    I like the line, repping the flush. Seems like a bad call for him to make (not in hindsight, obviously) but it's probably a profitable bluff long term for you. I know I'm folding to that line with 2 pair...

    Happy belated birthday! Hope going out with friends was fun! I've been watching the vlogs since October and can't get enough of them. Could you incorporate some poker basics into a vlog such as poker positions, what each position means and their effects on play. On a different note even talk about how you combat tilt or share fun poker moments that involve tilted players. Thanks again!

    Happy Birthday belated!
    I'm sort of new to the channel but really enjoying it. I grew up in Vegas and the son and nephew of guys who made a decent side hustle playing poker down town for many years. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately I never got into the game. I moved away to the Phoenix area at 26 to start my career. After 11 years in my field I fell sick and now disabled. Spent a few years stuck in a bed then a wheelchair but mostly on my feet now. I don't look sick but many days I just can't get out of the house. Anyhow a few years ago started taking a interest to cards and trying to learn to get better at it. I've done decent online but I now live 35 min away from Laughlin and was told by a few folks that there's only a few die hard locals in those games but mostly retired old men and California tourist. I've only tested the waters but I'm hoping to improve my live game. You're videos have inspired me!

      Andrew Neeme poker related question for you. how do you deal with the ranges of live 1/2 at the local casinos here people play super loose i tend to run into a lot of random two pair hands like 9 4 ect.. even when i throw in a re raise pre flop. is there a way to spot these sort of tough spots especially when you hit like ace with king kicker vs random two pair combos.

    • @rawrtid
      @rawrtid 7 лет назад +1

      may i ask where in canada you are? i am in london ontario and i am just curious. Referring to your poker question above i would say the re-raises or initial raises just have to be larger

    • @AndrewNeeme
      @AndrewNeeme  7 лет назад +2

      You can just keep betting until they let you know that you're beat. The problem is sometimes people overvalue hands that are worse than yours. So you just have to expect some variance, only play good hands, and never bluff. (Do as I say, not as I do, if you saw my last video...) Agree size a little bigger when you have good hands. Keep increasing the sizing as long as you can get away with it.

    best vid yet! the last hand..... which hands fold to the all in bet representing a flush? Any single pair folds. any flush or straight calls. trips or two pair calls most of the time depending on the player. so what did you think he had? check raise flop followed by $500 on the turn is definite strength.... however the chip motion check on the river sounds interesting. obviously implies hes worried about the flush, opening up the bluff play. however the bluff flush play may have been slightly overvalued. likely half the hands in his range will find a call to the bluff. so actual odds of winning when calling the turn are more like 28%. so 3:1 return on the turn
    with 28% chance of victory is probably where id be able to find the fold. although easy to say from here i know haha... thanks for sharing that one and loved having more hands to analyse in this video.

    Second note and most important is, I'd like to say that I've actually learned a lot from your channel. Thing is, I used to play here n there at greektown and I was profitable to the tune of a cpl hundo here n there and u know they have like a 200$ cap on buy ins so not too bad but. What you've taught me is strategy , instead of me always thinking my opponent has the nuts all the time. When u get a show and they roll over ace king when you have a set etc, before u was like wow only AK, but watching a lot of poker lately I see its not too uncommon. So thanks for all I have learned from your channel so far, and to a future of such! Happy belated aswell

  • @X_Paul_X

    Far far better play in this episode than last in my opinion! I think it's a shame your opponent in the last hand wasn't a better player or he would have folded to your good bluff! Still booking a win after losing 2K in 1 hand is impressive!
    Really enjoy your vlogs and appreciate the open, honest description of your play, good or bad, winning or not! I'm sure many of us would love to be able to do what you do for a living, but realise we aren't equipped to manage. Great to share your experiences via RUclips! :0)

    Andrew, I mostly agree with the way that you played both hands. When you provide these hand histories, I love that you provide both sides of the argument. You go through reasons to fold, and reasons to call/raise. Most of the hand analysis I see are guys simply defending their decisions. Another reason why you're different, and you have the best poker vlog out there.
    Oh, and happy birthday!

  • @18000rpm
    @18000rpm 7 лет назад +26

    My thoughts on the 88 hand: on the turn you have to call $500 to win $1025. You win if you hit your straight (8 outs) or 'flush' (another 7 phantom outs) which is just about exactly your pot odds (ignoring set outs which you won't be sure if it's good). But there's significant reverse implied odds which is the flush card comes and he still calls you, in which case you lose $1750. So I'd just fold the turn and move on.

    • @BigDaddyGee85
      @BigDaddyGee85 7 лет назад +1

      i think it depends on what type of opponent you have in this spot. If you have just slightly the idea that he is money-scared in big pots or to big bets than you can go on with that turn call/ river shove/ ,,value" bet -line. Or the type of player which acts very technical in most situations, because he is more likely to make the ,,correct" fold on the river...but NEVER play that line to a ,,burning" donkey/calling station/ gambler...

