Teke teke is japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of her nails scraping along the ground as she crawls, the story goes that a girl was pushed onto the train tracks by bullies and cut in half and now shes a vengeful spirit who chases and cuts people in half and its based on a real urban legend like the slit mouthed woman legend.
The story is so new to him that he was freaked out by an old lady as if he was some kind of puritan! also, was she a schoolgirl when she died, or was that a mistranslation?
@ColdDarkSoul she was a schoolgirl when she passed according to the urban legend and she haunts the railway track in the form of a schoolgirl who is cut in half at the waist, she uses her arms to drag herself along the ground and I believe she's vengeful as people ignored the fact she was being bullied and didn't step in to help but I could be wrong on that part.
You'd think if these spirits were smart, they would only enact their revenge on those specific bullies and not innocent bystanders minding their own business.
@Boomblox5896 the belief like with most spirirts is they are tied to the place they die or like the case with teke teke she can only move in and around train tracks near where she passes away
@kryoruleroftheninthcircleo4151 I also recall hearing she can be defeated in some tellings. I can't recall exactly, but I know that if you answer some questions correctly, she stops pursuing you. I loved the last game, I interpreted it as a metaphor for sexual abuse in childhood. Some attackers will promise a child that “this is the last time” and then ask for more and more later. They make a child think they’re safe when they’re not. Using manipulative phrases like “you’re a true friend” or “you wouldn’t want to disappoint me” is common in sexual abuse in children. I thought that was pretty interesting. It completely changes every detail of the game and shows you its far more sinister than a scary cheese monster.
I noticed that too. It being a representation of grooming, and even starting out as something that doesn't seem like a bad thing, is putting the child in danger. then the manipulation when the child tries to stand up for themself. The part that really got me, was how"gathering cheese" started hurting the child, not just scaring them.

Jack is so funny. I love how patient and curious he is in video games because that tends to be where part of the opportunities come from for him to be funny. The main reason games like teketeke take place in rural japan is because the monster is usually a form of yokai, metaphysical mythical beings that haunted ancient japan, so the rural environment builds an aesthetic for the monster.

I'm just in the the start but Jack calling Evelyn about the pronunciation and everything warmed my heart. Also just like... how they interact with each other makes my cold dead heart believe in love a little more today, so... thank you 🖤
From personal observations of watching people walk while out in public, generally the direction people's feet face first determines which direction they're likely to go because it seems like you "think with your feet vs your head" in regards to deciding direction if that makes sense.
That first game got me... So much so that my dog came to see if I was ok, haha! I'm so glad you posted a video today. The world is weird and scary right now and I needed a night of Sean playing horror games! It's spooky season!!! Hooray!!
JACK, I have to say I’ve been following for a while and my ptsd has been really awful lately. I find myself able to forget things and just sit and enjoy your videos. Thank you truly for all you do!
The reason why urban legends in Japan take place in the countryside area of Japan not just because of horror possibilities in games. In the past, yokai were just a thing that excisted in Japan. It wasn't a belief but they just excisted. This was in the time Japan had hardly any contact with the west. When the time of modernisation came, big cities started to pop up and the west influenced Japan. Colonisation became a thing and anxious that Japan would become a colonized they tried to modernize to western standards. This caused Japan to frame the yokai as something of the past, something urban, like the not-modernized countryside. So the countryside became one thing with the excistence of yokai.

The problem was the CEO, along with pressure from investors, and miscellaneous corporate bs. There are so many great indie developers making awesome games using Unity - please don't drag them down because the CEO of a tool they're using f'ed up. 💚
For those keen of the eyes, Jack has actually already seen an adaptation of the smiling man, but in short film form, in his Scariest Videos On The Internet #8! "anyone acknowledging this legend might meet Tekke Tekke in their bathroom durinf the upcoming month"
23:00 That crouch sent one of the strongest feelings of fear through me. That pose is so creepy with that smile
Hooray!!
7:46 is the biggest jumpscare of my life
I couldn't help but think of Riki Tiki Tavi with this title.
JACK, I have to say I’ve been following for a while and my ptsd has been really awful lately. I find myself able to forget things and just sit and enjoy your videos. Thank you truly for all you do!
Hang in there man. I struggled with ptsd in the past…it’s a terrible thing. Glad that watchin Jack gives you a distraction though
Praying for u dude. Seán provided an escape for me when I dealt with depression. Glad he can help you through PTSD
Great job Jack! You got ‘Teke Teke’ on just the fourth try!
I feel like the voice he used for Mr. Lupin was spot on lol
Much thanks to the editor for the always on point editing.
“I don’t wanna hear your wet feet slaps.” Always facts.
Sometimes Jack uploads… but when he does… it’s life changing
Aaaah yes, I love seeing Sean playing horror games at 00:10 am
Same thing but at 2am :D who needs sleep?
@@Nifoxil not me XD
00:10 already implies AM… you don’t need to put both 🤣
@@theIaurenshow shhhhhhh, Idk why but I always use both of them 😂

