Capt’, I knew when I read the title that you were here on the Nature coast! You haven’t caught a grouper until you catch one in shallow waters! Thanks for the video!🔥🔥🔥👊
Awesome gag grouper fishing, love it.Ppl go to100 foot Depts all the time to catch big grouper and that ain’t case all the time. I caught a 10 pound gag grouper in between 25 to 30 feet of water.
@@chronicawareness9986 I go out of Bayport about 30 min. away. Got a 27" & 31" in 8ft of water in Winter. They are moving out deeper this time of year. I have 18' boat and go out 20 miles on calm day
@@ChuckTaylor-ct6fq I've seen a guide do the opposite. Keep the line taut and "pluck" the line really hard. It pisses them off or something and it worked every time.
I see you visited the old nuclear plant. Back in the 90's, people who worked there would bring their family out once a year during winter to fish the discharge water spillway. The water was warmer than what as in the ocean and it attracted large amounts of fish. Every cast brought in a fish... I miss those days, before terrorism won and took away our freedoms. After 9/11, the plant stopped allowing employees to bring their family out to the spillway.
I caught my biggest black grouper ever in 8 feet of water off of Hudson Florida just Northwest of Hudson fish weighed 21 lb you talk about a fight we catch so many in that area we don't bother running offshore you can take a 12 foot jon boat and do the same thing
That guide is all like you don’t have to go 60,80, or 100 ft deep to catch big grouper. If you want consistent numbers of BIG grouper, we’ll yeah usually you do, if not even deeper. I was seein lots of dinks, those size fish would get ate in deep water, the reason they’re in 9-10ft water in rock holes is so they don’t get ate lol. Honestly what Captain thinks it’s a good idea to fish for keeper gags in SINGLE DIGIT WATERS? Under the right conditions in say Tampa Bay yeah they can be caught around docks, but good groupers are common but not the MONSTER fish you see offshore. Even in the middle of the bay you’re just not seeing the amount of big fish that you see in triple digit depth waters. The reason that’s been the way to do it for years is because it’s true, and then this guy starts saying he’s fished for grouper in 3-4ft deep water. LMAO he can have at it, I wouldn’t be doing that when there’s better depths and areas to focus attention on.
If you don’t find this type of fishing enjoyable, don’t do it.. but if you’ve never caught a 15lb Gag in 6 feet of water.. give it a try! Sure is a blast! Great work guys 👍
I live here and it’s a foot of water per mile you go out. There’s piles in 20 ft of water where I only caught keeper gags while trolling deep diving plugs. Shit the biggest gag I’ve ever seen was caught in 10 ft of water and you’ve never done it so you don’t know what you’re talking about
Just like snook are on the decline thats all bullshit we have more snook n grouper than you would ever believe you must not fish alot. Just like red snapper you can't even grouper fish offshore cause the snapper eat ur bait before a grouper can
Filmed in my back yard! I LOVE living here...
Can this be done on a fly gear?
If so, what set up?
Citrus County for the win!! My favorite place to fish it just keep getting better🤙🏽 fair winds

I would love to dive in that shallow of water and shoot grouper
Awesome video fellas. Beautiful redfish. Great to see some fishing videos out of SWFL.
do you charter? how much?
Looks to me you gave every possible manufacturer credit except the captain. I either missed Capt Branch’s contact info or you didn’t post.
Nice video guys. Watching for the first. Were you fishing out of crystal river?
Really wish you would've gone over what to do when the fish gets into the rocks.
Give them slack , they will think that they are free and swim out of the rocks .

I keep pressure on them and pluck the line.... had a 32 incher get stuck for 10 min he finally came out

Just another way to catch them, that’s all. Catching them on a jerk shad and light tackle spin gear is pretty darn fun too. Thanks for watching Matt!

The guys with smaller boats will continue to enjoy these shallow water gags while you continue on your high horse
Well the bay has alot of pressure on the grouper fishery there. so naturally there's not gonna be huge numbers of big fish

Save the Big Fish to procreate. We have so few fish left in the water. Please Catch and Release

The only time you get good grouper in shallow water is out of season... Sucks .
