- Over the next few weeks we are going to look into Floyd Rose setups, so Bob is laying the foundation with a tip on preparing your Floyd Rose guitar, including cleaning the fingerboard and oiling the mechanics. What a champ.
"You don't want America to invade, with that much oil on the board" Hahahaha, gold!
Lmao I laughed so hard at the intro. Good videos bro. I’m watching this to hopefully set up my Floyd Rose without paying $100 lol
Damn I felt your anger toward America lmao I'm american and this is still funny
6 seconds of video and you earn a like. That tough face XD
great video, thanks alot
You see how the Floyd Rose is all stained and shit? Is there an easy way to re-polish it and make it shiny again? Mine is like that and I don't know what to do..
Make sure you know how to put it back together, take it apart and polish the parts with a polish pad for drills, some polish pasta for metals, it will easily go off, and some soft microcloths, have a waterspray ready to keep the polish pad damp just in case, and maybe some turtle wax to finish it off.
Note! Always read the instructions on the fretboard conditioner, some are really different
I've been playing for around 17 years never learned how to restring, polish or work in any way on a floyd or a board. 'Bout time I learned hey?
Probably worth a shot...
Can I use almond oil for the fingerboard instead? great vid btw tnq :)
What is underneath the Floyd?
I have a floyd rose that won't go all the way back ( it has no hole at the back) can I just leave it without strings. will it destroy my intonation?
Should I use the steel wool thing on my ebony fingerboard, I hear people say ebony is finished so steel wool will take the finish off, is this true? thanks
Noah Vieira Thanks for your question. It really depends on the guitar. If you are worried about it, er on the side of caution and use a fretboard cleaner and a rag, and just get stuck into it. - Bob.
why dont you like lemon oil for fingerboards? does it also re hydrate the wood?
No it doesn't.

does using steel wool changes the color of a rosewood board for example? (due to the scratch)
thanks! i just refretted my guitar, and it rust quickly (its brownish colored now). the hardware also corroded. i believe its because i started to put it on my room instead of the case. might be because some of the bug spray someone sprayed in my room i dunno.
khoirus sobri Depending on where you live, humidity will cause erosion, and if you are one the coast, that could happen very quickly. If this is the case, it's a good idea to keep the guitar in its case when not in use. There are also numerous products on the market that will help control temperature and humidity within your case to try and lessen the effects of nature on your guitar. Should go with the grain, not against it like he did.
What is the best oil to use to clean it I have 2 Dean's
Fret doctor for sure
Go with the grain, not against it.
It's just a stupid idea to use steel wool on your fretboard. You can use a piece of cloth, a little bit of lighter fluid, and it's clean, it evaporates quickly and leaves no marks. If the fretboard is too dirty, use a soft toothbrush.
0:06 - Six seconds in and already unnerved a bit. That face and something about "Bob's Tip" that I find somewhat disturbing and uncomfortable.
Young Frankenstein 😂😂😂
"Don't want America to invade because there's so much oil." ~ Fuck you, Bob. Just fuck you. Okay, moving on to the second video!
Young Frankenstein What are you talking about? Lighten up. This is a great tutorial.
