Nice video, Bill. I lived right near Somphet Market/Amora Hotel for a few years a while back. I still live in Thailand and it's really nice to see how things are now.
I also kept my USA bank account active for my Social Security. The transfer fees are well worth the trouble of having to go to the bank for something so basic.
wow, so that one fellow gets to have a wife stay in the states while he lives in Thailand and has girlfriends over here. Then he is able to have his wife come over and bail him out. That is an amazing set up.
I'm in Colorado for the next couple weeks and I got Taco Bell once. It was $15 for 3 items. Taco Bell was never great but it was a guilty pleasure and always cheap. Not anymore! I think I'll get my annual fix in Chiang Mai now.
yeah, agreed, use to be able to get stuff for $1, and now the prices are crazy, got a burrito and it was nearly $7. I can wait another year or two before I get another.
I have my SS deposited in America and every two months I write a personal check into my bank here. You have to wait for the check to clear but it's cheaper than a transfer because you aren't charged a percentage of the money but a fixed deposit charge that stays the same regardless of the amount. I could do it every month but every two months is just a single service charge of about 500B. for 4000. US dollars. If the amount was 100,000.USD the deposit charge would still be 500B...
When I first came here a one-hour massage was 80B. everyone complained and stopped going when the prices rose. Massage used to be very popular and the shops were all full when they were affordable. Now it's a tourist thing, they drove prices up, and now Thais and people with limited income are priced out, there are better ways to spend 300b...

The US has a big consulate in CM and they are even building a new one. If they not help their citizens, what's the use of it.
Ask myself that as well , 260 million worth
Sawadee krap fellow Floridian, from Ayutthaya Thailand 🙏
Bill, not sure if your aware ......but there is a clicking sound while you are walking -its quite annoying.....lense cover or something?

@@UTCM blah it's the same price then in Thailand. Taco Bell is now a special treat. The Demolition Man movie predicated this in 1993. 😂
The massage girl spoke very good English, it's unusual, perhaps she has a boyfriend from England or USA ?
I dont know really could be a number of things ..
I'm an avid coffee drinker I grind the beans myself, I think it provides a better flavor than ground coffee 🙂🙏✝️
I use to do that as well

Do those massage places at the end offer more than a massage or are they legit? The women there seem pretty nice.
