I read in a study that the music we listen to when we grow up is what shapes are musical taste. For instance I grew up listening to linkin park, 2000s hits and whatever pop hits came out in 2009-2016 and I still get the same level of joy listening to them now as I did years ago. How about you?
@@TheSpinia you’re not wrong. Once 2016 hit mid year I dropped everything dubstep, trap,edm anything with monster cat or airwavedubstep. But coming back to them really hits me in the feels. I’m almost reliving old moments because of them❤️

Almost eight years later. Still in love with this. It doesn’t come up often in my rotation anymore, but when I’m feeling something like this, this is one of the few songs that evokes the feelings I seem to be looking for.

I think I just cried, but my huge grin is using up all the muscles so that my nerves can't feel the tears. :') This song is absolutely beautiful! I have not heard something as dramatic and dynamic as this yet still stay nice, quiet, and sweet. Draper has made some of my favorite tracks, but this is in a whole new league! The use of vocals, the use of bass, the use of percussion; it makes me want to just have this on repeat for the rest of time! How can something so majestic be audible to human ears!? This is by far one of the most amazing releases in a while, and it makes me sad to know that this track will be under rated and left behind by more hyped tracks... At least you guys and me can enjoy this track here and now.
Case & Point's amazing song is coming Friday, and I have to say, it is gonna be massive! I can't wait to hear the full song!

Best vocals ever. I've never heard anything more emotional, and Laura is probably the best singer out there. Its a shame she hasn't gotten to the point where she is commonly heard on the radio, she's incredible, and the world needs to know this.

There were 3 eras of Monstercat. 2011-2013 was the good old stage that we know and love. Electro and Dubstep was used in many gaming videos, and this is essentially what launched Monstercat into popularity. 2014-2016 was the golden age. The peak of Monstercat's music. Artists like Rezonate and Noisestorm began getting popular due to their new styles of music. This was one of the most favorable periods in Monstercat. 2017-2019 was the changing points in monstercat music. Artists like Tristam and Pegboard nerds completely change their styles of music, and Monstercat sort of changed. It didn't feel like it used to. What happened to the old nostalgic vibes? The album covers no longer stuck out like they used to, looking more dull and plain. I wish I could go back to the older days

The typical 2017 - Future Era actually goes perfect for anything else (especially for heavy Rock & PsyTrance or any typical chill garage house like CloudNone), while these two Eras are pretty worth coming back to for anything Nostalgic-Wise.

To me, the lyrics theoretically speak of how mainstream pop stars really feel about their record label's hold on their music. Their excessive creative control and being forced to conform to their standards stirs up a sense of rebellion 'They can't tell me what is right for me', and desire to break free and reboot their career as an independent artist 'I just need peace of mind and my ability' eventually arises, but they are too weak to simply walk out, and eventually just stagnate, but with the mindset to not completely submit while the idea of getting out is still possible. You may disagree with that interpretation, but you can't disagree that this song is great, and that the best songs don't have easily interpretable lyrics.
that's a really unique interpretation of this song for me. I personally thought it was simply the feelings and thoughts of someone going through depression or something but hey, yours is better imo :)

I subscribed to Monstercat a long while ago(around the time when they started to use the new visualizer), and only in late 2013 I started to keep up with the uploads, listening to most every song. Out of every song I've heard, this is hands-down my number one favorite song on the label.
This is such a timeless track. Really beautiful. I probably didn't discover this song when it got released. Weirdly, I still remember a faint memory I still have, of me listening to this song in the backseat of the car, driving home at night. I must've been around my teens. Can't for the life of me remember how long ago this was and such. Really weird how only that bit of this memory stuck with me.

My god this is beautiful. I love Draper so much. He's grown so much as an artist, and it really shows in this track. He's really mastering his craft, and evoking some pretty heavy feels with his most recent releases. Anyone check out his new EP Sonder? Pretty great stuff right there.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the term EDM. It gives off the vibes that electronic music is meant for raving and dancing. Can't say I've ever done either of those. Electronic and electronic music are better. I'm still forced to use EDM just because it's quicker though. Glad Monstercat did this.

Dunno why, but think those era's of Monstercat were the best. Around those times. Not that Monstercat doesn't release good stuff anymore. I'd say they still do. But many or most of my favorite tracks are from those periods. Same goes for the classics. Back then I was still in my teens. Now it's 2024 and I'm 24. Discovered Monstercat through Flight by Tristam & Braken.
