The man who made lyrics and composed this song was then about 18. Talented guy.

@@yanick7883 Okay 16, thanks.
This song is absolutely beautiful. I would call this finnish stairway to heaven
I am finnish and i was always more obsessed with music from other countries, but now i've found the beauty in finnish music. I love the melodies and lyrics of our music
Same.
I think it was Finnish. Finland has made a lot of very good music. Usually slightly melancholic. I am from Sweden, and as a kid, before I learnt English, this is how I appreciated British and American music. The meaning of the text is not disturbing - you can focus entirely on the music!
The singer happened to pass away few days ago. Thank you for sharing this amazing reaction.
Feel the emotion in his voice. Very deep. Love the violin. -Patricia 😎👍🎶🎧🔥
Amazing lyrics❤️ The writer of this song, who also sings it himself, Jussi Hakulinen, died today August 9th 2022🌹😢
As a Finn, this a must song to know. I learned to sing it back in high school choir. Love it always. So happy you decided to react to this masterpiece as is not well known.
A writer of this song, Jussi, was 16 years old when he wrote this, and if I recall right, this song was about his aunt or to her. Sadly Jussi passed away, year ago.
Singer, composer and lyrics by Jussi Hakulinen. He make this song 1984 when he’s 80y aunt husbend died. He was only 18y old then…
Thank you for the reaction! This is one of my favourite songs, it is very deep and beautiful, and causes heartache every time I hear it.
For years I've always wondered, would I like the song as much if I didn't understand the lyrics. I wondered whether the music was powerful enough on it's own, because it has very powerful lyrics as well. This is the first reaction on this song I've seen in like ten years! As a musician I've been trying to prove to myself (for years now) the universality of music. That you can transfer emotions through music, no matter where in the world the music is heard.
You should check out the lyrics as well. Then listen to the song again, you'll get a completely new experience. It's called a 'Swan song' - for a reason - there is a legend that a swan song is a hauntingly beautiful song that the bird sings right before its death.
Like @Pete K mentioned earlier, the song writer is a talented guy. He really nailed both the music and the lyrics. Aand how well they sit together. How you found this finnish song is beyond me, but I'm glad you did.
Sorry for a long comment, thanks again for the reaction.
Kiitos tämän kappaleen arvioinnista! Thank you for your rating of this song!
Best by Yö....so versatile and rich...deep lyrics.
This song is deep and most of the times it brings tears to my eyes. Writer of this son died last yer and I grew up with this band back in -80's. Shit, most, if not all Finns know this song and I believe many of them think its the best song of that time. Deeply touching. RIP Jussi Hakulinen.
This was such a great video! Thank you a lot!😎👍
Beautiful Melody ! 😊
I hear the beauty in it.
This song is been titled the Best finnish song and also rest In peace juha he is the man Who made this song rip legend❤
Those Violins 🎻 were awesome 👌
Does he say it? ;)
@@elysehfm8797 Who Teez ? He wasn't sure if they were violins and im not sure as ( no expert myself) but sounded like violins? 😊👌
I'm trying to find some more beautiful and interesting songs singed in finnish language. Yes that is a violin on the song.
@@arttuluomanen171 Yes this was a very Beautiful song! 😊 Enjoyed it very much .
@@CA5124, I love when Teez asks "Are those violins???" Like it's the craziest thing on the planet, lol. So cute. I'm pushing for a little Camper Van Beethoven. Violin heavy.
Literally one of my favourite songs
Great reaction! Greetings from Finland
R.I.P. Jussi Hakulinen
This song is a sad song about the songwriters aunt and his dead husband. The songwriter Jussi Hakulinen was just 20 years old when writing this.
This song is one of my favorites from my youth, performed by the singer of the band Yö, Jussi Hakulinen. The swan''s song tells about life and death, and love the swan is monogamous, therefore its white color represents purity and loyalty. If its spouse dies, it will never take another spouse. I myself lost my father exhausted by illness, although years have passed since my father''s death, this song still touches me and brings back many memories of my beloved father. I remember when we picked up my father from the hospital to wait for the burial, there were two swans in the river near the hospital, i told my mother that there will come a day when you can be together like those swans in that river because we have the hope of seeing you again through the merit of Christ 🦢🦢🦢✝️✝️✝️
Crying listening to this
It's a little shocking to see a song sung in Finnish here. :) This Joutsenlaulu is an early song by Yö, released in 1984. It was written by the first singer Jussi Hakulinen, who then went on a solo career. The later singer Olli Lindholm died in 2019, and they disbanded then. I like Jussi Hakulinen's music more than later Yö but that's all in Finnish so some enjoyment may be lost in the process...
The translation, as far as I could tell, was rather stilted at points. Not that I'd be willing to translate it better.
I was able to find some Finnish pop/rock songs with passable English translations:
"Ikuinen virta" (eternal stream) by Indica (2004) ruclips.net/video/51ymqwQ2lBY/видео.html
"Viivakoodit" (barcodes) by Apulanta (2001) ruclips.net/video/Lk2DiUgRWIw/видео.html
It's sometimes awkward to translate a song from finnish to english:D
This song tells a lot about the longing of being young, when you experienced love and life for the first time and also when your children have flown from the nest and apparently the partner of the main char of this song is either left or dead and so there is only memories left. Memories and pain of realising you will get older and eventually die alone
The metatext in this is song...well in Finland we have long winters and short summers so that makes us often rather gloomy and melancholic like this and many other finnish songs are...
This hit different😲
Rip Jussi Hakulinen. I'm so lucky I got to meet him
Should play a lot more Worldwide music requests...Pan pipes always a winner if can be fitted in(& nicely added)...like the cowbell or triangle ;) or tambourine...never fails to please
Beautiful 🇫🇮👈👌
Thx for not using advantage of finnish silent but delicate culture and history for your own good
❣ I wish we had more people like you!
🔥
The man who made this song died today, August 9, 2022. R.I.P Jussi
The singer's name is Jussi hakullinen And he died not long ago
Joutsenlaulu 🇫🇮
Sometimes, you just gotta feel the music and forget the lyrics. Nice choice!
True! I enjoyed this one 👌 the fact that I didn't understand the lyrics was irrelevant 😊
@@CA5124, Cocteau Twins. Irrelevant lyrics for the win!
@@elysehfm8797 Yes their sound is so Ethereal you don't need lyrics! 🌌
@@CA5124, I've read a little bit about her songwriting techniques online. So interesting.
@@elysehfm8797 How did you discover them ?
❤❤
i can see, you did not need to read the translation on the vocals, thats how amazing song it is. greetings!
RIP Jussi Hakulinen.he is dead 9.8 2022
Ha ha ha🤣 Jussi Hakulinen wrote and composed this song. He made it very hard for the band with flutes and strings but impossible for the singer Olli Lindholm. So it is only performed by Jussi Hakulinen. He is singing here, and after leaving the band, he did not allow them to perform this song.
Man try zen cafe - ihminen or hanoi rocks - million miles away. Both finnish bands as well
That song tells about dead
Typical melancholic finnish song
❤❤❤Ihana
This song is just so unbeliavably sad. You can hear the pain in the whole composion and especially on Lindholms raspy vocals.
Hakulinen sings not Lindholm
The lyrics are really poetic, they do not translate very well in to English..
ruclips.net/video/7M1jdJtOntI/видео.htmlsi=KXiYEfh0JU1M9xeS next Katri Helena - Anna mulle tähtitaivas😊
That translation sucks balls. Shame.
Yes i was about to comment it,i hope someone could make a more creative translation with arrangement that fits the music and melody.
