stuff because I want to know what's going on

BTW fantastic job and what a beautiful movement. I prefer when you talk. But it is a good video.
Thanks
The scratches were quite deep so I had to use a strong sand paper. I prefer to polish the crystal on the polishing machine
@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes I saw your polishing machine later that. I commented and stopped the video and commented. As I said it hurt. The outcome counts. ;)
What's with the no speak about it

You ruined the case by polishing it…it was so sharp and nice before 😔
I did not polish the case. It is gold plated so if it was polished the plating would be gone
sound doesn't work, not going to watch it...I'll wait for the update.
I already have a video of this caliber with comments
Hey where is the commentary? I want to hear what you got to say, your opinion counts. In fact I'm not gonna watch to the end.
Just a different type of video. I will not stop the comments but I already have a video with comments on this caliber
