@Paul Bell "well let me have a rule and a saw and a board and I'll cut it, climbed up a ladder with a hammer and nail and I nailed it, in the snow or the rain or the ice cold wind whenever, no matter, what the weather, we're together "
I can't get over it, this song can't stop making me cry. It's a happy re-unifying song that takes place in a scene when you start building up again, you keep going with your life, only looking forward and standing up everytime you fall. This takes place a long time after Arthur's death, but for us, it was just some minutes or hours later. I was still shocked for his death, and the game forcing us to keep going and letting us know there's no turn back or a way to solve what happened it's a reality check, and it's so sad for me, because it's just like real life. Arthur is a man that've done bad actions and had a wrong behaviour due to things that happened in his life, but I think he (we) notices this even before the big news, so he started realizing some stuff about his environment and "friends" and started acting in a better way, even if he keeps messin' up and acting the wrong way sometimes, he's trying to change to a better person before he goes a way. That's literally me, I reflect myself so much in him... And plus, my name is Arthur too, so this game really hit me hard. "And no matter, what's the weather, we are together" - Hearing this, watching some of the very few people that were good to us building up their new life and being happy without Arthur being there to live that new life, destroys me inside.
You are absolutely right.. after Arthur's illness & death on that cliff I cried a lot. Once Arthur gets sick and we start to feel his demise is close as a player we unknowingly change from a bad Arthur to a good Arthur. It really impacts our lives and I think only one video game does it from looting people banks and train & killing for fun and buying outfits and guns we start to help each NPC we meet. When John starts to build a house we really miss Arthur a lot. And when we know the story of RDR 1 that John is going to die it again breaks out heart as player..
Just started a construction/home improvement company. My three best friends are a plumber, an electrician, and a carpenter, respectively-in a few years, you can bet your ass I'll be playing this over the speakers when we build a house for me and the crazy welding-woman of my dreams. Wish me luck, boahs, and let's hope 2024 gives all the redemption we're after. EDIT/UPDATE: It's quite a long story, Boahs and girls, but I ended up getting out of the business because I was still an apprentice and I realized that the people I was learning from were insane. One in particular was a crackhead named Crazy Steve. Crazy Steve has a lot of skill and talent, but he'd get tweaked out on the job and that made it impossible for me to continue in that line of work. I cannot stand Crazy Steve, and yet he was my sensei, it goes a lot deeper than that (I ended up meeting the city's dope kingpin because Crazy Steve wanted to sell him a job), but I'll leave the full Steve experience for like, a book, or something. Anyway, these days I'm in a different line of work entirely because of a random opportunity I've been waiting years for: Writing for a film. That's the cliff-notes version of the last year of my life, but make no mistake, my best friends are still in the same professions, and I'll still build that house for me and Welder-Girl. Don't worry, only the method's changed, the end-goal hasn't.

You know what? I'll just pretend that rdr 1 never happened, Ross said "fu*k this sh*t" and went fishing, giving up on hunting John Down, and John lived happy with Abigail, Jack, Rufus and Uncle.
You may know this, but it's heavily implied that Arthur was 'reincarnated' as the Bluejay (I think) that watches over you throughout the whole house building process. There's also some dialogue earlier about reincarnation that supports this, so he is kinda with us!
No other gaming scene has made me more happy than the house building scene. It’s literally just John and co building a house and it’s the most wholesome scene in a game I’ve ever seen!
During this moment Arthur, Lenny, Sean, Kieran and hosea were there, sharing this happy moment with their friends but Charles, John and uncle weren't able to see them
I feel like the good part of Dutch would be there too, Like how Anakin skywalker appeared at the end of Return Of The Jedi alongside ObiWan and Yoda, because he seems to feel bad for what he did the Arthur and John
We all gonna come back to this song in 10 years and just go way back to what we will probably call the good old days. I cant tell you guys how much this scene put a smile on my face along with this song just felt so damn peaceful having a good time listening to this song while building a house with your friends. Damn most wholesome moment in any rockstar game to date
I’ve gone through the entire epilogue with a bittersweet felling, just knowing that John really tried to put his past behind him, but like Dutch said: you can’t fight nature, and people always want to find a “monster” to hunt. The first RDR just got way more sad after all that.
i love how rockstar decided "how bout in one scene we do one of the most epic and saddest fights in gaming history with arthur and micah, than the next scene where john marston build house :D
Not long after I played this part. Part of my parent’s fence collapsed in a storm and as I fixed it, I played this song on my phone. My parent’s neighbours still look at me funny.
The best thing of this mission is the little bird appearing in almost every shot of John hammering or moving wooden planks. It's Arthur watching over him from the Afterlife.
Lyrics (if you need it): Well let me have a rule and a saw in a board, now cut it I'll climb up a ladder with a hammer and nail now nail it Well, we worked so hard to build a little house together In the snow or the rain or the ice cold wind, whenever No matter What the weather We're together (For the last part) No matter Any weather We're together
May he rest in peace, my stepfather is a carpenter too although cant say he is into country lol he makes fun of me for my love of western and country music
Gotta give it to John, he's always been loyal to Abigail. Even in the first game when working girls cat call to him for a good time, he politely refuses and says he's happily married.
@@Bobby__B john actually cheated on Abigail not really when he is drunk he gets close to kiren then you know she refuse is but it is hella funny to watch when kiten refuse to John _ John ask Arthur am i crazy ARTHUR: YeS
i like to think that the little bird that hung around while john and charles built the house was arthur in some way, watching over his friends making sure they get it done safely and right. i love this game!
Harrison is right. Also, blue is Arthur's signature colour (his everyday shirt and cold weather coat are both blue). So I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar made that reference.
Was in the park on a sunny weekend, just chillin' by the pond, listening to the RDR 2 soundtrack playlist in headphones. When the house building theme came on, a mother duck waddled past me with ducklings behind her. They were all waddling in perfect synch with the music. It was one of the cutest things i've ever seen. 😊😄
That blue jay watching John and company build the house had to have been Arthur. The game mentioned something about reincarnation earlier on, and Arthur wears a blue coat in the first chapter of the story.
I thought that that was more of a symbolic story thing. If Arthur is honourable in his time, it's a buck, and if he's dishonourable it's a wolf. I don't think the animal is actually supposed to be him

That blue jay watching John and company build the house had to have been Arthur. The game mentioned something about reincarnation earlier on, and Arthur wears a blue coat in the first chapter of the story.

@@jcnom6606 There's an unkillable buck or wolf near where he died? I need to see this
jack happ I haven't see that either. Is there a video of that yet?
I thought that that was more of a symbolic story thing. If Arthur is honourable in his time, it's a buck, and if he's dishonourable it's a wolf. I don't think the animal is actually supposed to be him
That thing of reincarnation wasn't mentioned by Uncle to John?
