This was a great reality piece and impressive. There is another side to poker that is not glitz and glam. It's not all world poker tour easy money total freedom do what I want cellophane candy. It also has losses, long grueling sessions, bad beats, compulsive gambling, swings, and variance. Not to mention bad sleep cycles and sometimes other vices. I hope others appreciate this video for what it was, the brutal honesty of cold reality as a poker player. Great stuff Andrew. Cheers!
I think (like most things) compulsive gambling is a continuum. I've known a lot of poker pros and successful and degen are not mutually exclusive - it's all about the ratio.
Probably should of not used the word "compulsive" gambling. Everyone has a different idea of what it means. I just meant probably more like the addiction of the thrill or excitement of it. But...just some thoughts.
Well said, it's not all glitz n glam living in Vegas no matter what game you like to play, it's tough living here mentally n physically. Damn good advice if you're thinking on moving here.
Good point, The Superdaniel1970, Compulsive gambling or problem gambling encompasses another level of pain with unfortunately human destruction. Good comment though.
Much respect with your *brutal* honesty on your hand summaries. I both laughed and cried at your pair or 9s loss to the unintentional slow roller of Q7. Absolutely appreciate your authenticity. You never tilt bro = much respect. So hoping to run into you on my many Vegas trips.
Just a little advice, when someone says "You got it." your response should be "Then muck your hand.". And despite what Phil Hellmuth thinks it is not proper poker etiquette for the person who called the river bet to show their hand first. You could have saved a 2k pot by simply suggesting to the player to muck his hand. Consequently if the aggressor on the river mucks their hand you have no obligation to turn over your hand as the caller. It would have worked out better for you.
I have been slow rolled too many times and I tell them that. I say, "I'm sure I have the best hand but I don't want to be slow rolled so if you could either show your hand or muck it, then I will show mine."
I disagree. There's a downside to insisting. If you've got a read on a player that they bluff too many rivers, you don't want to shame them. You're just encouraging them to stop bluffing. And if anyone else is paying attention, they might refrain from bluffing you on the river also. You'll have your share of rivers where all you can beat is a bluff, why narrow their ranges? Unless you are specifically targeting someone to tilt them. I'm with Andrew on this point of etiquette.
Don't really understand your point here. He's not saying to force the bluffer to show his hand. He's saying force the bluffer to muck his hand. In most cases, the moment a player says "you got it" in those instances, it means he was effectively bluffing. So the whole table knows he was bluffing. Him mucking his hand afterwards doesn't give the table any more or less information, nor is it more "shameful" to the bluffer. Everybody knows he bluffed by what he said. I agree with not forcing the player to show his hand, because that will induce him to bluff less in the long run. But there is a middle ground, and its waiting for that player to muck. I don't mind the concept of giving a player in a 5/10 game the benefit of the doubt of knowing what his holding is and when to say such things, but as this vlog proves, you can't just make that assumption. The 5/10 game still has plenty of clueless players who simply have deeper pockets.
"He's not saying to force the bluffer to show his hand." William Stickroe didn't but John Yahnig did -- I thought I replied to Yahnig, but maybe I missclicked? "Everybody knows he bluffed by what he said." That's true, but what they were bluffing with makes a difference to some bluffers. I'm not sure if it is shame or meta-game strategy or whatever, but some bluffers are *really* reluctant to show a bluff or to show what they were willing to chase with.
Yea, "force" is a strong word. I ask/suggest they show or give them the option to verify and fold. It is funny this came up last night. I'm straddling the button $5 and the SB calls dark, Middle Position raises to $30 and says, "Because you called dark" and it folds to me and I look down and see AA and raise to $75. SB folds and the MP raiser asks "why did you do that?" and I state "because you raised, his dark call" and laugh. He thinks and seems troubled and then calls. The flop is 5s 8s 2h and he shoves for $240. I look down and see the As and I call. The turn is an offsuit 10 and the river is another 2. He looks at me and says, "I don't have anything". I have the gut wrenching feeling he is going to slow roll me BUT because of this thread, I roll over my cards and he looks back, looks back at the board, looks at his hand and just complains that I also had the A of spades and I scoop the pot. Maybe because being slow rolled is my biggest pet peeve, I act this way but I really didn't want to show until he did.
