Do you have any idea how high your taxes would be without tourists? Your property taxes would be quadrupled, income tax would be 30-35%, sales tax would be 9%. So shut up and enjoy the benefits of great leadership that understands that tourism pay the bills of most of your state.
I went camping with my brother's boy scout troop and it was one of my favorite trips I went on. We camped at the primitive camp that is on the left after crossing the bayway bridge. It was a pretty decent size for a group site. You could see the sunshine skyway and there was a little beach for swimming and fishing.
The park does have a designated dog beach for those staying there, but North beach is incredible and hardly anyone walks to the end where you could almost have the day to yourself!
Grew up in Florida and been to most beaches, Jensen Beach, the bath tub of Stuart, Destin, Panama Beach, Siesta key, Holmes beach, along the keys, the fort in the most southern tip of the keys, clearwater beach, Mexico beach etc. Florida has the best beaches in the world based on what I have seen on the internet. Some great beaches in Tahiti esp. if you are a surfer like Teahupoo
I was there last weekend teaching a class. "Signs said no swimming, strong currents." Poison Ivy is also rife in the area, and mosquitoes. There is also a dog park and dog beach.
Vastly underrated. I could not agree more. If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy an amazing, natural, authentic Gulf Coast beach this is a must-visit. I spent a good bit of my teenage years windsurfing there and it’s always been one of my favorite places in the Bay Area.
Hey everyone. We got the chance to visit Fort De Soto today but couldn’t exit the car because of a major widespread mosquito infestation. Has anyone else run into that situation? 😅
The best way to enjoy all the beaches of Florida is by taking about 2 months off in your own boat and go from Jacksonville around the entire state to Pensacola and camp out on the beaches about two days per beach.
North Beach is by far my favorite in the Tampa/St. Pete area. A word to the wise though: if you venture into the brush watch out for poison ivy! I learned that the hard way many years ago! You just can't beat the beach itself!
One of my favorite beaches! North Beach was gorgeous and the fort was really cool to explore. Smaller than I thought but still cool and what a view from the top. I love that it's underrated because it means we can get in with no problems and no huge crowds like St Pete or Treasure Island 😊 Still want to camp there hopefully sometime next year.
What kind of amateur video certainly does the personal cell phone and uses a map of the park instead of giving you like drone footage and historical information about this very interesting video but certainly amateur😮
This is our favorite beach in Florida! There is so much sealife. Dolphins, sharks, starfish, amazing seashells, and beautiful water. Not to mention sunsets like no other. The fort is fun for the kids and the pier always has action either with birds or fish being caught. We have even kayaked to Shell Key Island. Absolutely love this beach.
It is wonderful, I agree. Also, there is a ferry that takes you over to Egmont key which is really cool too! Thanks for checking out for us and leaving us feedback!
Great place to camp and explore, if you can ever book more than 1 or 2 days there, that park is always booked solid, you can occasionally get a Wednesday and Thursday. If you already haven't, you guys should check out Lovers Key State Park near Ft. Myers Beach and Bowmans Beach on Sanibel.
I would love to move to the Tampa St-Petersburg area. I am tired of the cost of living in California, my neighbors are spiteful and hateful, and nobody knows each other.
How do I live in Tampa and have never seen this?! I've been to this park a bunch but usually go to the first beach that has tons of people - never again. Can't wait to check this out! We also love Honeymoon Island State Park.
Take the shuttle from the Bay Pier inside Ft De Soto. You'll find a lighthouse, Forts, walking paths and another awesome beach there. Accessible by boat only. They do offer snorkel trips on the rocks there but June to December the water gets too green for a good snorkel. Last weekend we had a friendly Manatee swim up to our boat and say hi. Then drive up to Tarpon Springs and take the ferry out to Anclote Key for another great secluded beach! With your video I'm surprised how few boats were out at the sandbar. On a summer weekend there are hundreds of boats there!

Heading to Florida in the fall and will ad this to our one of our stops. Thanks for sharing your destinations. Curry Hammock in the keys is one of our favorites. It's very quiet and not too far from Key West for a fun day trip.

And I told Larry about the kite surfing so he’s up for it. Looks like no one was there? Perfect! Thanks for another great place to go, Alice

It is, its at the northern tip of it at that moment you are asking about.
We were just there yaesterday.
Thats great! Did you walk down to then end? Was it crowded?
So peaceful!😎🏖
Literally there was no one out at the point of it that day! Its a must do especially if you can hit it on a Mon or Tues!
