I did the entire epilogue after finishing the main game, and this was literally the only time I could stop feeling sad about Arthur.

@@rick6174 John is the one who ruined it, the credits scenes make that clear. He went after revenge, and that led Ross to him. "Revenge is a fool's game", Arthur's biggest piece of advice, which he didn't follow.

This scene was so wholesome but also made me really miss Arthur. He’d be smoking a cigarette standing behind John as he’s hammering away cracking jokes like “look at the golden boy”. Then Charles would give Arthur a look and Arthur would say something like “Alright, alright calm down” and he’d finally step in and do the majority of the grunt work cause it’s the right thing to do. He’d be so proud of Marston for building this house
i'm a little late, but you see that bird the blue jay that can be seen in a few shots, supposedly that's Arthur as it only appears on a high honour ending, and i heard someone say arthurs says his favorite bird is a bluejay

Arthur is able to see what he could not before he passed, his vision and mind clearer even as he’s dying. I might be overthinking it but it’s definitely an amazing detail to the story
I think he would just first and ask john to talk less and do more, arthur always offers to carry things, probably for chivalry but still. I like when he says "get the hell out of here and be a godamn man", building a whole farm, giving a good use for that ring in a beautiful but simple proposal, having a proper marriage, bonding with Jack, living honestly. Arthur couldn't be more proud, if only John heard Abigail about forgetting Micah

note: in almost every scene there is a blue bird watching the building. many say it could be Arthur's spirit seeing John's conquest as Arthur's shirt color is blue and he loved this bird called blue jay. even after finishing the house the game intentionally shows the bird leaving

The thing I love most about this sequence is how the characters come together and help each other. They're all pretty lost at this point in the game, Uncle aimlessly wandering Blackwater, Charles with his fighting career, and John without his family. So they build a lil house together, and for once theres no killing, no stealing. Just three men working in all sorts of weather building a house. It's as if, for once, things became normal for them. Reminds me of the scene in Shawshank Redemption where they got the beers. For once, they could pretend they were normal people.

You can see in certain scenes the blue bird as a representation of Arthur, he was there watching John build his house and move on, how proud he is.
When one of the best moments in a action game is a house building sequence, you know you are playing a GOOD game.

This sequence literally breathed life back into me after the events of the story
I’ve played every single Rockstar game and this is one of my favorite moments from any of their titles.
What did you think about l.a. noire?
L.A. Norie is a great game. Different pacing and structure than other Rockstar Games but definitely worth playing. Really captures the era. Play the DLC as well, has a very memorable case/mission.

I've found out over the years that Rockstar wants the players to do nothing but story missions back to back until the end of the game, which leaves you with free roam and the side missions to flesh out the world around us.

This part was special for me. I took my time beating this game to the point I would take months off just to let some of the story arc experiences sit with me, almost aging like a fine wine. By the time I got to Arthur’s ending, a year had past since I first started the game so to me it felt like I was really sharing the times with these characters just like how time went by in-game. This little bit was a joyous moment in a game with many emotional moments, something Rockstar games like GTA don’t usually invoke (too many comedic moments to take seriously). Just hearing this cheerful, catchy tune and watching them build the ranch was a down time that was really needed after everything we went through for the last 80 hours or so (I clocked in at 103 hours for my playthrough and Arthur’s whole story took a little more than 80). I have no played the game again since beating it 2 years ago and I don’t know if I will. I felt like I had experienced something incredible that only a few video game stories really delivered (The Last of Us, Death Stranding, The Walking Dead Telltale series) and I feel to constantly replay this will diminish what I felt at the end credits
It is incredible how simply building a house in an interactive cutscene is the palate cleanser you need to understand that you’ll be okay after Arthur’s death.
I love how John literally builds a ranch for abigail, goes to avenge the gang comes back with $20,000 and she's still pissed.
In all fairness I'm pretty sure she didn't want him going to avenge the gang. It's been a bit since I did it but I'm pretty sure she just wants him to stay home.
I mean, it's an understandable thing to be pissed about considering it was his avenging that lead to his ultimate demise.
Lol I feel like John could be getting beat tf up, literally about to die, and when he kills the guy and survives, she would be like ‘wE HaVe a SON’
