You're right about the feeling of guilt. I was on Leppings Lane directly behind the goal and my dad asked if we could move. I didn't want to move and we argued about it. But it was packed and I gave in. We exited via the tunnel and went to one of the side pens. Had that decision not been made, there would've been two extra people in the crush that day.

I came here and watched this again after getting a notification of someone "plus oneing" my other comment and at the risk of getting all romantic about the beautiful game it really is as if the 96 said "Nah, 1-0 to Liverpool, that's not good enough, this needs to be a classic cup final, let's have a scrambled equaliser in the last seconds to set it up!" God, I remember Grobbelaar going ballistic with one of his defenders when Liverpool seemed on the ropes (I think it was at 2-2) and thinking "Everton have got them here!". Almost like it was scripted though in the end, Beautiful! :)

Kendall and Harvey kept their faith in players that should've been sold on and they should've built a new midfield with Mccall. Not replacing our mid 80s successful players with quality sooner was the mistake. Ratcliffe should've been binned years b4 89.

@@thewatchman9540 Exactly. He wasn't playing with the same quality of players. I've think you've lost sight of my original point, but also reinforced it! Ratcliffe and the doddering others from previous successful seasons were the issue, not Mccall being incapable of matching Reid and Bracewell's intermittent past success! And it's worth adding that Bracewell was poor in this game. In fact, once Whitehurst had smashed Bracewell he never returned to his best (Keegan period aside) and wasn't good enough for a side that should've aimed for leagues titles again.

It was absolutely ridiculous to see those morons invading the pitch. Had they not the brains to realise that the fences around football stadia had been built because of people constantly running onto the pitch in earlier times. And just a month earlier 95 people had died because of those fences! True football fans had said after Hillsborough that the fences must all be removed but many people said if that happens then there will be idiots running onto the pitch and attacking players and officials. These idiots showed just why those fences were needed. They hadn’t an ounce or respect for those who died. However it was good to hear many decent fans in the stadium booing and shouting “off”.

And the KAGS didn't run on at the end, before the final whistle and straight after it? Have you watched the footage all the way through?
