  • HERE WE GO! MOZA has just released a €650/$589 wheelbase and a €309/$279 GT wheel rim. Fanatec and Simagic are SWEATING right now. MOZA is not messing around! A wheelbase that's better than the Simagic Alpha Mini?! And a steering wheel that's better value than the Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2?! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the best DD combo in sim racing right now.
    To make life even easier for you, I compare the R12 to the R5 and R9, as well as comparing the KS to the GS, FSR, CS, RS and even the ES! Months of work in only 16 minutes! A like/comment would be appreciated!

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Awesome! As soon as some US partners have it on their store I’m going to order an R12 + RS! For me, a big selling point is the software. I know my dad won’t want to deal with any software that’s too tedious or unintuitive. The iOS integration is also a big appeal, since that’s a big barrier reduction to just take out his phone and tinker.
      Plus, the Acelith Simracing GT rim for the RS (Forged F30 RS mod) is cheap and seems like a great hold over before buying a GS (or future revision) later!
      I’m also a fan of how easy Moza makes enabling and disabling their hands-off protection. I think that’ll be particularly valuable as he learns to use the rig!
      Edit: It’s too bad you don’t do more cockpit reviews! No one has a good review on the TrakRacer R6 in its current edition up.
      But I imagine that routine cockpit reviews would stress storage space.

    I moved from a logitech DFP to an R9 a few months ago, and have only been running it at 60-70%. I'm not sure I'll need to use 100% of the R9, especially for longer races, but an R12 would cover everything. I'm also glad to see a GT rim on the same level as the CS wheel I use.
    I've been really happy with my moza setup, and their community engagement on their discord feels like they want to make products that we want to buy (common sense, right?)

    Great video! Moza is making some nice strides in hardware and software. I'm currently running a Simagic wheelbase with Fanatec pedals,shifter and handbrake. The ease of updating firmware for devices that Moza is displaying has me reconsidering my upgrade path. Seems Fanatec is being overtaken by all these other brands hitting the market. Great to have more options in hardware. Simagic's software has given me headaches too many times. Same with Fanatec's software/firmware updates. Both need massive improvement. Moza is coming with some bang for buck hardware! Other manufacturers will need to keep up. Fanatec...👀 Thanks again for the review LD!

    I have both the R12, FSR, KS and RS V2. And i think I've reached the point where i have everything covered from drifting to hardcore prototype racing in iracing. The R12 is an incredible wheelbase, it absolutely hits the sweet spot, i always use it on 100% ffb intensity in the pithouse software but i do dial down the settings in the game, this thing is actually a workout! Especially in tracks where you are turning the wheel a lot like Daytona. You absolutely don't need more than the R12, unless you are worried about ffb clipping which does happen in the R12, but its quite rare, as matter of fact i actually don't remember when was the last time it clipped, it also clips just a tiny bit, to the point where its not a problem in the slightest. It does get pretty toasty but you really have to push it hard and play in a poorly air conditioned room to get it to become quite warm to the touch, but even if you do all of that, it will never overheat. So far i am extremely happy with this purchase, more so than the R9 which wasn't great at 100% because it lost ffb due to overheating. As for the KS it is a thing of beauty, the rubber grips feel fantastic and all of those buttons and dials feel incredible, i don't see any compromises made in the KS. But its not my main wheel, i mostly use the FSR because it is eye-pleasing, even though i am mainly a VR user i do tend to pick it up and admire it. I know some people will think its crazy that i bought a wheel with a screen just to play in VR, but i need an 280mm wheel which is perfect for me. Anyways Moza is killing it and i don't think they are done impressing us, I'm sure fanatec are salty rn because of the progress that Moza made jn less than two years

IMO mozas wheels all look cheap and ugly. once you are buying their best pedals and the r12 youre spending a good amount of money. so simagic is really in the same budget give or take. the simagic ecosystem is probably the best out there. the wheel selection is amazing. the quality and craftsmanship is amazing. i went with alpha 15nm wheelbase, fx pro wheel, p2000 pedals with haptics, q1 sequential shifter, ds8x shifter and hydro handbrake. top notch stuff

    My alpha mini has shat itself from the internals a while ago (after the base has been heat soaked it produces a very loud audible click every 5mm you turn the wheel. The noise is pretty much the exact same as what you hear when you spin those lucky draw wheels), I'll drive this alpha mini until it completely stops working but my next upgrade will probably be from Moza. From a value standpoint they're far above simagic, the GT4 wheel I got from simagic is $699 (without a hand clutch) and the ks wheel from Moza is just $400 for me, and it has just as many buttons (if not more with the hand clutches). Also simagic's 1 year warranty and the push to have the distributor take care of your problems is pretty big con.

The La Prima bundle suddenly doesn't look as cheap anymore, €309 for this wheel looks crazy. The only thing I don't like about this review is that you are putting the Moza Hardware directly on concrete while talking about how well packaged they are when shipping. I understand you have a lot of products here and you may be dealing with limited space. The natural lighting of the sun definitely helps highlight the details of the products. But maybe there's another way you could have displayed them? Otherwise, great review with good detail and fantastic punctuation.

      Hahaha it’s part of what makes this channel different. People recognise my content for it and it’s not going to change any time soon. And I don’t scratch it along the concrete. It does get minor marking but nothing major. This hardware is just tools for the job. I usually give it to my community :) I never resell it. It cannot have value to me directly as it might be seen to impact the review.
      Thanks for the kind words.

    Asetek La Prima - 12NM, noticeably better FFB, only *750eur, bundled with 300eur wheel (1050eur) + option to jump to 16NM via upgrade (it is not about NM, but about speed aka NM/sec aka slew rate).

      Don’t worry too much. It’s SUPER close :) the alpha mini is awesome too. The gt4 rim is one of my favourites. Lovely buttons, great 7 way hats. The new moza KS is unreal value. It’s very good value. But it’s not at the quality of the GT4 rim.

    Simagic napping? The R12 is slightly better than the R9. But it's an unecessary middleground, when you can go for the R16 and actually make a bit more difference. Or R21 if you really want a workout.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  Год назад

      for many 12Nm is the sweetspot. And the main reason simagic are caught napping is because their software is nowhere near as good as Moza's

    Higher end brands are seriously in trouble.

    • @JaredPaul01
      @JaredPaul01 Год назад +2

      Not necessarily, high end wheels still of amazing quality/customization/durability and power overhead. This brings along the thought process of buy once and never bother with upgrades. But for most people, low end is a good option. Moza r12 has a good amount of power and perfect for many but its a new product so we don't know how long it will last with durability. For many 12nm is still a bit to low, personally after using a simagic mini for a few years and 10nm is fine but I would like more around 20nm. Having overhead for clipping has been a big issue for me because I like to run high force feedback. I'm not knocking Moza but its early days and it looks like they have been moving in a good direction.
