Best ammo channel since TN9 outdoors stopped. There are a few orher good ones. But you're the most consistent and non biased
This is true.
Appreciate that.😎👊
Another great job, neighbor 👍
TN9 outdoors is back
@@calebsrccrawlers he posted a quick clip but he said he's pretty much retired in the comments
Getting a magnum round when you're worried about overpenetration is kind of like driving a jet dragster in a school zone because you're worried about breaking the speed limit.
Amen to that!😎👍
I'm a safe and responsible gun owner that abides by established firearm safety rules, so I'm not worried about over penetration.
Not necessarily. A faster bullet can expand more lessening the penetration. Especially if the projectile is designed to expand or fragment easily or is light in weight. A 180 grain 44 Magnum hollowpoint can barely get enough penetration it expands so violently compared to the 240 grainers.
@@guyontheinternet8891 Your comparison of two different rounds for .44 Magnum is really irrelevant. You're just comparing a lighter, faster round to a slower and heavier round. They're still both magnum rounds.
But yes, there are certainly cases where a non-magnum round can penetrate better, but it often has to do with the design of the rounds. A .38 Special FMJ round can certainly penetrate more than a .357 Magnum hollow point of the same weight. Many .38 Special hollow points won't even expand, as the round often doesn't reach the expansion threshold of the bullet. You could also have things like a .22 Magnum TNT that is designed to fragment, and will often have only a few inches of penetration, because it's what it was designed to do. They'll break apart so quickly that pretty much any .22 long rifle ammo will penetrate more. My comment (from over a year ago... I don't even remember the video...) was a generalization. It isn't hard to come up with specifics that defy a generalization.
357mag is one of my fav calibers. I remember looking at my dad's 357 hollow points as a kid and thinking how cool they looked lol.
One of the more fun rounds for me.😎👍
I too used to love looking at my dad's ammo when I was a kid. Awesome memories.
I too use to look at my dad's ammo.
@@timt8029what's even cooler is when you have your Daddy's or paw Paw's gun that you shot with them!!! Keeps them alive to you!!! Buried my grandpa in November and sometimes I still can't believe he's gone, but I hold that pistol and think of him, and I smile even though I'm crying!!!
I like the way those bullets expanded. I think they are more suitable for hunting than self defense. Very deep penetration, and good retained weight. Great outdoorsman loads when camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting.👍👍👍
Agreed.😎👍
Why do you think hunting requirements are so much different from defense requirements?
@@MTMILITIAMAN7.62 several reasons…1. The goal in hunting is to get the quickest kill possible. The goal in self defense is to stop the attack.
2. When hunting you absolutely want an exit wound to aid in following the blood trail. In self defense, a bullet that exits the target has the potential to injure an innocent person. 3. In a hunting situation, the game animal is not shooting back at you, so a quick follow up shot is not as critical. In a self defense situation, the ability to get back on target very quickly could save your life. 4. A mag dump almost never happens with non-dangerous game animals. In a self defense situation, it is common for panic and adrenaline to take over and a mag dump will occur, which means that stray bullets are being sprayed all over the place. In a hunting situation that is not usually a problem, but in a self defense situation, that could very well land you in prison for the rest of your life. 5. In a hunting situation having a big dose of extra killing power with devastating wounds is perfectly fine. In a self defense situation, the prosecuting attorney and the jury will think otherwise. 6. Hunting situations don't involve lawyers, judges, and juries. Self defense situations will. Even if law enforcement determines that you did nothing wrong, the family of the attacker will file a civil lawsuit against you which could ruin you financially, get you some terrible local publicity, possibly cost you your job, and even your freedom. So here is my advice….you better make damn sure that before you shoot an attacker, you know exactly where that bullet is going, you were just trying to save your life by stopping the attack, and immediately call 911. If you are the first one to report the incident, it will play better for you.
@@MTMILITIAMAN7.62cause they’re sissies that’s why
Back in the day Clint said the 44 mag was the most powerful handgun in the world
It's a thumper.😎👊
I love my .357. A great caliber only limited by the quality of the ammo you use. Thanks for these videos.
😎👊
Thought I felt the house vibrate earlier today. Now I know why.
😬👊🇺🇸
💥😆💥
I personally prefer exit wounds whether hunting or defense. Exit wounds bleed a lot more than entrance wounds which makes it easier to track. Before I retired from the PD I was able to track wounded people on a couple of occasions. One was a victim, on another they ended up being the defendant in court.
Battle of the original hand cannons of my youth and it looks like thier still effective!
Yessir 😎👍
Some great testing and performance today, truly appreciate the effort involved to inform people.
Thank you sir.😎👍
Excellent video. They both did way better than I was thinking they would.
Thank you sir. Same here.
These are some pretty tame loadings of each cartridge. I was expecting 1400fps from the 357 and 1300 from the 44 magnum.
Yeah, little more speed would do em good.😎👍
The porting and barrel length also play a big factor, those are 3 inch barrels at most (4 inch barrels but not considering the extra inch of integral porting, I’d say 1400 out of the 44 magnum at least with a 5 inch barrel, even better with a 6 inch.
@@ernestocuello2709 All good points, fair assessment. Totally overlooked the ported barrels.
Awesome info as usual I’m a 357 guy but that 44 is a stud also
Thank you sir. Definitely a little powerhouse.
Good tests, I'm a .357 revolver kind of guy!!!! Thanks!!
😎👊
Thank you for all of the hard work, brother. Awesome video, as always.
Thank you sir.😎👊
That 44 magnum is awesome.
It'll definitely leave a mark.😎👍
Both rounds performed pretty well, both would be good in the woods for 2 or 4 legged creatures. They go a little deeper than I prefer for bump in the night rounds. Thanks for another awesome test Tool!
Appreciate ya, my friend!
The 357 should be over 1300 plus out of that Taurus barrel
Yeah, they weren't very spicy.
Very good results from both. Thanks for the video.👍👍
Thank you, my friend!
its good to see some ammo inc. stuff do well. Thank you

