i cant be the only one coming back to this video all these years later… god these 2 videos were so good. early days of minecraft, everything was so new. the world seemed so massive. i havent even played minecraft in probably 6 years now. i wish i would have appreciated these times more

It makes sense since they were focused on shorter Let's Plays back then, and when they finally DID find the End correctly, it took them a million parts just to get enough Ender Eyes, and they still did most of that off screen lol
Gavin obviously planned ahead of time, he has a completed map and if you look at the clip where he digs up to "accidentally" find it, right before he does this he had already dug down only to build his way back up using cobble stone at 14:33 , he was clearly looking for the correct coordinates. They probably just chose a seed where the stronghold was already discovered and went from there.
