Great buy for £55. The arched fronds are class. I've had butia odoratas up at my place in Newcastle for 4 winters now. They've done well with a little winter damage but no deaths. Good luck with yours. The eriospatha is hardier. If you see one on marketplace snap it up
Great find on the Butia, got mine last year a similar size but was about £80 with the postage, got through winter planted out on a bit of a mound with a sandy/gritty mix with just some fleece tucked into the crown. It didn't really do anything this year apart from throw out a couple of stunted fronds but im hoping its just its sulk year and then it will start romping away next year.
Thanks, that’s a shame that it put out stunted growth this year. I do hope it puts out full size growth next year for you. Do you think it had been field dug and it was in shock because of that?

Yeah that’s the good thing about travelling with work! The washys are fine in the greenhouse with just a 40w heat cable for the whole greenhouse. I haven’t been able to keep one alive outside of the greenhouse though!
