Protests against Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s new transgender policy in Calgary, Edmonton

- In Alberta, there were Saturday rallies in the province's two largest cities to oppose Premier Danielle Smith's sweeping new LGBTQ2S+ regulations on gender identity.
This comes after Smith published a video on social media on Wednesday, saying the government will require parental notification and consent if a child 15 years or younger changes their name and pronouns at school.
Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notley joined protesters in Edmonton, rallying simultaneously with another demonstration in Calgary. All of them expressed anger over Smith's newly announced plan to restrict important procedures for transgender youth.

Waiting until a child becomes an actual adult capable of making adult life choices, before they're allowed, is not hatred. We don't let them vote, smoke drink, drive and lots of things that have far less impact on their lives before they're adults.
This is the right thing to do. And it's long overdue...

Second, If it's an issue, they can wait until they're 18 and live on their own, like everything else adults can do..

The problem is now a days a majority of kids change pronouns, identify as different things due to peer pressure and think it’s cool and a trend, they go back to their normal “ identity “ and pronouns once they leave high school or become mature, imagine if a 15 year old changes her/his gender thinking it’s cool and trend , but later regrets it what should they do????? If you want to know whats going on with your child, you should foster a trusting enough relationship with child that they tell you themselves. Allowing other adults to have a bound of trust and support like teachers is helpful for the child and can allow them to come to people other then their parents when they are having issues, especially when the parents do not have the trust of the child. Parents don't own their children and its not a teachers job or duty report on everything the child does. Its damaging to out children to others when they are not ready and that includes their parents, so this is actually looking out for the child's best interests. Again if you want to know what your child is up too or is thinking, make sure they turst you enough to tell you.

If a child is acting out in class or school the teacher/principal sure as hell reports it to parents, your not their friend, counselor or parent - your a teacher so teach.
Teach the curriculum your trained to teach, the class doesn't need to know your pronouns, doesn't need to know your sexual preference or your ideologues. Just do the job you were hired and paid to do and leave parenting to parents. And if you can't do your job then find another line of work, parents are barely trusting teachers as it is now.

A name change? A name change is a completely reversible procedure; unless the teacher outs a trans youth to their transphobic parents.

I work with vulnerable sector trans youth in an Alberta city of which there are hundreds at the moment and likely a lot more if these laws get passed unopposed and unchallenged.
When the parents of these children kick them out to the street, they are harmed - greatly. Some are as young as 10 and 11 and presently number in the hundreds.
Question: What exactly would you like to see happen to these trans kids? What would you like done with them?

Please be aware that every single Western Medical Authority (psychiatric since 2013 with the DSM-5) has determined that being transgender is a Natural Human Condition.

Yes, I can certainly empathize with a child that’s going through something like not feeling like they belong in the body they were born in…that must be heartbreaking, but this is a topic that deserves a solid debate from all sides, not just the progressives. It must include a solid understanding from those that have detransitioned and why as well as those that had the hormone treatment and later have huge, sometimes suicidal, regrets. Surgery and hormone therapy, which is forever life changing, shouldn’t be done on children who are going through gender disphoria, because there can be many reasons for that and those reasons can change in time, sometimes children gravitate to trends of the times or group identities for a limited period.
Progressive science is not science but rather a narrow viewed perspective. We as a society have an obligation to protect children, a) from themselves and b) from the progressive state.

Just check the statistics on self harm and self destruction of trans youth. Hormones are powerful things. If you mess them up during puberty no less you get everything starting from mild mood swings to severe depression. Another thing is when they tell you that you are not sure about your gender, the pure confusion of not knowing who you are is enough to make anyone insane.
Being a teen is a hormonal mess as is, why teens cause trouble, give attitude, get depressed etc. Now let's add drugs designed to alter your hormones, that's not going to exacerbate everything in the slightest. 🤦🏼 If only they'd realize the death don't come from assaults and bullying if they do its rare. It comes from being confused about everything and instead of being left/help to figure it out you are pushed in one direction and not allowed to go back cause thy keep pushing you that direction and then on top of that taking mood/hormone altering drugs, I think I'd off myself too if my brain was that twisted around.

When the parents of these children kick them out to the street, they are harmed - greatly. Some are as young as 10 and 11 and presently number in the hundreds.
Question: What exactly would you like to see happen to these trans kids? What would you like done with them?

As far as I know. When your born, your either girl or a boy. Once you get older that’s your choice just don’t push it on our children…
So when you are born your born with a sexed body and a sexed brain. Most of the time the sex of the brain and the sex of the body match. Sometimes the brian develops one sex and the body develops as the other sex. So the brian identities as one gender(social sex) and the body is the other sex. Since we cant change the brain, the only way to fix the mismatch is to fix the body. So some people are literally born trans and since toddler become awear of both sex and gender they will not feel comfortable in their own bodies, this is made worse then they reach puberty. So when a child exhibit a consistent desire to be the opposite gender we let the socially transtion and when they are old enough start tharapy(8 or older). Once they reach tanner stage two of puberty, if their gender dysphoria is their then they start puberty blocker to prevent the permanent changes of puberty. At 15-16 the now teen must make a choice to stop the puberty blocker or start taking hormones which will then start the puberty of their choice. Surgery in canada is an option only for 18 yearolds or older. Hope this information helped you understand trans people and their treatment a little bit more.

THAT is something that is done to so many kids that is actually mutilation of genitals. 99% of those surgeries happen AFTER They are adults... and the ones that don't are often done on CIS people for things like breast reduction surgeries. There are “thousands” of children in Alberta or Canada who want to be the opposite sex? What has gone wrong in this country? Are you not aware that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of young people, in places like Britain, Sweden, Denmark, the US who have de-transitioned and deeply regret what was done to them? They are now wanting to sue the doctors who led them down this path!!!
Well you got one thing right: only about 1% of the people who transition actually regret it. This is a lower regret rate than other common surgeries like hip replacement.
I always wonder if their is such an increase in all of this gender confusion ,perhaps we should be looking at environmental ,chemical causes for it and not pandering to the sickness. Perhaps it has to do with elevated levels in estrogen everywhere, But no they don't want to look at causes ,they want to sterilize. The "Elite" want most of us dead ,so there is more for them.

Offering mental health support to individuals who believe they are born in the wrong body is what we should do and exactly what the premier is doing.
The cases that have been happening in other countries (Britain, Sweden, Denmark, US) have failed to offer any other solution except transitioning. In many of the stories the kids were not given any kind of counselling to determine what else might be going on. They were fast tracked into transition. It’s because the medical community adopted the “affirming care” doctrine: if the kid says he/she is the opposite sex, that was accepted as the way to go! Kids need protection from “affirmative care”.

In fact 18 would be more in line with drinking, tattoos, etc but this is supposed to strike a balance so 10 year olds etc. are not groomed into these decisions, but at 16 more options are available.