Love the video can’t wait for the next ammo hunt.
Thank you sir. Should be a good one this week.😎👍
Love the videos keep em coming they are very entertaining and informative
Really appreciate that!😎👍
Interesting results Tools. Both rounds seemed to expand very nicely with massive penetration. As you said that amount of penetration could be excessive in some cases and of no concern in others. Everyone needs to make up their mind on that issue.
Be vigilant and always be safe my friend.
Absolutely.😎👍
👍👍 pretty good results, thanks tools appreciate the videos
Thank you as always, my friend!😎👊
I have a Taurus 608 with the 8 3/8ths inch barrel, and a Ruger super Blackhawk 44 mag with a 7.5 inch barrel!!! I also have a Taurus m66 6 shot with a 4 inch barrel from the 80's, and the cool thing is that the original sales receipt from 1989 is in the box!!! It used to be my Grandpa's pistol!!! I also have a Rossi m720 44 special covert from that same time period as it's an interarms Rossi!!! Those are amazing carry pistols as it's a 3 inch stainless 44 special with a factory bobbed hammer and a very nice double action only trigger!!!
My 44 is what sleeps next to me at night. It was my grandpas, something about it makes me feel safe 😉
I got some of the 125gr .357 in that brand,They shot 1289fps to 1385 out of 6" S&W. At paper target. Thanks for the demo, now I have realistic idea of what performance to expect.👍
😎👊
Excellent comparison Tools!!😎👍🏻
Thank you sir.😎👊
My favorite channel by far. Another great test buddy.

They both did very nice. I have shot some AMMO INC. ammo and it seems to work well. For me. Thanks for the video and test.
Works for me.😎👍
Some good looking ammo always enjoy your videos great job as usual 👍
Thank you sir. Appreciate you!😎👊
Love the content! I’ll stick with my hand loads for my .357, got it at just over 1300 fps with a 158gr xtp out of a 1 7/8” barrel SP101
Thank you sir. That's the way it outta be.😎👍
I love my Taurus 605 .357 magnum 2” barrel snub nose. I like to laugh at people that say snub nose pistols have no velocity or accuracy!! The truth is a snub nose .357 magnum still shoots with greater velocity & energy than a 9mm +P out of a 4” barrel.