bro all this to get back to normal patterns of sleep.........but your here commenting to responses at 1am .........I luv it this gave me many flashbacks of the all night grind sessions back in the day it was so great to be stuck and get unstuck and stuck again but at the end of the day I would light up for a 420 session and just think about everything that happened and mentally relive every situation and be happy I was able to go for it again and I'm happy to see you finally are human and you do run into variance because you have been killin it for quite some time.......las vegas is calling soon will look forward to playing and running into these great players you lust to get into pots with. til next vlog
You might like to hear this but I've found myself mass watching tons of your vids. Theres nothing "over the top" about them but Im really enjoying their chill nature and getting a glimpse into the life of someone pursuing their dreams, while being helpful at the same time. Great stuff! Keep em coming ^_^
Even though you have taken out the live game play of your vlog I still have to say you put together one of if not the best poker vlog. Definitely the best hand break down and thought process. Still looking forward to seeing you on Live At the Bike. Thanks for the good content Andrew.
It's not like he "took out the live play" to annoy you. He was asked by that cardroom not to take video at the table. What, you want him to be thrown out of and banned from Bellagio so you can see hole cards?
Then why lead with that complaint? Unless, you are trying to say people should stop complaining about it, in which case, my bad. Your initial wording sounds like a complaint, you gotta admit.
A rule I want to add to poker, and I have talked about this for a while: if someone says "you're good" or "you win" after action is complete their hand is dead, just the same as putting it in the muck. I've lost shit like that before. And it makes you sick to your stomach.
Just wana say thanks for the videos in the last month or two I have been grinding away! After 3 years of giving the game away!!! I'm now playing better then ever so thanks!! it's all because of your videos to get me back into it cheers 🍻
Great video, great format, and very good player who needs no staking from now,as i and many others learn from you. AND now i can go to bed finally with many others now that video was uploaded for our watching.listening and learning pleasures.Great job it means alot to numerous of us out here.
probably the best feeling in poker, hitting quads+ and watching people bet into you lol. thanks for another good video, I'll be in Vegas this Sunday for a little over a week, hopefully I'll run into you at the Bellagio 2-5 or 5-10 games, so I can thank you in person.
That's happened to me. You make the right read, but the player misread his hand. It's very frustrating, but the only consolation is knowing that your read was right. Thanks again for doing this vlog. I really enjoy it. And I know how much time it takes to do the editing, so kudos.
Slow rolls will happen... As well as quads and the whole gamut of possibilities in a game. Playing with a educated drunken reprobate last night who was hitting every possible hand. I opted to avoid pots with him with marginal holdings I had. Whole table was on tilt. Was an interesting dynamic to watch. I had doubled up early and for the last two hours was merely a spectator. There's a feng shui to poker without trying to sound superstitious. Everyone is going to have their luck and bouts of run bad and run amazing. The game mirrors life and keeping even keeled is pretty much the key to good decisions. It was great to see your recovery and really helps reinforce my game even when i am in the middle of some run bad. I use your vlog as a primer for success.
Well said. I saw something like that a long while back. A drunk jerk must have had a dozen lucky horseshoes and four-leaf clovers for breakfast, because he could not lose a hand, no matter what he played. Put the whole table on tilt.
I would love to buy that shirt. By the way you inspired a young south Florida kid to improve his poker skills. Now playing at 2/5 at my local casino and biggest win so far was $4560 pretty favorable I'd say!
Night shift is no joke. I work in radiology, the night shift, and it blows. Also going to school to get my MBA at the same time just to get out of working during the nights. Trust me, its not healthy to consistently work the graveyard shift. Love the vlogs, keep'em coming.
I praise you for keeping a smile on your face, running bad these last couple days and too see you lose 1150 and still smile, that's dope, keep up the good content
I know its dumb and maybe its harder to do in some casinos, but I enjoy the table camera a lot. Makes you feel more involve, almost interactive. Love the channel.
Flop....IS............FAVOURABLE!!! I must have watched minute 21.00 at least 50 times. Delivery is unreal. Another great episode, totally hooked on watching your vlog. P.S happy to help with a few pointers on the golf swing!
