  • This is the first Nomos I've purchased, and it's hard to describe how sharp and well-rounded this release is. But hopefully this video can accurately convey what a special sport watch it is, and what nice attention to detail Nomos Glashutte paid throughout the design and production process.
I bought this from J. Brooks jewelers here in Murray Utah. They are a family owned brick and mortar AD - a great place to pick up Nomos, Bell & Ross, Carl Bucherer, and Oris. Ask for Brooks-

I love the idea of that bracelet but.... poor choice for that entirely polished case in my opinion. Kinda looks like an elastic band that was found in a drawer that was stuck on the watch lol.
That said.... it looks INCREDIBLY comfortable. The tolerances are so tight too, it looks silken against the wrist.

Great video, Bruce. Really like the very practical and multi-angle, multi-situational displaying of the watch and you're discussion around the purchasing experience and the expected servicing. The more I see this Club case design, the more I want one of these. The case reminds me a little of the "other" Glashutte brands while still being distinctly Nomos and I like that. I'm hoping I can sell a couple Tag Hueres and have something like this join my Omega Seamaster PO. I think I'd get this one with a leather or NATO strap in my case!

Just sent my blue to my AD for service after the stem popped out (known issue). The only real problem with sending the watch into Nomos these days is the cost to ship to Germany ($80 from NJ) and then the customs charges that occur on Germanys side and that’s before any service charges. It’s still my favorite piece and I plan to buy this black one too, but it’s good to be aware. Be sure to take advantage of your AD’s warranty.

i got this one about a year ago and i love the understatement of a very very well excetued craftsmanship Nomos shows with this one, with a more rigid approach for the daily wear. Only thing I would criticise is the clasp that is a little of a scratch magnet, the scratches are fine for the braclet, just showing that the watch lives with me more then alot of higher priced watches i have, but the clasp seems to look for new scratches just on the edges, but thats it. Perhaps its great that its not perfect, otherwise I would have to say that is the best i can expect from Nomos and this minute imperfection just keeps me looking at the brand on and on.

After a clear out and leaving my collection at 4 from 14 I’m really thinking about bringing a sport variant in . I still have my Ahoy 40mm which wears big so wondering if the 42 will be just too big considering it’s all face ..I absolutely love the dial on black Tangente , mint green indices with pops of red what a combo They don’t sell the bracelet separately I could use the bracelet with my Ahoy too . Such beautifully crafted watches at the price .and as 25 percent discount is readily available I don’t know if I can resist much longer .. it will all depend on whether I think the size is just too much .l

I totally agree with you when it comes to the details. Nomos is awesome at this point. I own an Orion 38 and I totally love that watch. But for this special model I don't know. The bracelet is absolutely not my type. To me, Nomos was always a thin leather bracelet. What also bothers me is that Nomos as adjusted the prices pretty much up over the last three years (especially for the club models). Sure, they only adapt to the market. And if the customer is willing to pay, they would be stupid to not raise prices. On the other hand, Nomos has always been to me a small manufacturer that gives the customer a lot of value for a relatively small amount of money.
But I am really not sure, if I like the way the company is on.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  5 лет назад +2

I hear you man and congrats on the 38! I do like how Nomos doesn't play the mark up game. For instance they could easily have priced this at 6,000 and I could haggle my AD down to 4,000. Instead they just priced it at market value to begin with. Most of the pieces are at higher price points but I love that they offer some sub 2000. Which is pretty amazing considering what you get.

Considering they developed movements that are COMPLETELY in house, it's actually okay. They make the whole escapement down to the hairspring. In fact, they are one of the only producers of hairsprings. It was an enormous financial effort. The finish on the movements might be mashine applied but is top notch for the price.

It's very sharp looking with great lume, however, I'm not that keen on the bracelet. The bracelet is nicely made (145 individual parts with a deployant clasp) but doesn't suit this particular watch. If you are not getting wet it may look better on a cordovan strap or rubber (perhaps a Tropic)?
It's quite an expensive piece here in the UK (3,220 GBP) with a 3 month delivery time.

Very nice watch. I'm really into German watches right now, owning a Laco and an Archimede and I'm strongly considering getting a Damasko. If I needed a nice dress watch, a Nomos Orion or Stowa Antea would be at the top of my list. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) the opportunity to wear a dress watch now that I'm retired is close to zero. Still, I think these are beautiful timepieces, are exquisitely made, and are something to be desired.

Have been lusting after the Damast finish DA45 myself... but unsure about the leather strap... wish they had the dark bracelet like they do the brushed model but maybe that’s saving me from spending a couple grand on another watch... for now.

I'm curious why the Club sport and not the Tangente version?

great watch - lug to lug a bit challenging with over 50 mm for slimmer wrists - 48 mm would be better, however the Club is best the looking watch of Nomos' Sport Neomatik Series (compared the the Tangente Sport Neomatik - white and black dial) - this Club Sport is like the bigger brother of the Rolex Explorer (39 mm)

Not sure about those micro screws on the bracelet, can they get loose? Panerai had that Problem, after they changed their bracelets without those micro screws

The 42mm case is disappointing to me because it seemed like everyone was starting to finally decrease case diameter and then they put this out. So I think it wasnt maybe the best move for them. If they introduce this in sub 40mm case it's be great

I usually enjoy your reviews and this one was no different. That is until I got to the end of your video review, where it started to feel like a commercial for the AD where you purchased your Nomos. Were you compensated in any way from this AD? Nothing wrong with that if you did, as long as you're upfront about it for the folks viewing your channel.

Nope if you are a regular viewer you'll notice I commonly suggest ADs or link site's on where to buy whichever watch is being featured. I work with a lot of stores and dealers from Mimos, to ECJLuxe to Japan-onlinestore to J Brooks and more. Nothing new and I feel my videos stand on their own merit.

You did a SotC and this wasnt in it, did you sell it or something happen? I just recentley found this watch and am really considering it, so any other info on it would be great, cheers.

    Amazing review, thank you!
I also pause on the bracelet but we'll see. I want to 3D design/print a strap that'll fill the gap in the lugs. (Do I go TPU strap or nylon links?)
Isn't it pronounced "Etta?" I emailed them years back and dove into this topic, and the conclusion seemed to be that ETA is a derivative of Eterna, and there's no reason for them to capitalize the letters. The current supposed acronym of excellence, time, accuracy or whatever was made up by the advertising agency.

The only downer are the lugs! Not small wrist friendly it’s the only downer though
