    A happy update on the health of my fish, a message from Ted Judy, an update on the REBUILD project, selecting a winner for the monthly giveaway, AND sneak peek clips from my trip to Japan! The full series of videos from my goldfish-related trip to Japan will be coming in the next 1-2 weeks, so stay tuned.
    A huge thank you to those of you who have already donated to the REBUILD fundraiser, and also thank you to Custom Aquariums for stepping up and lending support for this project as well! For anyone that donates or has already donated more than $100 to my fundraising campaign, Custom Aquariums will match that dollar amount in a discount for YOU on a custom aquarium from their company (up to a maximum of $500 discount). To claim your discount code after you have donated to my funding campaign, contact Ted Judy at ted.judy@customaquariums.com. Solid Gold Aquatics I want to get goldfish but I have two more question I have not learned
      1. What is the tank size they need?
      2. What is a good food

      A good tank size to start with for one fish would be 20 gallons. Omega One is a pretty good type of food for them, it comes in lots of sizes and sinks to the bottom of your tank witch is preferable in fish food because it helps prevent floating problems. Jenny also has lot's of videos if you want more in depth explanations.

      you need at least 30g for one goldfish and then another 10g for each additional fish. 20g is too small.

      @ThatsBizarre938 7 лет назад +7

      Awesome idea but there is a lot of people who have donated so far. And we can expect that amount to quintuple. So that would have to be a very large wood piece with more than a hundred names on it which would be very expensive. She could still incorporate donators into the fish room in some way. Perhaps name some fish after the top donors, or make it a wallpaper. I would love to see what she might come up with.

      Maybe Jennie could have a long list of names written on a scroll instead once she reaches the 25,000 needed to upgrade her giant fish room. Jennie is doing a great job informing people on a global scale to help us all learn more about gold fish care, what to look out for if these fish do get sick and the best combination of medications to use in this type of situation to get all fish back to full health as fast as possible with minimal stress. Thank you Jennie for creating informative videos on gold fish care and keep up the great work on your videos.

    One thing that you could do to accelerate the cycling of the tank is to get some of the better bottled bacteria. There are a few decent brands that work for different things, and it helped to heavily decrease the time for a few tanks.

    Jenny, just saw someone say on fb that they once lost their whole fishroom due to the air pump being polluted by a neighbor's pesticide sprays. Any chance that may have been what your fish were exposed to on a lesser level? If so I'm sure your quick transfer to a big fresh tank is what saved them! It may also be why they were showing parasite signs (listless, dropsy, etc) and yet you never saw any organisms

    Jenny - you say that you are going to move your fish outside but it will be uncycled because you will be starting from scratch. Is there any reason why you cannot set up a filter today on your existing tank so that when you make the move you can take the now cycled filter and all of the water the fish are currently in, just move the entire set up to your outside pond?

I have a sponge filter meant for a 125 gallon tank, and im getting a 50 gallon stock tank.I'm planning on getting two baby fish and growing them out in the tub. I am going to add lots of plants. About how often and how much(%) should i water change? im thinking about 50-60% while they are young?

    I just want to say, I've been lurking for awhile. I have tropical tanks of mainly tetras and livebearers, but I love your content. I recently went through a nightmare in one of my tanks a month or so ago with a bacterial infection that took two of my favorite mollies and a few more. Treating one tank was a nightmare. I can't imagine having to do all of my fish.
    I was lucky. Even though I have another tank in that room, it didn't spread. And I do have established tanks elsewhere in my house so once I got everything under control, I was able to reintroduce cycled media pretty quickly. Do you know anyone that can help you get the cycle jumpstarted now that you're starting from square one?
    And way to go Ted.

    Hey, I just found your channel yesterday. I've always been more interested in making a natural or pond system in a tank than making them artistic (not that they are mutually exclusive) and set up a 15-gallon tank this year. I recently added three small comet goldfish to the tank that I established with pond stuff and live plants, and that has been running for a few months and was wondering if you would be willing to share your input or recommendations.

    • @justynerud2784
      @justynerud2784 6 лет назад

      PhotonChief sorry that this was posted 6 months ago, but I guess you could still see this. Comets are pond fish. 15 gallons for 3 will stunt their growth and reduce their quality of life. I would suggest getting them a pond. Also, do some research on other options. There are very big tanks, but whatever is best for you. If you can't move them I would suggest giving them to someone with a pond. Best of luck to you!

    I was glad to kick a few bucks your way. Everyone I know who needs to move their fish, I send them links to your videos on the topic. In fact, I just had to take in four of my friend's goldfish b/c she's having problems with her tap water and it was your advice that got them all down here safely and will get them back home in A-1 condition.

    Hey Jenny, I know common and comment goldfish aren't very pretty, but I think when you rebuild your fish room you should try just a standard comment goldfish .they get huge and have a lot of personality for the 20 cents they are sold for.

    And For Your Goldfish the Fish need Powerhead filter cause they need Flowing Water or buy wave Maker cause if you using sponge filter there's no wave on your aquarium

    • @flashofpink
      @flashofpink  7 лет назад +1

      Big fancy goldfish like the ones I keep actually have a hard time swimming because of their big bodies and huge fins, so powerheads and a lot of flow in the tank is not good for them. There are other types of filters that work well too (canister filters, some HOB filters), but sponge filters are perfectly adequate and are used in almost every fish room where there are many tanks that need to be filtered. They're very efficient.

      Badas Dark not fancy goldfish. They aren't strong swimmers. Comets and wotanai and longer body goldfish sure but fancy goldfish dont really need that. So her sponge filters are fine. Even So her fish are healthy and beautiful. I wouldn't ask her to do a thing differently.

    when I worked for PetSmart every customer I had wanted goldfish for to small a tank I always told them your looking 30-50 per goldfish. got the question of what the hell I'm thinking showed them some of your fish and said if that fish was in a 20 gallon with several others the fish would die in days. I always told them ponds with waterfall's even for koi. yes I had someone who wanted 12 koi for a 5 gallon tank. hope all the remaining goldfish fight back from the unknown ailment and can breed successfully again. as for the water heater ask Joey about the stingray breeder that used the air to heat water when he went to that place or even if you get a water boiler not steam boiler you can add radiant floor heating.