Keep em coming, Andrew. Love your vids...and keep coming with the hand analysis. I feel like when I'm playing in my local 1/3 game I always think "What Would Andrew Do?"
WOW, man.. deliberate or not, I don't think I could've kept playing after that slow roll situation. I would have just been in a furious daze. so much respect for being able to keep going after that.
Andrew, Great video, good storyline, and I'll have to check out the grand patio. The accidental slow roll reminds me of a TV poker hand several years ago between Phil Helmuth vs TJ Coutour. TJ bet big on the river when a flush hit the board. Phil tanked for a bit and called. TJ said he missed, and then realized he had the flush. Phil said the reason he called was because he read TJ as weak. Ironically, it was a tourney being televised right after the Superbowl. As far as the sleep schedule, the problem is I suspect the best games are 7PM - about 1AM. Not great for relationships and quality of life in general.
from down 6k to -1.2k...nice come back. The late night grind though painful can be awfully rewarding and can certainly beckon back to the old days when it seemed every session was a winner with incredibly huge multi-way pots b4 folks actually understood the nuances of the game. One generally doesn't find that type of action any longer especially in the day light hours....~ "pretty favorable" for the guys ~ "Pretty and Favorable" for the ladies hoodies.
Keep up the good work Andrew I love your channel and also Brad's I know you are close friends if either one of you all ever catch a good break in a main event tournament or high limit tournament you all will go far in the poker world I'm not a very good chip Handler and I'm not one of the most comfortable players playing in the cash games at the casino but I've watched enough of your all's videos and Coach sessions that I do know how to play the game ...I know all of the odds so I have a tendency to win a lot of cash games I mainly play over at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and I've played in a total of about 30 cash games and 29 have cashed out ahead thank you all for all that you've taught me....
Enjoyed the vlog as usual. Since I've been hooked on your vlog, I've been looking for others. Some of them are okay. Others are dreadful. I've not subscribed to any of them but yours. Keep up the good work!
Awesome vlog as usual. You're doing something right when your audience feels invested in your losses. Nailing a read and getting counterfeited by obliviousness while stretching a session on little sleep is a Greek tragedy. Too bad it hadn't happened at Caesars.
Wow! Epic session. been there done that. I've actually done that for about 11 days straight! boy do I miss those days. Cant wait till May. Truly appreciate your videos.
I appreciate the vlogs, I watch them several times, and while I don't agree entirely with some of your strategy I learn things that have helped me in my games. Would love to see more PLO. I play in a crazy 25-25 game (200 BB max). Best wishes.
As usual very nice vlog, coming back home after 10 months in the Persian Gulf. couple of us gather to watch your videos. (hopefully they havent t catch us of guard)
I like how positive you stay, even when losing those big hands. My and many others biggest weakness haha Makes it fun to listen to, especially your quads hand (((((: Subbed
Thanks for video. Get some sleep dude! One thing I can learn from watching your vlog, is how to be more composed when a session is on a losing variance. Notably, you recovered well enough to hit the front and I probably would have been tempted to book a win, but then only you can judge the players left and how focussed you were at the time.
Hi Andrew Neeme, I enjoy watching your channel, good content. my question is how do you remember all hands, opponents hands, card runouts and positions when you make the video? do you write it all down while you playing or how do you keep track of everything?
what a sick slow roll. Probably unintentional in which case you made the perfect call based on your read but picked the absolute worst hand to go with your read. great vlogs Andrew
Tough booking. Really enjoy the honesty of posting up/down videos. Hope it swings back up soon! I know it's tough but next time when you in the grind that long, try to leave even if up $30. I usually just dump it all into a nice dinner haha full stomach always makes a small win feel like a robbery :)
Marathon Sesh when down and you get back + you gotta roll dude. 15+ hours you just can't continue with correct decision making. love the vlogs. GL. Hope your sleep was pretty favorable.
