    Thank you so much for this video! I bought a storage unit with beautiful mid century furnitures in them. The top finish of the dressers and buffet hutch have worn off and need to be refinished. Other than that they are still beautiful in my opinion and have listed them on Etsy. I don't do refinishing as I do not have any clue to do that and I do not have the time to learn. I am hoping that someone would fall in love with them as is and buy them from me lol! I almost gave them away and realized that I have undervalued them. The light bulb went off in my head and decided to try selling them on Etsy. This video helped me to just go list them! Thanks again!

    The cost of shipping varies based on people’s zip codes so how can you add the shipping onto the cost if you don’t know the exact price yet?

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  6 дней назад

      I add the price of what it would be to ship it from where I am to the furthest destination I could possibly ship it. That way I’m covered regardless of where it is. If a person places the order, then regardless of what the shipping cost is vs the price of the piece, it doesn’t matter. Because obviously the customer thought it was worth the price!

We can also set it to only sell in the US as well correct? What if you wanted to ship internationally. I think you could have it delivered to a shipping container shipping yard. I think I’d wrap/ pack the items just to be extra sure. Ever seen shipping wars? It’s a show of u ship people and sometimes things get damaged and slammed around. Definitely check it out. Hey there! Thank you for watching. For getting it shipped, I select the longest amount possible just so I have time to find someone through uship. but when it comes to how long it takes to get there once it ships, uship drivers are usually pretty reliable and you can specify in your uship listing when you need it delivered between and the drivers won't accept your shipment unless they know they can do it. I've been selling furniture locally for almost a year now. Even have pieces in higher end vintage stores. Never looked into shipping, I ship items for my ebay store all the time tho. My biggest concern is uship, item arrives damaged/broken or buyer wants a return.
    Have u had any experience like that?

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  2 года назад +4

      Not yet! Haha fingers crossed I never will! The people I’ve worked with always take great care of the items and pack them very well. I feel like the main damage you would find with uship (if any) is maybe damage to the paint from the straps being so snug or the wrap that they put on. But if you let your piece dry long enough (a week+) this shouldn’t be a problem. Uship also has an insurance option to cover your piece if it’s something you’re interested in. I also have an entire uship video breaking down the process and my thoughts on the service. Might be worth checking out too if it’s something you’re looking into

    So I'm still concerned about the shipping costs though. So if I have to ship a piece of furniture from where I live in Indiana, to Los Angeles for example, it could cost up to $600 for shipping. But what happens if someone wants to purchase it, and they happen to be from like 2 states over where the shipping is only $150-200? I was going to drive, but then discovered UShip. A husband and wife picked it up and brought it to me. They took such good care of it, and it only cost $200. Just my gas would have been more. Plus a hotel because it would have tsken me 2 days. I was thrilled!
      I do wonder with Uship how the delivery is coordinated. In remember there was quite a bit of back and forth between myself and my UShip driver before my delivery date and time window were confirmed. Do you end up being the monkey in the middle between UShip and your customer, or will UShip coordinate the delivery directly with your customer?

    Not sure if anyone has pointed this out; Etsy actually prohibits posting SOLD listings and can shut you down if you do. The TOU state that a listing can only be published if an item is available for sale and listings can't be created solely for the purpose of marketing. Had a friend shut down for this practice after 5 yrs. Even if you're unnoticed now, it can happen when you least expect it. You also didn't mention that the buyer and seller pay a fee to UShip so you actually are supporting a corporation who is in essence only functioning as a payment processor.

      Yes!! Uship gives you free estimates so you can take the measurements and approximate weight of your piece and they’ll give you a ball park on what it will cost. Choose a city that’s far away from you. For example, if you life in LA, choose New York. If you live in Texas, choose main or Washington. That way you get the most expensive rate possible just in case. Uship also gives you a scale where they show you the least amount someone has paid for similar shipments and the most amount. Make sure you use the average that they give you. Would it be helpful if I made a specific video for uship and how to use it with pricing?

    How much do you usually tack on to a piece so that you know shipping costs are covered?

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  3 года назад +2

      I’d put your listing on uship and they give you an estimate of what people usually pay for that sort of listing and then I tack on the highest amount

    This is soooo helpful! Do you know how to include u-ship in etsy settings for shipping profiles?

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  2 года назад

      I dont know if that’s an option. I just choose free shipping and include a uship estimate for shipping in the price of the piece. See my tutorial for uship for me details on that if you want :)

    Uship sounds like a bunch of unknown jobbers, much like thumbtack ... what can possibly go wrong? What about insurance?

    • @TheMissFlips
      @TheMissFlips  2 года назад +1

      Yes, it is like thumbtack. In my experience, the only thing that has gone wrong is them not picking it up. But you can see the ratings of the driver you accept an offer from and they do have an option for insurance

      @@TheMissFlips thanks for the response! Just out of curiosity, let's say your using Uship to send a piece of furniture from California to New York. How many times in your estimation will this change hands before it reaches its final destination? Have you actually shipped this type of distance with Uship?
      I greatly value your opinion and thank you in advance! 🙂

      @@frankv.2681 of course! Happy to help! I have shipped from Georgia to New York but never anything that far. I don’t think it switches hands at all. I think the purpose of uship is to find someone that’s driving from Cali to New York anyways so they pick up your piece and maybe a few others to help them get there.

      @@frankv.2681 I’ve always only had communication with one person throughout pickup and delivery. And it only gives you the reviews for the one person so it wouldn’t make sense that they would hand it off to an h knock halfway through. It makes them liable for anything that happens
