    I had the pleasure of meeting Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness several times. Both are highly talented men with thoughtful demeanors. While lesser men try to demonize them both they never fail to impress me. History will judge them both very well. The world needs more of them and I only regret that we do not have that quality of leadership here in the US.

    I'm a protestant .My first wife was a protestant ..She turned out to be wearing a mask.What a lying unfaithful thieving piece of work .No kids thank god .My new wife of 20 years is Catholic .Love her dearly .Love of my life .Turns our kids out immaculate every day .Healthy home made soup and meals. We don't give a toss about religion .We love each other far too much for that .Greetings from Scotland x

    My early years were sent in Ireland , my parents went through the Troubles and the English control , went to Jesuit schools ..... To miss Mass was a mortal sin ... You ended up terrified ! Never forget the Irish are unique race and have earned our place in history ! One way or the other !

      Yes - speaking as an Irish citizen and someone proud of & knowledgeable, fairly scholarly about being Irish incl. the Irish Diaspora, Irish genius & fortitude in historic suffering - there has been a toxic level of evil, atrocious Church sexual abuse in Ireland and globally.

    I was raised a Catholic in England by an Northern Irish mum, I don't go to church anymore by choice I'm very open minded and I don't thing the church and being open minded go together. I do use some of the lessons I learned from my early years going to church I treat everyone the same and I also treat people how I want to be treated.

    i thought he was gonna say he's not so much into going to mass, but in terms of taking an interest in spirituality, he gets into reading the bible. obviously this is something that cannot be admitted to as he needs to tow the party line, and ensure, he doesn't partake is what is protestant style Christianity lol. im saying this as a catholic btw

  • @bcharville
    @bcharville 12 лет назад +1

    @NKDP1 Priestly celibacy is not a Dogma, it is a discipline. Catholic Priests in the Eastern Rites are not required to remain celibate. That is something that is really only had to be enforced in the West/Latin Rite, because of the formation of Bishoprics, etc.
    The Catholic Church and its nearly 2000 year history is more complex than perhaps you have dared to imagine.

  • @applecorera4

    I think Gerry would have made a good priest. As he doesn't seem too bothered about telling the truth. I did however get the sense that he was admitting to being partly a Naturalist even a spiritualist. I say it will be the closest that he ever comes to admitting that he is anything ending in 'ist'. However he does raise a valid point about the likely reaction of Christ to the infighting prevalent in Christianity. Whatever happened to encouraging each other.
    As an aside. There happened to be a compare the market advert before this video. Where one of the characters was wearing a t-shirt with I 'Heart' SF.

    @chairde As shoppers hurried home at dusk, they were startled to see two young men, aged 18 and 19, being marched through Belfast's Falls Road slum, heavily populated by Catholics. A group of angry members of the I.R.A. (the outlawed Irish Republican Army) tied the two boys to a lamppost and poured cold tar varnish and feathers over their shaved heads

    @VictorLepanto First of all saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. Secondly, it is estimated by mainstream media sources that over a million iraqis have died as a result of the conflict since the U.S. invasion in 2003. The "Opinion Research Business" and other research groups calcuate that approximately 1.03 million iraqi's have died as a result of the war. This information is published by mainstream sources such as reuters.

    I think it has done good things though, like preventing clergy from forming, theocracies, bishoprics etc; in effect they were establishing their own monarchies and families like the Borgias and the de Medicis were using their clerical positions to gain power so I think their intentions for requiring celebacy were good... .jesus is the way the truth and the life no man can come to the father except through him......Jesus basically came for sin which entered into the garden through disobedience so Adam and eve basically sold by eating from the three if knowledge cause the serpent said you come like God......its called original and there was a one time sacrifice for that sin at the cross by Jesus dying and shedding his blood so that we could be brought back into fellowship with the father......when Jesus rose and defeated death the curse sin was broken ...there for we were brought into fellowship God through the cross which ushered in a new covenant called grace and the indwelling of the holy spirit cause jesus said greater things shall you do cause I go to the father..........one mediator between God and man and that's jesus christ.......devote some time to it it will open your eyes up to the truth
