Nigerians ability to switch accents is INCREDIBLE

OKAAAAYYYYY! You get mind ohh! Haha! Im Haitian 🇭🇹 and yeah, I’m protective of my slangs. I watch plenty of Naija movie since 12 years old sooo... I know the meanings of all of these 😬😂
I agree, but seriously. I find this so cringey

Agree. She drives me crazy in Insecure, but love her true spirit.
I totally agree. I'm definitely a fan.
I agree. In love.
Of course boo! She's nigerian!
So half of Nigerian slang is finding a nicer way of telling people, that they need to reevaluate their life, and what they are doing.
It's really sarcastic and layered.

The way she pronounces these slangs. She definitely never forgot the accent. Except of course the pronunciation of olodo. But she's really good. Love this
That pronunciation of olodo really threw me off 😂😂😂
There were certain pronunciation that were mad!! OLODO AND AMEBO come on..
How do you say it?

Literally nobody says olodo like that. Not in Nigeria.
I have always loved your accent! Always ❤️
"They're English words because you know colonization." 🤣🤣🤣
B L O O P 👀
That one right there!!!! HAHAHAHAH I died!!!!!
No, they’re mostly English words cause that way any tribe could understand them.
@@docrakidocraki8067 Which happened because the country was colonized. Wake up.
Ashley Williams the “country” wasn’t colonized. Frankly Nigeria isn’t a real country, it’s an artificial state. You can think of Nigeria as a mini continent with different languages and cultures, religions. Now granted of course English is spoken there because of the British occupancy in the region but “Nigeria” wouldn’t even be a thing if not for the British which is unfortunate.
Shine ur eye could also mean be aware , don’t let urself be duped .
That's very correct😂
Right! That’s what I thought it meant!
Exactly!
That's how it's mostly used. U are absolutely on point.

"Shine your eye" in a more traditional sense simply means "Stay woke". This applies to every situation beyond finding a partner at a function. It means, be alert, be cautious, use your judgement.
Exactly!
Thank you!
Well said, that's the best interpretation 👌. You too much, abeg you too Sabi!👋🏾👋🏾😄
Yep!! 🇳🇬🇳🇬🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yes! Stay woke is the best explanation. Like don't dull yourself.
“You are a worker of iniquity! An enemy of progress!” Brilliant 😂❤
“I love that these are English words because - colonization - but we’ve just made them our own.” Whewwww let em know sis! 🇳🇬
"Sabi" means "to know" or "to know how to", just as "to know" is "saber" in Portuguese. The Portuguese influenced the naming of Lagos
@Laura Nwogu yeah I've always found it so interesting that "saber" has taken so many different iterations in different languages, but still means the same thing!
Not all.olodo, tufiakwa etc are native words
I smiled through the whole thing! Nigerians and Jamaicans are so similar.🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Naija pidgin has a lot of parallels to Jamo patois. E.g. pikin and pikney mean child
Silmaril Lord I agree. Even their mannerisms are alike
Yes. Nigerians, Ghanaians and Jamaicans are very similar in foods, culture, dance, and speech!
Nigerians and Jamaicans are cousins, so naturally much the lingo is similar. I love to say this to both and watch them deny 😂
We’re literally cousins!! 🥳
I LOVE how confident Nigerians are!!!!
We Nigerians can switch accents at the snap of your finger
I love it. But my boyfriend isn’t as clear as the woman are. He’s so quiet and mumbles. I need to learn their alphabet and lingo with the body language

So trueee!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I’m laughing like that now
It’s beautiful and makes me so happy!
some people in the comments need to let her live, she’s not gonna say the Yoruba slangs perfectly cos she’s NOT Yoruba... allow her na
Actually, you could guess how long she's ever been in Nigeria just by the pronunciation.she don't have to be yoruba to get those accents right
wavy bxtz I disagree but okay
I am not yoruba, and I can pronounce those words, the issue with the pronunciation is not with her tribe but mostly that she didn't live in Nigeria for long, so it's expected
favour olewuenyi but that’s not true because I’m not Yoruba either and I don’t live in Nigeria but I can pronounce them and I know many people that can, my point is that it’s NOT natural to her and she’s obviously around enough Nigerian people to know the rest of what she’s speaking about
@@Elisha0401 you said the she can't pronounce because she is not yoruba, that's what I replied to
Olodo literally means “The Owner of Zero”. Like zero on a test, exam or life in general in some cases.

Im noticing this about most of their sayings. Black Americans have a variation of most of these.
Basically yes lol
No it’s not, it is usually use to address strange behaviors
david chiazor A well-played American Southerner’s “bless your heart” is a passive-aggressive dis when someone is acting wrong or strange. For instance, showing up to a formal wedding in jeans. It sounds kind, but it is super judgmental and mean.

Love!!!! A Ghanaian would stand by and defend a Kenyan and South African before considering her Naija friend, in public space and on social media, but carry on with their friendship. Nigerians on the other hand can fight another Nigerian for a Ghanian or any other African country for the sake of friendship. While others judge us and talk us down at every giving opportunity, we are not quick to judge and generalise. We are free spirited and easy to forgive and very very accomodating. This is not for all Ghanaians, call it my personal experience/ opinion.