    • @boojay7076
      @boojay7076 7 лет назад +2

      Your thoughts are amateur. If you play poker to make nutted hands, you will never win. You will only get lucky.

      I mentioned ignore set outs because if you hit your set the board will have 6789 are you sure you're good?

    • @BigDaddyGee85
      @BigDaddyGee85 7 лет назад

      18000rpm due to villians line in this case, i dont think its VERY likely he get to straights there often..but generally your point is valid of course!

  • @DarkMace86
    @DarkMace86 7 лет назад +1

    How did you determine that shoving the 8s is GTO? Is your range constructed well enough that it is not an over-bluff?
    Your opponent should also have flush draws in his range on the turn, meaning its better to not have a heart in your hand when calling the turn. Having both a heart and an 8 reduces the amount of bluffs (straight draws / flush draws) he has on the turn. I would argue that having a 9.7 or 6 on the turn, with no hearts, would be a better call then 8's, given you also block sets.
    As for the river, naturally having the 8h reduces the amount of combos of flushes your opponent has (as well as nut straights). I don't mind the shove, but i am curious as to whether you are saying "gto line" as a catchphrase to compare to "exploit", or you actually have counted combos by street and have a 2:1 ratio of value to bluffs on river, where 8's factors into the bluff portion well enough.

      Just a thought for the places you cant video. Not sure what you are using now if it is obvious you are videoing, but if you need to be hiding that you are videoing, then buy a spy pen to video where you cant. They work great and can just have it on table videoing your hole cards. Or check out what other spy cams they have like in little figures that can sit on table and none will know. just a thought.

      People might want to send you stuff from Amazon, and I don't think UPS, FedEx or Amazon local will deliver to a P.O. Box. Might want to go to a UPS Store and get a box there, which will be a physical address (not a P.O. Box). They will receive all of your deliveries for you, including UPS, FedEx, etc.

    Happy Birthday Andrew. You are teaching me to think more about opponent range in a realistic way and definitely to broaden my opening raising range of hands. I have been opening more hands and re-raising with a wider range recently and it is helping my game in the few sessions I have done this in the last month. Not folding scared of big turn or over bets is a work in progress. As far as the bluff hand, pretty tough call for 2 pair. I usually always credit pot size turn bets and fold, I am trying to be less passive at the table, not a pro here. Appreciate the videos and the professional analysis, Peace.

    Andrew, love your vlog! Been playing many years same games but now I play in europe. This time I slightly disagreed your line on two spots: 1) 67dd. Really standard call pre those stack effects when one player behind who can have monster or like 89dd/Axdd? Is 4bet bluff possible here? Sure, stack effects are bad for that but it makes 3bet reg even harder time to call if you commit yourself/go straight AI. Your cards are always live when 3bet calls, cause AKdd is not possible so at max he can blog one D, right? 2) was not sure turn call profitability with 88. Many players 2017 5/10 Bellagio knows that calling pot on turn with only flush draw is not often profitable and if you have more like A8hh/86hh you could move in flop/turn. Because that, many do not believe easily when you call pot turn and bet big when most obvious draw comes on river. Just some thoughts, might be wrong ones. Anyhow, keep it coming, great stuff, great vibes!

    Question about hand #2 that you reviewed. Don't you think it would be better to just flat call on the flop, keep some bluffs in his range? There are a few bad turns for you but you have outs. If he has a 5 you keep him on the hook and maybe get another street a value. Just curious what your thoughts are as far as that goes.

    In the 8-8 vs 9-7s hand, this is just me personally, but I would have just checked river. He was obviously showing great strength on the flop and turn, so we know he's holding something decent. He likely was well aware of the fact that the heart was a perfect bluff card or he was just one of those donks who doesn't fold after investing so much into the pot; regardless, there's not many versions of him folding. The other hand when you were holding Q-Q, I absolutely agree that laying down on the turn was the right move. That small bet on the turned ace by the villain wreaked like spoiled meat; it was surely a value bet (I put him on aces full). You're still the man, Andrew. I really love and appreciate these vlogs. Looking forward to the next. -Jeff-

    Ex-online pro here. Used to 4-6table 3/6 4/8 HORSE (and its individual games) and was transitioning into badugi/8game until black friday. I've beaten live games up to 8/16 and right as i was transitioning to 20/40 life hit a bit too hard.
    Been motivated to get back after subbing. Thanks for the videos.
    That hand where your opponent had 9-7: He called because you gave off a vibe/aura/smelled of weakness. I'm certain your face/posture/breathing were not the same as if you had a flush. Even if the guy wasn't amazing at reading people, being right next to you raised enough suspicion to call.
    As far as the cardplaying aspect goes, there is very little - if anything - you can improve on.
    There is a method of meditative breathing that works really well when disguising hands / bluffing to reduce that heartrate. It takes a lot of practice, but when mastered you will find that you can almost jedi mind trick people into folding.
    Next time, as you bet, breathe and convince yourself you HAVE a flush. if you bet thinking "i hope he believes me", it gives off weakness. It's amazing how different you look betting with those two different mentalities. I wish practicing in a mirror would work, but it's not that simple.
    this is super hard to put into text but i hope my messege got across. I can forsee you reaching 25/50 within 3.5 years if you can just work on the "art" aspect of poker (poker face, image control, table talk, reads). I look forward to seeing those videos :)
    ps. I have an excellent game you can play vs your text group in order to improve your poker face/acting/heartrate when bluffing. if you think it'll help i'm more than glad to share

    About that flush draw bluff, do you think that you could have bet less (~$800) making it look more value-ish and got him to fold? My thought was because you put him all in, it polarized your range so much that he had to call… Thoughts?