Nice video, good comparison between the two magnum cartridges…subbed your channel! Bye now from Holland 🌷
Thanks tools 👍 I've seen these starting to show up in the local hardware stores that also sell guns. Been wondering about them.
Not too shabby. Probably really good from a rifle.
Both of those would take some wind out of a sails , thanks for sharing the power
Yes indeed.😎👍
The ammo inc 357 mag rounds I had seemed anemic. However the showing in the gel was better than I had expected.
Yeah, they give up some power but did well.😎👍
Great job as always. I have a feeling your subscriber numbers are going to explode soon.
Thank you sir.
Best channel for reviews hands down 👌
I have always said that if I could only have one tool to face the apocalypse, it would be a quality stainless 357 (probably 6” vs 4” for more hunting capabilities). Can do just about anything well just by adjusting the ammo.
Thanks buddy for all of your work and valuable information.
Love me some good .357.😎👍
Thanks for another great video. I love the wheel guns ard these are two of my favorite calibers.
Fun stuff 😎👍
I know you said the .357 was like a marshmallow after shooting the .44 so just to keep yourself up to snuff you need to have a day at the range with all the big boys the .460 the .500 and the BFR just to remind yourself, we would not want you to get soft😅 Have a good one brother see you on the next one.
Were you watching me?😲 I did one more video after this one, and there's a "good chance" it was one of those.😆
I thought the second one was going to knock the jelly off the table. Good job
😎👊
Very nice. Gotta see these tested out of carbines next!
Lots of power to spare, to be sure. I can't help but think that they'd be even better with different projectiles, though. In any case, those'll definitely get the job done on 2 or 4 legged troubles.
Yessir.😎👍
Another good jelly test Really enjoy watching them Tools Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Appreciate you, sir!
Look at that beautiful Sunny day you've got there, I just cleared off 7" of heavy wet snow yesterday morning here in Wisconsin. I've got the exact same 357 magnum model 608. Love that thing. So much so, I bought the identical matching 44 magnum. Amo inc. sure overrated that ammo, by quite a bit.
Another great video! Thanks for posting.
This 608 is a great gun. Everybody that I let shoot it, loves it.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets I loan mine to a buddy every year when he runs bear bait in northern Wisconsin, he wants it too, but alas, it goes to one of my nephews when I can no longer use it. Thanks for the response, many youtubers never respond, too many.

Well, you did it again. Another great video sir. I’m wondering how these would do in a rifle.
Thank you sir. Will have to find out.😎👍
Great test I've never owned a 357 love the 44
Thank you sir.😎👊
Great video. All of this information helps me make better informed choices in ammo and tools.
I was leaning towards the Taurus 627 tracker with the ported barrel. I like the 3” 605 size. Looks like if I don’t mind a 5 shot revolver I’m just as good with the 605. If I’m shooting at a 4 legged predator, I doubt I’m getting off 7 shots. Thanks again.
Thank you sir.
Love my wheel guns carry them majority of time especially my 41 titanium Nice test buddy good on ya 😉
Thank you sir.😎👍
Another great one buddy.
Thank you, my friend!
I wonder how they'd do out of 6-inch barrels.
I've been looking at some longer .44 mag revolvers lately.😎👍
As usual, great video, I'm always expecting good stuff and you always deliver. I know you are a big fan of Punch 22LR, did you ever test it against the old Federal Spitfire, 31 grain copper plated HP at 1500 fps 22LR? I wish I can send you a few boxes of it, but in the Kingdom of NY all ammo transactions have to be done through FFL dealer, including mailing. I hope you have some of them, or maybe some other viewers can send you some to test it?
Thank you sir. I think I may have some that were sent to me.😎👍
Excellent video!
Thank you sir.😎👊
Great video the Hornady gold dot 180 grain .44 magnum. Is a bit tamer and from 7 yards. Usually stays around the 18" mark. But as we know, the criminal can suddenly be noticed. At 10 feet away or closer, example armed thieves. In an isle in a gas station. Making a 1 to 3 yard shot test accurately realistic. Will represent a more real life distance.
🤔
Those look great. I think your right about the velocities listed probably being from a rifle. A great future test maybe. Yes?
Gotta happen.😎👍
Great video like those classic magnum
Thank you sir.😎👊
Those two rounds perform well but my choice is still the Remington 158 grain jacketed hollow-point for 357 44 magnum is just plain bad with any round that's a powerful bullet as always thanks for the video
Yeah, these definitely wouldn't be my top choice.😎👍
TOOL..!!!! ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO .... !!!!!! OUTSTANDING PENETRATION ...!!!!! MUCH APPRECIATION THESE VIDEOS ... !!!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND $$$ TO MAKE THESE VIDEOS ....!!!!! DOUBLE G. HERE ...!!!!
Thank you, brother! Hope you had a great weekend!
They've expanded very similar to what we see when we handload with Hornady XTP bullets at the same velocity.
😎👍

