  • This video is all about the life lessons I learned in CRNA school over the last 15 months. This has been the most grueling process I have ever been apart of. Showing up day in and day out: here are the major lessons I've learned!

    Yes!! As an ICU NP I often remind myself and the bedside nurses that “we have to get comfortable being uncomfortable”
    Thanks David!

    Self care is so important when you're under a time limit and have a massive amount of work to complete. My daughter just took the Step I and the amount of additional studying for the test besides studying for the in class exams was unbelievable. She committed to take a Yoga Class once a week for an hour and making dinner two nights a week instead of eating out every day. That was for her mental health and as she would put it, "feel like a normal human being". LOL
    Good luck with your schooling. It sounds like your doing a great job!

    Grinding away studying whenever u could was how I got through nursing school. I had all of my books and notes on my icloud so if I was out somewhere like in a grocery store like I would study a few minutes from my phone! I did as work part time as a pct so that took away some of my studying hours but also helped at the same time for the critical care.

    Hi David! Great video, that’s so cool how you have both NP and CRNA exposure and experience! How do you like National University? I’m thinking about their NP program later in the future.

      NU has an amazing CRNA program- couldn't recommend enough. I don't know much about their NP program tho!

    Hi! I know this is an older video, but I just got out of the military and looking to start my journey in nursing and eventually to become a CRNA. One of my biggest questions and concerns is wether or not the university I get my BSN from matters. I am currently looking at UMASS Boston, which is a state school but one of the better ones, so I couldn’t imagine it would hamstring me from future success, but I just wanted to see if anyone else that is in the world of nursing had any other insight. Thank you for the super informative video!

      really don't matter, get that BSN, CCRN, get in a leadership roles(optional but looks good) , make sure your GPA is up there and GRE just look up on there program and see what they want . I got my ADN first then got my BSN then after 2 years in ICU I applied to 5 schools interviewed in 2 and accepted in one. I'm one year in CRNA.

    I am an NP wanting to go to CRNA school but need ICU experience even though I have 13 years of emergency medicine. How did you get into CRNA program? Did you have to go back to get ICU experience?

    • @DavidWarrenNP
      @DavidWarrenNP  11 месяцев назад +3

      Hi! And no- my emergency medicine experience counted as critical care. This was largely depend on what type of emergency medicine setting you are working in. Are you performing invasive procedures, managing drips/vent settings etc. There are only a few schools that will accept emergency medicine experience. My best advice would be to work in the ICU as a nurse practitioner. Then, you could go to any school you want.

      @@DavidWarrenNP This was my question too David. Hi, my name is Josh. I asked Paulene who was also on RUclips and making video as SRNA.
      She mentioned your channel and baam I am here. I know you mentioned the National University. Did the National University consider your experience as an ER NP without CCRN as part of the admission requirement?
      I am not an ICU nurse but an NP student who wants to practice in ICU/ER setting for a good time then explore options. I am considering CRNA for my doctoral degree but didn't know some schools waive ICU/CCRN experience.
      Do you think you can explain this a little bit more in detail? In addition, do you have any Linkedin acc? Thanks in advance.

    Just curious - you mentioned you had several years of ED experience. Are there any programs that accept ED experience in lieu of ICU experience?

    • @Clearlynotcalvin
      @Clearlynotcalvin Год назад +1

      It totally depends on the accepting school. I only have one school in North Dakota that has a CRNA program. They require a year at minimum of ICU RN experience. I know schools around the country want different experiences. There was a school in NY that allows ER RN experience

    • @DavidWarrenNP
      @DavidWarrenNP  5 месяцев назад

      There are a few programs that consider it, but VERY few. The best option is to get good high acuity ICU experience. You can go anywhere you want with that.
