Thanks for everything you do, man. I find that your channel is the only “booktube” channel that I can actually relate to and trust with recommendations. Horror is so undervalued and underappreciated, so there’s very few people out there who really get excited about this stuff like I do. Here’s to a productive 2019 for you and your channel!
Wow, what a win to come across your channel!!!! I've been a fan of Jack Ketchum, Richard Laymon, Tim Lebbon, Simon Clark, and a host of other horror authors for years. You are speaking my language kind sir!!!! Subscribing now and anxiously looking forward to exploring your videos and recommendations. I love your passion in describing these books. Will definitely be seeking out several of these titles. Cheers!!!
Love the video! I really need to read What's Wrong With Valerie! The Breeze Horror was one of my favorite books this year as well! Witch Hunt by Devin O'Branagan was awesome as well! Happy new year, hope it's a great one!
Hey man, awesome channel! I know you more than likely have, but have you read much of Robert McCammon's work? He is my all time favourite author, bar none. It really sucks that he doesn't get as much recognition as some of the others do, especially when I find him to be - not only the best in the genre (yep King included...) - but one of the greatest living authors, period. I just purchased a pretty pricey signed first edition of Usher's Passing, which I received today! I am hoping to eventually collect all of his first editions, although so far, I only own 2 out of the 16 books I own of his. His stuff is just so hard to find over here in Australia! So glad I came across your channel man! Can't wait to watch more of your videos now that I've discovered this channel. You have amazing taste by the way. Hope all is well!
Glad you found the channel, man! I’ve been collecting McCammon’s original Pocket paperbacks, but I haven’t read any yet. Thinking about starting soon with either Stinger or They Thirst. I just know I’m gonna love him when I finally get to his work.
@@PaperbackMania Oh, awesome! Swan Song and Boy's Life are my personal favorites and take the first and second place in my top 5 of all time 😁. I can't wait to hear what you think man!
So glad I found you this Year! When you said you loved Sharman's "Childmare," and that you liked to collect the originals of the McCammon books, I knew you were the guy to follow. (BTW, I am not afraid to admit that I love "The Night Boat," even if the author disowns it!) And I thought I was the only one still reading Robert W. Walker! Keep up the good work and have a great 2019!
This video made me so happy! Loved every one of your top ten and I am so glad you chose What's Wrong with Valerie for your number 1 read. It was hands down my favorite read too. That, What's Wrong with Tamara and Voice of the Night were my top reads for 2018. Awesome video Leon. I was looking forward to this and you didn't disappoint. Thank you ☺
Glad you enjoyed it! I really need to read the sequel, especially since you said you liked it even more than the first one, if I remember correctly. Here's to a bunch of dope reads in 2019!
That's right I did say that, you have a great memory. The second book takes the disturbing themes from the 1st book and amps it up a notch or 2. I think you'll enjoy it ☺
Just found you today; very enjoyable and I look forward to catching up. You often comment on the cover art, which really helped sell these books. I'd suggest trying to provide the name of cover artists when possible. Some publishers never credit the artists, but by the 80's many did.
Hey Leon! Great list! I've got a few of those! They don't publish the good stuff like they used to! Cheers my friend! (Happy belated BookTube anniversary!)
What's Wrong With Valerie has a sequel -- What's Wrong With Tamara. I haven't read either one yet, but I have admired Fowler's work and think she's very weird and under-rated.
Nice list! Unfortunately, I haven't read any of your top 10, but they are high on my TBR. Here's my top 10 for the year: 1.) _When Darkness Loves Us_, Elizabeth Engstrom 2.) _The Nightrunners_, Joe Lansdale 3.) _Ghoul_, Michael Slade 4.) _Red Dragon_, Thomas Harris 5.) _By Bizarre Hands_, Joe Lansdale 6.) _A Delicate Dependency_, Michael Talbot 7.) _Off Season_, Jack Ketchum 8.) _Voice of the Clown_, Brenda Brown Canary 9.) _Toady_, Mark Morris 10.) _Burnt Offerings_, Robert Marasco
Love that list, man. Hoping to get to a few of those in 2019, especially Ghoul and Voice of the Clown. I have the US version of Toady titled The Horror Club and I've heard amazing things about it. Seems right up my midnight alley.
These books look awesome but I just can't find them in the wild here in UK, cheapest copy of Joyride I can find online is £70!!! The prices of these books is ridiculous if you can even find them
thanks! awesome off beat titles. I wish most of these went to electronic (otherwise I guess I'll try the library)...otherwise Amazon and Ebay have them at much $ (like 59$ plus).
The only book I have ever tried to read by Johnstone was Cat’s Eye. It was such crap that I DNFed it. I will not ever again read anything by this author.

