Saw this tour at Pine Knob, just outside of Detroit in August of '84. We were well back on the hill, but the Clair Brothers' sound system and Squire's bass had that hill literally shaking!!! A truly amazing night!!!
@@teejaymiller4983 Great way to start of your concert-going career, for sure!!! I was working up at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and drove down with a bunch of friends. Great road trip (other than the flat tire) and incredible concert! My first YES concert was the Tormado tour in June of '79, if I remember correctly. Then saw the Drama tour in '80, then the 90125 concert in Pine Knob. That Pine Knob concert was tighter and stronger than the first two YES shows I saw.
I'd wanted Yes to be my first concert. Instead, my sister Kelley & I saw the Who in Raleigh, NC, in the mid 80's I believe. I was around 16, which would make her around 14. I'd thought they were performing with Yes, why I bought the tickets.

Saw them on this tour at Big Mac in Denver Co. Took my friends to thier first ever concert. It was a mind blower. The laser light show was off the hook. And the YES sound was so just so YES!! One of the best concerts I've seen and I've been to too many to count. I miss concerts like this..
This is an interesting mix of the tour. You've got Alpine Valley in there, I see, but not the Poplar Creek from the day after. We had a carload trying to get to that show, but traffic wouldn't allow it. I've never seen so many people trying to get to a show. We heard the music starting from out on the road, but we were stuck. Nothing to do but find something else to do that night.
The lazers starting during Hearts. Smoke thick as a blanket, everyone in the place lit up. It was like a cue. Turning point of the show. My first YES concert. MSG spring 84. Still in my top 2. It was twice as loud as any other YES show. It was Rush loud. The bass was wall shakingingly monstrous. My jacket was vibrating off my body, almost went into fibrilation. lol. It was the night where YES was determined to prove the critics wrong. They played their asses off that night in New York City. Cherished memory.
I saw this tour at The Aud in Buffalo. A dream come true. When I'd first heard of the band from a friend, they'd broken up after Geoff Downs and Trevor Horn left. Never thought I'd have the chance!
I was at the Garden to see them on this tour. LOVED the show. Was the Holmdel facility already expanded by that time? If not, seeing this show at the Garden State Arts Center (as I knew it growing up) must have been incredible.
Your memory is way better than my mine. This was also my first live YES concert experience. Mine was seeing the band in Daly City. Sat in the nosebleed section of the Cow Palace. For the majority of it, which sucked but then towards the end decided to head towards the stage and nearly got trampled to death. Not exactly a cherished memory. Awaken is awful, nothing but a butchered snippet with a synth sound enough to remind one why 80's pop was so bad.
Saw this tour at The Spectrum in Philadelphia (September 1984). My first concert ever! Now I am 53 and saw Jon Anderson this past August and had the pleasure of meeting him! What a thrill!
I was first YES concert ever in NICE - FRANCE.1984. .I m from Buenos Aires Argentina.. Great stuff, I went to the Birmingham UK show and can honestly say that it's up there with the very best gigs I've been to, I just love the harmonies between Jon , Trevor and Chris and the musicianship was superb.

I was lucky enough to get to go to their opening show for the 90125 tour. The first show was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Yes is my favorite group of all the great classic rockers. I got to see them in "74. Then again in "84. always a great show.
Listening to this now, remembering Alan’s longevity with the group, and noting the primary difference between YesWest and Classic Yes: Pure Pop vs. Timeless.
Pure Pop? Pure? There's a slight dose of pop here, but it's 1/2 of Owner and Leave It? The rest is very much art rock of it's time, with ballads, rockers, instrumentals that have literally no pure pop at all. The decades should have informed the dorks that this record isn't Madonna or Michael Jackson despite their disappointment that this wasn't Tales or some kind of bloat that killed the band twice before they got to 90125. I prefer the prog too, but not at the expense of recognizing how good this record was/is.
I saw the show in Montreal, I remember the band was very late and the opening act was Looney Tunes projected on a giant screen. And you and I was great
I attended 7 90125 shows including the Holmdel show, and the Brendan Byrne Meadowlands arena show ( New Jersey May 7, 1984 ). I attended Philadelphia 3 ( April + Sept SPECTRUM ), Brendan Byrne Meadowlands, Hartford Civic Center, Nassau,Long Island N.Y. I saw them in London on this tour, my first yes gig. It was great, Alan Whites drum sound and explosive playing made an impression. It was loud and proud, 90125 was great but I still remember the opening bars of And You and I. I wish the quality could do it justice. Its not like Steve Howes yes are going to release this live, lol.
Why anyone would question Yes, is beyond me.......lethargic? really??? Chuck you, Farley! This os one of the greatest prog rock bands that ever existed!
Interesting, you can hear the vocoder on Jon's voice in Hold On (the keyboard playing part of that being done under the stage by Casey Young, who was Tony's keyboard tech).
Did anyone here see this tour at the UC Berkeley Greek Theater? I was there Man. Second Row. One of the most magical experiences of my life at the age of 17.

