A narrative Battle Report using HC2 rules and my individually based HYW Armies from Perry Miniatures
A large French force attacks a village in Normandy controlled by a smaller English contingent.
The English deploy defensively behind a small Village wall deploy their stakes and wait for the French.
The French need to tackle a small village wall but most importantly they have to cross a small river with its marshy banks in order to reach the well defended English
The only way the French can cross unhindered is from a Bridge located on their right flank but again the French need to change their formation to Column in order to cross something that makes them very venerable from Shooting but also Hand to hand combat.
On the other flank of the English there is a shallow part of the river the French can cross without any major delays but again a location guarded by veteran Longbowmen behind sharpened stakes.
Forgot to mention in the video that the English knights charge recklessly ahead because of a Blunder roll.
The only house rule i used would be increasing the number of shooting dice for the longbows from 3 to 4
Al Miniatures are from Perry Plastic Miniatures Agincourt Range 28mm

Thank you dear Phil! Yes the outcome was favourable for the French the English knights who where supposed to support as reserves blundered and charged impetuously leaving the flanks of the English unprotected. Thank you for watching my friend!

I enjoyed that battle report very much !
The visual of the battle was brilliant 😊 it gave a real impression of close combat.. I think this has a lot to do with the rules with no figure removal.. A great scenario again !

You have a point dear Ray i tried to make it a bit cinematic and avoided dice rolling etc. more like a movie than a battle repopr explaining what is happening and also trying to get good cinematic shots. Glad you enjoyed it my friend! Thank you for watching!

What is your favourite rule set for medieval war gaming?

    • @MedievalWargamer
      @MedievalWargamer  7 месяцев назад

Hi Harry! I assume you mean big battle rules? Well the Rule set i stuck with for many many years was IMPETVS although i am not using it any more probably i wanted something new but amazing set of rules. The last 4-5 years i am using SWORDPOINT and occasionally HC with some House Rules for the HYW.

I like your mounted crossbows. Thats a detail that's often forgotten. They might not be mentioned as much in the limelight of chronicles and stuff, but I believe actual muster records show mounted crossbows being rather common as support elements.
I remember your video of setting up foot knights where a lot of the mass of the unit was in slightly lesser armed retainers behind and around their heavier lords. I would think something similar also happened with cavalry. I may have missed it if you had a video on the topic of cavalry composition though.

Very good point my friend!mounted crossbows and also mounted longbows were a very important part of the strategy!fast flexible mobile they could ambush opponents very quickly! I have to shot a video like that you are correct it would be interesting! Thank you for watching my friend!

IT would be great If you could show more dice rolls. That would make IT easier to understand wat IS Happening and a Bit more exiting in my opinion. 👍