I just want to say that in the Q7 hand, his bet sizing on the turn makes me think he knew what he had. He c-bets 50 on the flop, which as you said is a weak-ish balancing of his range type of bet that is designed to cheaply see another card while maintaining the lead. When he makes top pair on the turn he makes a bet 4x bigger than his last probing one. I've played with a lot of ameteurs over many years, and when they barrel and get there in some way, they tend to oversize their bets as a way to merge their range. I know ameteurs aren't given much credit for forethought regarding their bets, but in this case as with the many examples I've seen, he knows he made a hand but he really doesn't know where he stands. His small bet on the flop is indicitive of him knowing queen high is not good, but once he hits the queen he amps the bet up to TRY see where he is. Its clear he didn't know where he was in the hand at any point, beyond knowing WHAT his hand was. When he gets called on all 3 streets, including the all in, he's embarressed to have played Q7 the way he did and just assumes its no good if he got called (since its really hard to be good the way the betting went down and the size of the pot) I believe once he saw your 9's he realized he won and did a bad acting job to pretend he didn't know, but he knew. sorry for the long post, but I felt the need to share my opinion based on my experince. I know its pure conjecture and makes a few generalizations about "ameteurs", but I believe the logic is there and I wanted to share. (rhyme much? lol) oh, and keep up the great work man! The pendulum of variance will swing back the other way soon enough!
Cant believe that first guy bet out with Q7 and threw a c bet. Too bad you couldn't fleece him. I have a hard time believing the rec guy really did make a mistake, why would he make a small bet on the flop and then almost a pot size bet on the turn with K7? On the river, I think he was afraid of the flush, but felt like he had to go for it. When you called he figured you had it until he saw your cards. Then he had to make an excuse to save face. Don't think he meant to slow roll, but he knew his hand. Love the quads! Always a good feeling when you can get that on the flop. Another great vlog! Keep it up! BTW, how's your mom doing? Back ok?
Love your content Andrew, im a 1/3 grinder here in Melbourne. I have been playing for a while and doing OK. This is a random question, what part of the day/night do you find to be fishiest? Also how long do you usually grind per session? i know there are alot of variables in both these questions, but a rough answer would be appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good stuff!
Why do you invite players to slowroll you? If they made a move on me and I call, i would insist they show first or fold. Despite if they are 100% sure "i got it"
Hi Andrew, Love the vlogs, Excellent content, Excellent production = Great Stories. I have a question when you got unstuck on the quad 5's hand, why didn't you walk away? Not necessarily straight away but soon after?
Hi Andrew! Great vid as usual! Fatigue is a big enemy to the game. I've learned that the hard way too. Question: What editing software do you use for your videos?
Well done Andrew, glad to see you won with that super dooper 5555 Quados! I was so happy for you there to see you win, yippee. I bet that felt so good man!
Another great breakdown of your plays and decision making! Speaking of your plays, how do you remember all those interesting hands with such details? Do you take notes at the table? Thank you for your time and effort in creating these videos. Now get yourself some good rest. BTW your eyes did not look that bad considering how long you were up.
All that time put in and struggle just to loose. I hate when that happens. The best is when you sit down and the cards and flops just match up. But these type of days are what make you a real poker player. Good to see you grind
"we go heads up to a flop....flop...is.......FAVORABLE" probably the best 3 seconds of your whole Vlog LOL and I second a previous comment I would buy a favourable t-shirt/hat/hoody dude you are missing out on extra revenue streams here come on! Keep em coming man

I didn't think it came across negative. Got nothing but positive vibes going towards Andrew. And anyone else watching these awesome vlogs.
It didn't this guy just has a stick up his ass.
Really enjoy these vids helps a young player(myself) to not feel overwhelmed by the thought of a losing night among other insights you share with us.
"You need to understand everything you do at a poker table conveys information"
Hit like if you got that ad
Glad to see another video so soon! Keep up the favorable vlogs Mr. Neeme, congrats on 35k subs!
You do a great job with your videos!! Love watching and learning! You are the best poker vlogger on RUclips and the only one I watch! Keep it up!
Thanks!

Love when I'm looking thru my feeds and I see a rack of chips! I know who it is at a first glance!
Derrill Hiott same here lol
probably the best feeling in poker, hitting quads+ and watching people bet into you lol. thanks for another good video, I'll be in Vegas this Sunday for a little over a week, hopefully I'll run into you at the Bellagio 2-5 or 5-10 games, so I can thank you in person.
Chris White did you?
My jaw seriously dropped at that 99 hand story. I was so into the tell description and everything those few minutes that I did not expect that!
That's happened to me. You make the right read, but the player misread his hand. It's very frustrating, but the only consolation is knowing that your read was right.