    Re: the 88 hand. Not sure the rules in Vegas but can you show one card while he's in the tank? If so, would you think showing 8h would influence him to fold - implying Ah8h?

    On flops like the 76dd hand where you have a big combo draw I am of the mindset that its almost always better to raise (depending on stack sizes) because there are no mutually good turn cards. I.e. a flush/straight card may kill your action, a brick may hinder you from continuing. Your thoughts?

    Was hoping the other outcome in the 88 hand mate, as I would have played the exact same way. Although I would elect to check the flop some %. I think the best play is determined by the villain. If the villain is anyway good or playing scared money then I love the way you played it as it's tough for you to have a bluff and you're never betting worse. If your villain is terrible or a rec player/whale then just fold.
    Andrew - I'm going to vegas (from Australia) for the first time in June. Will play mostly 2/5. Where would you recommend playing?

    Andrew, great as always. Im hear in Tampa and we have the big college game tonight so there were a ton of visitors at the Hard Rock this weekend. I did great Friday and shitty Saturday and Sunday.
    I did a very similar line as your flush bluff twice, once with a flush and once with a pair of 9s on the board. Line seemed right, i thought my story was believable. But I got called twice and lost twice. Both times were to Clemson fans. Worst part is the hit and run, hit for $200 and then 20 mins later get up and leave. Not even enough time to play another pot with them. Although you still booked a win and I booked -50 for the weekend.
    Again thanks for the vlog and keep up the good work.

    Andrew, thanks a lot for the vlog. I really enjoy it. My personal opinion on the 88 is I would fold turn given that less likely we have implied odd with 4 cards straight on board. Regard bluffing opportunity u have around 20% of the time to bluff river (not to mention the unknown FE in this case). So given his pot bet sizing, with somewhat around 16% equity and the bluff opportunity, it should be a fold on turn

  • @chazzbranigaan9354
    @chazzbranigaan9354 7 лет назад

    Can you explain your logic on the combo draw hand? Flatting the flop seems much better to me. We have implied odds to call even if we don't get there and the turn and river go check check. Even if we brick turn and he bets depending on his sizing again we will likely have implied odds even if he never bets river when we get there. Raising the flop seems like it would make so many hands like middling pairs or a weak king fold that we could easily get another street of value from. It seems like one of those spots where only the very top of his range can continue and most of the rest has to fold. I get that we have 7 high but we have so much equity the times we don't get there by calling will lose us much less than we win when we get there. Overall I just think that we have a 2/3rd chance of improving to what's very very likely the best hand and a little under 1/3 of improving to what is going to be a fairly disguised absolute nuts by the river flatting just seems to make so much sense.

    Thanks for your reply andrew. I agree with the small sizing part. But checking river might actually be the best way for a flush to get value. Checking a flush adds nutty hands to his checking range, and can induce bluff. It's also hard for him to be paid if he fires the river. In this case, 3 barrels means flush or missed straight draw. chasing a straight draw on a flush draw board is unlikely to begin with, and turning a missed straight draw into a bluff, knowing your opponent can have flushes makes the whole thing more unlikely. So betting river means flushes, and your opponent cannot pay you off unless he has a high flush, which he will bet if checked to. Therefore, i think it's good to check his whole range here.

      @PapaCharlie9 7 лет назад +1

      Maybe, *maybe* 5/10 with a table full of regs can level a river flush situation like that, but for anything else, people don't like to fold and I'm value betting a made flush on the river every time. Consequently, I rarely try to turn a flush making river into a bluff, barring very unusual circumstances.

      does a flush draw really call a pot size bet on the turn very often though? putting it all together the story wouldnt make much sense to me and a call would be profitable. if Andrew had say a bottom set or even a straight very doubtful he bets river.

    • @StevieSparkZ
      @StevieSparkZ 7 лет назад +1

      sam Schuerman yes because what calls the huge turn bet and bombs river when checked to?

    Andrew, I think the line you took on the last hand was good and you know it was good because he thought he was paying you off. I try my best to only take lines like that against the players I know who are disciplined and able to let hands go for example good regs that I have witnessed make big lay downs and nits. I also keep tabs on them to be sure they are not emotionally compromised, for example maybe they have had a few bad beats during this session and have hit their threshold of misery. So as a standard I usually try to find better spots until I have more info on my customer. I am loving your Vlog Keep it up brother!
