I love this episode! It is SO sweet. "You SHOULD be afraid to die! I know where you are going and it's BORING!" - one of the BEST lines of the series IMO.
Yeah one of my favorite episodes of the show. It sticks with you. The whole show is really good and all the characters grow, but there are some really good highlights and this is one of them.
Although I have to say, I don't agree with you one the symmetrical "Good Evil" thing. You don't need to know darkness to know light. You don't need to experience the darkest horrors of existence in order to appreciate the most graceful ones. Just like you don't need to get cancer to appreciate health, or be blind to be thankful you can see. Just a tiny thought is all. Appreciate your reaction vid.
@@LuisManuelLealDias I strongly agree with this. While I think challenge in various degrees of moderation is healthy, you don't need to suffer to appreciate joy. The horrors in life usually leave scars that can make experiencing the heights of joy after harder, or even impossible - you just have to think about everyone who's gone due to trauma to realise that.
Bit of behind the scenes: Almost unbelievably, FOX wanted to cut the Frank & Lucifer at the piano scene because it didn't move the plot forward in the traditional detective show sense. (More Action!) The show runners and Tom fought for it to remain, having a different vision of the show's arc.
Lauren seriously has the most evocative face ever. 7:42 Desolate and sympathetic to Frank's loss of his daughter. 8:30 Radiant, infectious smile watching Lucifer & Frank being adorable at the piano.
one of the best episodes of the whole series and I love how you GET it. Frank's death is tragic and Lucifers monologue on the balcony is superbly acted.
This episode has some of the best acting in the whole series! Tom Ellis does such an amazing job of portraying all the pain and suffering that Lucifer is going through.
I've been waiting for this episode. There are so many good points. You pretty much quoting Linda was awesome. But she was right, as were you. You really see the character change here. The monologue Lucifer gives is amazing, and it is how so many people have felt at one point or another. Seeing how the priest was able to change and also accept Lucifer for who he really was. He wasn't like the priest in the first episode who was clearly scared.
The priest in the first episode confronts Lucifer (a metaphor for the evils of humanity) in a superficial and prejudiced way. Which makes it impossible for him to face him, understand him and see the man that he is. It's not easy to see the person behind their flaws. Usually we prefer to make a clear judgment and leave it to its fate. In this, Father Frank embodies what should be the true mission of a priest (and also of other ordinary mortals): to welcome and try to understand everyone, even those who apparently seem the most distant from us. Beautiful character Father Frank, years later he remains one of my favourites.
A great episode that showcases Tom Ellis' range. He shows all the time the immature, self-absorbed, hedonist character, then Lucifer finds himself deeply in introspection and questioning god's plan like any mortal, but with a personal hurt, because he knows god. A goose-bump inducing scene.
If you’ll look back, in the episode where Amenadiel rescues Malcolm from hell, earlier in the episode Amenadiel laughs and say something to the effect that now that Lucifer is mortal, all he has to do is wait for some dirtbag to kill him. It was only upon rewatching the series that I picked up on that connection.
Lucifer finally makes a friend and is taken from him. Tom Ellis perfectly channeled the character's desperation, the devastation not only from the loss but from the injustice of his death. It is clear that Father Frank knew that Luifer was the devil, the question is why God put him in Lucifer's path.
You are getting really good at "reading" this show, like how you nailed the bad guy soon as you heard him speak, or said things that were immediately mirrored in the show. If Lucifer were still ongoing you could be in the writing team. 😂
J aime votre analyse , après avoir vu 4 fois la série en entier , votre réaction me permet d approfondir mon avis sur cette série, le jeu d acteur de Tom ELLIS est parfait, aussi bien dans l humour que dans le dramatique , MERCI
This is my favorite episode, among the more "dramatic" ones. Dialogues and topics are treated at their best. 👍 Tom Ellis very good at conveying the emotions of his character.👏 The investigative/police side is always lacking, but this, unfortunately, is a constant throughout the entire series.
For non believers the Answer why bad things happen to good people is pretty logical yet not very comforting: Bad things can happen to everyone because there is no one to prevent that. The Answers given by believers always felt comforting but not very logical. Like that God may take good people early as he misses them. Yea but that sounds very selfish and doesn't explain why they often have to suffer long horrible agony.
also, if He gives a shit about us, he'd leave those 'good people' down here to make things easier for the rest of us. rather than trying so hard to make earth the waiting room for hell. (can you tell religion makes no sense to me? )
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. Lucifer having such a fun time with Father Frank.

You are, by far, the most emotionally intelligent reactor I've ever watched. Your commentary is the best. Please more Lucifer :)
I agree on all points :)

3:21 Chloe:
Lucifer: "Detective!"

On the loneliness, Cordelia Chase said it first: "I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone. It’s not like any of them really know me."
I feel like the stewardess interuptess episode in season 2 kinda emphasises that, meaningless one night stands
We need more Lucifer reactions!

I think that God put father Frank in Lucifer path, so when he died, Lucifer could find a friend, a companionship in Chloe, leading to their future
This is absolutely one of the best episodes! I tear up EVERY time I watch it.
tom ellis did an amazing job as lucifer
IMO, this is ONE of the BEST episodes of the entire series. But now we have so much to watch to see if I am correct. LOL. Great Post, Sofie.

I love this episode and I love your reaction to it! So many emotions, and great responses to them.
THE Devil with a heart of Gold, man season 1 was awesome
Loved your post reaction discussion. Looking forward to more!
I've been waiting for this episode. It's brilliant.
los dialogos de este capitulo son increibles! gracias por la reaccion.
This is one of the best episodes of the entire series.
I love how lighthearted this show is, its not what you would expect from a show about the devil
ah this is my favorite episode of season 1 by far
My favorite episode ❤ thank you 😊
it might not be the best episode, but it's certainly one of the special ones!

Tom Ellis very good at conveying the emotions of his character.👏
The investigative/police side is always lacking, but this, unfortunately, is a constant throughout the entire series.
I don't know if you ever watched Castle but if not you should do.
The main Characters also have such a lovely chemistry like Lucifer and Cloe.
I have to say,Lucifer tv series have the Best ending I can think of in the last 10 to 15 years?..

13:38 amenadiel wants lucy back in hell. this surprises you? it has been his goal since he showed up in this show! wow.
💜
Sofie where are you from?
Are you sure you didn't write some of the script? Smart thinking . . .