Thanks again for doing this vlog. I really enjoy it. And I know how much time it takes to do the editing, so kudos.
i just got a smile on my face seeing that you just uploaded a video :)
When I flop trips I always think in my head " I just Andrew Neeme'd the flop" LOL
Now there's the makings for a drinking game. Take a shot every time the flop is favorable on the vlog.

Great Vlog

Ok I'll get to work on it.
Franky4 Fingers that's a sick idea actually, u mind if I'll invest in the idea???
Run good?
Franky4 Fingers haha I'd support that
I would love to buy that shirt. By the way you inspired a young south Florida kid to improve his poker skills. Now playing at 2/5 at my local casino and biggest win so far was $4560 pretty favorable I'd say!

'Flop is FAVOURABLE!' hahah, keep up the great work Andrew.
I know its dumb and maybe its harder to do in some casinos, but I enjoy the table camera a lot. Makes you feel more involve, almost interactive. Love the channel.
Would always utilize it if I could, unfortunately most casinos in Vegas look down upon it for now.
Played a 25 hour home game, won £1. Felt amazing. Keep up the good fight, Andrew, you're enthusiasm for life and the game is refreshing.
BigM dope af story holme slice

bro, just started to watch your vlogs, definitely helped my out this weekend in vegas! played 2/5 for the first time and left +$800!
Nice one mate. 👊🏼
WOW, man.. deliberate or not, I don't think I could've kept playing after that slow roll situation. I would have just been in a furious daze. so much respect for being able to keep going after that.
I appreciate your effort to create these vblogs even after losing sessions, and people slow rolling you, most people would be pissed off.
Andrew posting these on a friday really get us pumped for the weekend!

IDK what it is about your vlogs, youre not that entertaining of a human being but I love them all for some reason. Keep it up!!
Haha, thanks Gertrude.
Keep up the good work Andrew I love your channel and also Brad's I know you are close friends if either one of you all ever catch a good break in a main event tournament or high limit tournament you all will go far in the poker world I'm not a very good chip Handler and I'm not one of the most comfortable players playing in the cash games at the casino but I've watched enough of your all's videos and Coach sessions that I do know how to play the game ...I know all of the odds so I have a tendency to win a lot of cash games I mainly play over at Harrah's Cherokee Casino and I've played in a total of about 30 cash games and 29 have cashed out ahead thank you all for all that you've taught me....
take a look at my eyes... guess what strain im puffing
just kidding. this is one of the best editions of the vlog yet man. keep it up!
I don't even play poker but I subbed and have watched everyone of your videos, great content!
Thank you!
Always helpful to have some daily quads!
Best title for a poker Vlog, ever.
Agreed, meant to comment on that too. DAFT PUNK!
Loved the "favorable" flop running joke :) keep going andrew!
"Flop ...is ... FAVOURABLE! flop is FIVE FIVE FOUR... rainbow" :D :D I love this!
Andrew,
Hey, Thanks for another great VLOG!! I really enjoy the 20 something minute length. I always thought your vlogs were too short!!
This was a nice treat at 4:30am. Always enjoy your vlogs. I've also heard "flop is favorable" many times at the poker tables in my local casinos.
Enjoyed the vlog as usual. Since I've been hooked on your vlog, I've been looking for others. Some of them are okay. Others are dreadful. I've not subscribed to any of them but yours. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Joe!
Awesome vlog as usual. You're doing something right when your audience feels invested in your losses. Nailing a read and getting counterfeited by obliviousness while stretching a session on little sleep is a Greek tragedy. Too bad it hadn't happened at Caesars.
Slow roll, quads, insanely long session .. man that was one for the ages 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Wow! Epic session. been there done that. I've actually done that for about 11 days straight! boy do I miss those days. Cant wait till May. Truly appreciate your videos.
9:10. QQ always the rake! I seem to always run into an over-pair when I have QQ!
I appreciate the vlogs, I watch them several times, and while I don't agree entirely with some of your strategy I learn things that have helped me in my games. Would love to see more PLO. I play in a crazy 25-25 game (200 BB max). Best wishes.
Enjoy your videos and analysis. How do you remember all the hands so vividly? Do you take notes at the table?