"there was a silhouette of a man dancing"
Skaddamush! Skaddamush! Will you do the fandango!
I also love how the second game is a classic creepy pasta.
33:25 that metal gear game over was hilarious "Jaaaaaaaack-king off"
Metal Gear and Spongebob references in one video. This is why Sean is peak entertainment. Love it.
Fr, Jack's editors are top tier!!
7:48, I spilled my wine. Thanks, Sean!
That got me so baddd!! 😭😭😭
I jumped so bad lol
The cursed doujin was sitting next to the computer on the desk, and instantly put every fiber of my being in attack mode.
Was wondering if I was seeing things
I was looking for this comment! I thought I was seeing things, but it's actually metamorphosis
177013 haunts us
7:48 , i have not been scared by a video game jumpscare for a long time.. and the thing that scared me wasn't even from the game
28:50 "Hey, if you don't see me ever again, it's probably cuz I've died. Smiling."
33:20 "AHH he stabbed me in the left butt cheek!!" Screams, metal gear solid reference
The first smiling man game is the alternate path (but with some visual changes). There are other endings though. You got the shortest one: the good ending.
that Teke Teke jumpscare got me *so* good 😭😭
Thanks for warning me
Same. I literally felt startled by it before the video cut to an ad. The Smiling Man jumpscare also got me with how he was hiding behind the hedge.
i got home from work today and i thought to myself. "you know what would be rly nice rn..? some horror games with jacksepticeye for friday the 13th..." and what do you know, i look at my subscriptions and bam... a perfect friday afternoon.
and you’ve got your 13th like from me… have a spooky evening!
ty ty you as well@@ClydeOnPluto
Jack, your added narration in the last game was hilarious! I'm watching this at 5am, and woke the whole damn place up!!!
Jesus Sean you are a TREMENDOUS voice actor !!! Man it’s such an incredible skill of yours I enjoy it so much 😂😅
The editing and zooming in on Jack’s face after he gets jumpscared is just 🤌🏼🤌🏼 also I’m watching this, it’s storming in uk. It’s adding to the mood and my fear bar is 📈📈📈📈📈
It’s storming in the US too
How's the storm bro ??

Woah! That editing! Was very... Robin-like! Nervly... New name, I see. And with such an entrance... I look forward for more Sean's videos edited by Nervly now.
I may have to explore their channel now
The runes&scape style intro was 10/10
Runescape was my fuckin JAM when i was a teenager so i kinda got too excited when i saw jacksepticeye used it in a video 😅
@@snacc_size I got blasted with nostalgia when o saw it. I was like "hold up . . . . . I know this" then that angelical theme from the menu started playing in my head!
Yes. I loved playing it when I was younger. I remember the knockoff game that was just the game without membership.
I still play osrs, just got 2nd 99 today
@@colefisher4365 wave2: gratz!!!!!
The Teke Teke jumpscare got me. First time in a long time i audibly shouted from fear and shock. Good one.
0:45 I wasn't sure if Seán meant Unity (the game engine) or Unity (the corporation who owns the former), but Seán's «Fears to Fathom Episode 4» video made it clear, so I'll just paste a condensed version of what I said there: I just want to clarify for anyone who sees this that the problem isn't the engine or the developers using Unity, heck, not even the developers of Unity did anything wrong as far as I know... The problem was the CEO, along with pressure from investors, and miscellaneous corporate bs. There are so many great indie developers making awesome games using Unity - please don't drag them down because the CEO of a tool they're using f'ed up. 💚
I love watching Sean play these small scary games
For those keen of the eyes, Jack has actually already seen an adaptation of the smiling man, but in short film form, in his Scariest Videos On The Internet #8! Both the game and the film are actually almost 1 to 1 the exact same, down to the order of events and poses and clothes, only there isn't really a backstory to the film and the endings are different.
THAT'S why i recognized it. The game was creepy but the short film was way scarier
we love when sean plays 3 scary games🙌🏼
Jack: Made with Unity, BOO BOO. No one likes Unity anymore!
Dani: *And I took that personally*
The smiling man kinda reminds me of a reddit post i saw during the pandemic but at the end the smiling man wasn't smiling anymore
"who know you could be in your bed watching jacksepticeye videos..." IM DOING JUST THAT AT 10 AT NIGHT
How did Sean not realise the smiling dancing man is based off the same short film he watched lol
Thank you I was searching for this comment. I was painfully hopefully he’d remember that short we watched in his scary videos series
Yes, I remember this as well. I’m just unsure where I watched it
I was searching for this, I knew I wasn’t the only one who noticed
I made the same comment, but found yours and deleted mine. Thank goodness cause I thought i imagined watching it.
technically, that short film is based off a creepypasta originally, which is what the text bits in this are taken from!
Jack should do another "Reacting to scary videos" since we need more short horror film reactions!!!
30:28 scared the bejesus out of me too 🤣
Loved the Halloween narration in the beginning! 🎃😁
Also I knew I saw something related to the Smiling Man on your channel before. That's a really creepy story. I wonder what would happen if you just mirror his behaviour, smile at him and also dance creepy. 😄
Also really liked the voice you gave Lupin! That's some real voice acting skills! 🙌
Can't wait for more spooky content, it's the best season of the year! 🎉😌👻
Super excited to see Jack playing scary games to make the spooky season more fun. Also, it's so cute and adorable to see Sean call Gabby up and ask how to pronounce Teke teke.
They're the coolest couple ever, happy almost Halloween you two 🎃🎃🎃🕷️🕸️🕷️👻👻👻👻🦇🦇🦇
Jack sounding like courage the cowardly dog in the first game when he seen it run across the area in the background 😄
Dude I thought that I was like damn tha things I do fah love 🙄
Gab is so great! I love watching her channel, too.
7:48 That actually made me jump, my hearts pounding 💀
You and Evelien’s interactions just warms my heart💛
Ah, perfect oktober, Jack and horror games. Love when he play these kind of short spooky games. Especially that Smiling Man got under my skin, so scary.
