I feel exactly the same way you do. If I had known then what I know now and all I’ve had to go through with koi getting sick, I would have never even started keeping koi. At times I feel so overwhelmed and at a loss as to what to do next. I’ve lost 12 koi already this season and will probably lose more. Just one problem after another. Was just about to start our new sleeper pond build but put a hold on it because I recently learned some koi I bought (I’m in the states) may have been infected with KHV. I’m going to have them tested. If it comes back positive, I’m done! I would have to euthanize my entire collection in both my ponds. Thousands of dollars worth of high quality koi. I’ll be totally gutted. I truly hope your koi get well soon. At least saving some of them may make it feel more worth it.

I think you should always keep your quarantine tank up and running so as the filter is seasoned and its ready for the next problem,

I agree, after having introduced numerous problems to my pond via “new” fish from unscrupulous dealers who should know better, no Koi enter my pond without first being quarantined!
I’m always surprised by how many Koi keepers buy new fish, often at shows and just add them to their existing stock without any form of quarantine and then wonder why they have problems!
Having learned the hard way with huge losses while keeping Koi for 30 odd years I’d never now be without a quarantine facility!

Hi John. The Yami is from Suda. I did contact you before your holiday to see if you courier koi. I am very interested in the Gin Rin Showa with the heavy Sumi, how much is it please ? I am also after a Gin Rin Goshiki (I do like the one in the vid but prefer one with a bit more beni). Can you send me video of what koi you have and how much they are please ?😅

I honestly think the lack of access amateur fish keepers have to antibiotics is a scandal. Hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of fish are dying needlessly. If that was happening to dogs they’d overthrow the government. I don’t understand why fish keepers couldn’t attend a VET approved course that would allow you to vaccinate your fish. Your licence would have a 3 to 5 year expiry date to ensure you keep up with any industry changes. Obviously you’d have still have to get a vet to prescribe the antibiotics, which gives them additional income. The industry needs to have a campaign to get the veterinary industry and government to approve such a course imo. I’d keep a few gold fish in your quarantine tank, they are not a trouble and not a lot of cost if you lose a couple. Thanks for your updates.

@@bezzaskoichannel3856 I’m going through the similar thing, lost 2 out of three fish I bought from a single dealer. The third is in big trouble but it’s fighting on, been going on since Feb, thing is none of my other koi are affected? Have you tried the Seneye Pond water monitor, it’s great to keep an eye on your ammonia, water level, temps, oxygen, Ph and it notifies you if they go out of the levels you set. It’s taken a lot of stress out of monitoring the health of the pond, for me at least. Good luck and thanks for the content.

Keep a few goldfish or shubumpkins in there to keep it running n the filter mature. They will also keep any poorly koi company when u av to add one as they can get depressed on their own 👍🐟

@@bezzaskoichannel3856 Your right, but Goldfish are very hardy and unlikely to be effected .
I generally run mine with salt at 0.30, monitor all new acquisitions for around 6-8 weeks and treat as necessary.
For koi with problems, it’s much easier and cost effective for treating as you can raise the temperature, salt and treat without effecting the main pond. Also makes catching and treating topically much easier and less stressful!