No, Eddie Jobson was a Yes member for only two weeks (at the time they shot the video clip for "Owner of a Lonely Heart"). When the tour started, Tony Kaye was already back in the fold.
@@TheAmarok87 Absolutely agree with you but, that doesnt look like tony Kaye in the photo even though it was his keyboard set up. His hair looks more like Eddie Jobson of the time. Dunno?? maybe you are right?
Check you're east troy date. .they probably was milwaukee wi. Alpine valley in east Troy is an out door venue ..and as wisconsin aint in a warm weather climate I doubt that a show was played there at that time of the year...considering its Oct 18th today and we have had mid to low 30s for nite time lows with rain patchy frost and some freezing rain....and east troy only has alpine valley ...
Trevo gave yes a hard sound for sure..I first saw yes on this tour in milwaukee wi on this tour..and last saw them in milwaukee wi summerfest..with Steve Howe ..it conflicted me Trevor played the classic yes just awesome but after gettin to Steve Howe preform the old yes material...I like both is conflict comes in..lol
leave it is a demonstration inside 90125 of how they could work at different level, an a cappella power surf rock n roll, like on drama we have into the lines i am a camera, yeah a camera pop metal rock
I imagine they are playing to a multitrack tape with Alan White playing to click. Live drums, bass lead guitar and lead vocals. You can clearly hear massive stacked multitracked voices at different parts. I think the vocal arrangrment in Leave it was just too difficult to reproduce with three voices live. Also some backing guitar appearing on that song. I imagine it comes down to "do we play the song or not?" As the bvs kind of make the whole song.

Why oh WHY did they only play Sweet Dreams once on this tour? Sounds amazing here.
Same with Perpetual Change and Long Distance Runaround during the early dates of the tour.
Our Song is really blueprint for modern day progrock band
It's a shame that Our song did not get much airplay
The intro of 'Our Song' sounds a bit off, but the Hammond solo in Hearts really shreds..

How much of 'Leave it' is on a backing track?
Mr. Wizard sounds like a hell of a lot. i don’t remember where it was, but i know that they did a full a capella version and it was awful
@@joshdrilingas718 Interesting. Did you hear the a capella performance at a live show, and/ or is there footage of it somewhere?
Mr. Wizard it was a recording. i think it was from the rio 85’ show but i’m not sure
@@joshdrilingas718 hmm maybe it's online or perhaps there is a torrent.
i found it! ruclips.net/video/l19XdsZL4Lk/видео.html
Call me naive, but Leave it was really a recording? If so that blows.
leave it is a demonstration inside 90125 of how they could work at different level, an a cappella power surf rock n roll, like on drama we have into the lines i am a camera, yeah a camera pop metal rock
New Jersey, New Jersey, so good they named it twice? LOL @ JA
In other words were not Buenos Aries this time of the year
I don't think this is the complete tour here being only two and a half hours. 😆
10-4. Go make your own video.
@@jedzxor I was just joking about the title of your video. Not criticizing it. Thanks for posting it though.
All pretty good apart from listening to Tony Kaye fuck up the chords on "Awaken"
You aren't listening properly.
Eurrrghh.. the keyboards of Kaye is awful. Sorry, but really is.
Uh, I hate to break it to you but Tony is the best!!!
Tony doesn't have to wear a cape to be great!
Tough playing songs you didn’t help write