Thanks, man! I'm happy to talk about these books on here since barely anyone else seems to want to lol
thank you so much, nothing against King, there is so much more out there in the underground to enjoy...just getting started

Thanks, man! Yeah you really should check out What's Wrong with Valerie. Haven't heard of Witch Hunt. Happy New Year to you as well.

You've earned yourself a subscriber! These are the horror novels I've been searching for to devour into.
Thanks for subbing!

Thank you! Childmare is a treasure, and Robert W. Walker's my man! Glad you discovered the channel. Thanks for watching.
Laymon is great. I recently ordered and I am waiting for six of his omnibi to collect his full bibliography
Yeah Laymon is something special. A true one of a kind; there will never be another one quite like him.

Excellent original video. Your list will keep me busy for a long time.
You're in for some treats.
Happy New Year! Because of your videos I’ve started collecting lots of vintage horror books and I hope that 2019 will be an awesome year for you.
That's awesome! It's a fun hobby for sure.

Joe Broers That’s a great suggestion, thanks.
Hey Leon! Great list! I've got a few of those! They don't publish the good stuff like they used to! Cheers my friend! (Happy belated BookTube anniversary!)
They sure don’t! Thanks, buddy!
I've actually started shopping for more books thanks to your reviews. Keep up the good work.
Really glad to hear that. Thanks!
I miss those classic covers. i really hate the generic covers you get nowadays.
Great stuff, man. I've greatly enjoyed your video reviews and collection videos this year. Looking forward to more in 2019.
Thanks, Jordan. Happy New Year!
Great video Leon!
Midnight Graffiti Thank you 🙏

You've had such a great year reading-wise and booktube-wise! Hope 2019 is a great one for you too! I'm adding all your recommendations to my TBR :)
Thanks, Alex, same goes for you!

Got a chance to meet Richard Laymon, he will always be at the top of my list
Laymon was truly a one-of-a-kind. Still is.
@@PaperbackMania I wanna do a Laymon spotlight on my channel in the near future
The Book Dweller You definitely should. Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while also
@@PaperbackMania just posted my Richard Laymon video
80s horror covers were the best.
Laymon is one of my top favorites! Best book, IMO, is One Rainy Night.
Katharine Francis That’s one I have yet to read.
@@PaperbackMania it's soooooooo good. It's basically a black rain that turns people crazy. It was the first book I read by him.
Thanks for all the great videos this year and I’m excited to see what 2019 will bring for the channel. Happy new year!!
Thanks, Matthew! Happy New Year.
Awesome list, I gotta hunt some of these down
Another video that is so much fun. Great to see as usual.
Thanks!
Ohhhh ok. I knew it was a Leigh. I just might actually try to get The Feeding now. I burned myself out of Koontz in college lol.
I wish I had Down by the Farm by John Stchur!
It’s a great little creature feature!
These books look awesome but I just can't find them in the wild here in UK, cheapest copy of Joyride I can find online is £70!!! The prices of these books is ridiculous if you can even find them
Going to try some Dean Koontz in 2019, used to read him as a teen.
I'd love to read more Koontz in 2019 also.
Another great video and reading list❤❤❤❤
killer list lots of great stuff for me to track down
Leon, you da man!
Have you done or can you do a video on the top 10 demonic books?
thanks! awesome off beat titles. I wish most of these went to electronic (otherwise I guess I'll try the library)...otherwise Amazon and Ebay have them at much $ (like 59$ plus).
Isn’t Leigh Clark one of Koontz’s early pseudonyms. Oh and I loved The Sucking Pit
Leigh Nichols was one of Koontz’s pseudonyms.
The only book I have ever tried to read by Johnstone was Cat’s Eye. It was such crap that I DNFed it. I will not ever again read anything by this author.
I could see why. It’s hard to justify the time spent on reading such ineptitude.
Dont slerp ya drink . Thanks 😊
I love your vids but I think I'd throw up if I actually read those books due to the gory and disturbing scenes.
white5mage Thanks for watching!
Would you review my novel? It's a unique super-genre.
So I guess Ramsey Campbell is too tame for your taste.
I love Ramsey Campbell; I just didn't read any books of his in 2018. Definitely plan to this year.