Changed my mind on ammo inc. will try some now. Those are no bs

I have a box of fmj ammo inc. 44 mag that i'm not sure they didn't overload. Big boom, big recoil, borderline scary. Maybe they load all of them that way. I like it.
Pretty sure I have some of their TMJ, but not sure if I've shot any.🤔
Check the lot number with their website, they had a recall on some boxes, blew up my new model 29
@@daveheyn5740 I was aware of that. None of mine matched, but it doesn't mean something didn't slip through. But I've bought several boxes since then and they all seem pretty hot too.

Thank you sir. Appreciate that.😎👊
I miss my blued Ruger 4-34" 357. I've been thinking about going and trading in my Ruger 57 for a good .357. I just miss a quality wheel gun. The Taurus 608 would be where I'd start at as well.
Speaking of 5.7, I was looking at the S&W one at my local shop. That thing has one of the worst shaped and feeling grip on any pistol I have held.
@@ToolsandTargets I've heard that as well. The Ruger probably has the best ergonomics out of all of them, including the PSA.
I honestly didn't know Taurus had a .44 magnum, I've seen you fire the 608 before and that looks like a keeper. I've got the 7-shot, Taurus 66, which is basically a 686 clone (6" version) and .38s feel like 22lr coming out of that sucker, very fun shooting .357 out of it, recoil is still there, but it doesn't feel much harsher than shooting a heavy 9mm from my G2C, therefore very manageable. Overall, both rounds look like they'd get the job done in a defense situation, granted we're dealing with heavyweights so anything coming out of em' would pack a punch, but good to see they expand well.
Yeah this 608 is so heavy, even the .357 feels like .22lr half the time.😆
I’ve run about 70 rounds of the Ammo Inc TMC through my .44 mag Desert Eagle. Not one problem
I have a box of it but haven't tried any that I can remember.😎👍
I just tested the 240gr tmc Ammo Inc rounds and they were pretty hot. I was very impressed. Ironically, the same brand in .45 colt hit about 600 fps average out of my 7.5 inch super redhawk. Very anemic.
Nice wound tracts ..wonder how these would do out of a 2 in barrel ..great test tools
Thank you sir. I think I tested the .357 out of a 2" and they didn't do too great.
I can imagine they didn't ...probably need that longer barrel
That was great performance for both of them! I wonder how much more they would’ve opened up if they got close to the advertised velocity. I wouldn’t hesitate to use these for porky pig 🐖 for sure. Great test my friend! Best on RUclips. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Probably great from rifles. Appreciate that, brother!😎👊

Impressive results from both. That 44mag would be a great round for the 4 legged creatures. Would be nice to see out of a lever action. Appreciate what you do. 🇺🇸
Thank you sir.🤠👍
Naturally I expected the 44 mag to win out, but I didn't really expect the 44 mag to more than double the wound channel of the 357. It is generally thought that a high quality self defense round against other humans, example being a Hornady Critical Defense would not be a good choice against larger tougher animals for lack of penetration. I'd think a common fmj would do better on large tough animals, Plenty of penetration but no expansion. But the ammo inc has lots of penetration as well as some expansion, sort of a good medium. I've shot some of the ammo inc 9mm jhp through my Taurus g3. I had one one water filled milk jug so no way to catch the bullet but at a distance of about 5 yards it jumped the jug about a foot in the air, popped the cap and peeled the entire jug out into one long sheet of plastic lol. That's good enough for me and the price was only $9 a box of 20 compared to a dollar a round of the Hornady. It's money well spent
It's a shame SAAMI spects got lowered on 357 Magnum, it used to be 1,500 fps.
Good stuff T&T !!!
😎👊
That 44 had that jelly burping and farting! Lol
😆😆😆
That ammo inc. has a good showing.

great test tools...as far as the penetration goes... times being as they are that can work to ones advantage if by chance the "thing" one is shooting at has soft armor on the blunt force impact of one of these rounds is still going to cause damage and pain if not penetrate said armor..so for me that makes me like these rounds and i wouldn't mind finding some for my 41 mag...also where i live {down the road from you] only thing i got to worry bout is just making sure i don't hit my dogs [not that they might take care of it before me ,rotties and pits] anything else is fair game...yeah the sticks...lol S.W.