As usual very nice vlog, coming back home after 10 months in the Persian Gulf. couple of us gather to watch your videos. (hopefully they havent t catch us of guard)
Cool, thanks man. Tweet me a pic of the viewing party next time.
Love your videos dude, keep em coming!
I like how positive you stay, even when losing those big hands. My and many others biggest weakness haha Makes it fun to listen to, especially your quads hand (((((:
Subbed
Here you are talking about the importance of a good sleep schedule, and I'm watching this at 2AM lol :(
That's a classic answer and true as can be,goodnight all.
Nick Warnock I tried at 4, his voice put me to sleep. it's like Morgan Freeman taking me on a ride in the clouds lol
Andrew, you and jaman use the best music out of all the poker bloggers
Man your channel is getting huge!
First thing I do when I go on youtube is to check for Andrew's new videos.
Really enjoy your vlogs. Great editing and commentary. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Robert.
always lovin your vlogs man. keep up the good work! cheers from the cold Netherlands
Andrew, great vlog format and content. I am your new poker friend from Canada. Keep going!
Andrew going into a long session what do you do to prepare and last? Whats do you eat/how often do you take breaks if you werent filming/ etc.
Hi Andrew.
How on earth do you manage to remember hands through a monster session. My mind goes blank after a few hands back!
Back ok?
Sean Kelley I agree with ya. Dude was probably tryna save face by saying he misread his hand (not speaking from experience of course lol).
I’m sure he was putting Andrew on a bigger queen.
amazing video andrew! keep killing it
Love your content Andrew, im a 1/3 grinder here in Melbourne.
I have been playing for a while and doing OK.
This is a random question, what part of the day/night do you find to be fishiest?
Also how long do you usually grind per session? i know there are alot of variables in both these questions, but a rough answer would be appreciated.
Thanks and keep up the good stuff!
Excellent vlog, really enjoy the way you break down the hands
1st to say I know this is gonna be a banger video. will comment again at the end. keep grinding
Been watching your vlogs for the last month or more. Keep up the good work man. Flop quads all day!
Why do you invite players to slowroll you? If they made a move on me and I call, i would insist they show first or fold. Despite if they are 100% sure "i got it"
SidViciousEntertainment He doesn't want to piss off the rec players so that they leave.
Why do you want to embarrass a rec player by making them show their bad hand?
Hi Andrew, Love the vlogs, Excellent content, Excellent production = Great Stories. I have a question when you got unstuck on the quad 5's hand, why didn't you walk away? Not necessarily straight away but soon after?
Hi Andrew! Great vid as usual! Fatigue is a big enemy to the game. I've learned that the hard way too. Question: What editing software do you use for your videos?
Premiere Pro.
by the looks of your eyes i would of thought right after 4:20
Well done Andrew, glad to see you won with that super dooper 5555 Quados! I was so happy for you there to see you win, yippee. I bet that felt so good man!
That slow roller sounds like a drunk tourist. Unreal. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the vlog.
Another great breakdown of your plays and decision making! Speaking of your plays, how do you remember all those interesting hands with such details? Do you take notes at the table? Thank you for your time and effort in creating these videos. Now get yourself some good rest. BTW your eyes did not look that bad considering how long you were up.
best ep yet, drewdog
Keep on grinding dude. I love your content!
All that time put in and struggle just to loose. I hate when that happens. The best is when you sit down and the cards and flops just match up. But these type of days are what make you a real poker player. Good to see you grind
Really enjoy your videos, well made and informative! Thank you!
"we go heads up to a flop....flop...is.......FAVORABLE" probably the best 3 seconds of your whole Vlog LOL and I second a previous comment I would buy a favourable t-shirt/hat/hoody dude you are missing out on extra revenue streams here come on! Keep em coming man
This is maybe the first time I've heard the words "grocery shopping" and "action" in the same sentence.
Hey Andrew. Your videos are great, look forward to new vlogs and thanks again!
Love the poker vlogs have a great night of sleep man
I remember those type of sessions. Starting Saturday at 8 or 9pm and ending Sunday at 5 or 6 pm. Taj Mahal AC in the mid 2000s was poker heaven.
when you thumbs up a video before you watch :) because you are excited to watch
