Hello friends today I’m sharing my updated VHS and DVD collection. I took an area of our partially finished basement to store them and it ended up looking a bit like an old school video rental store so I went with it. Some day when we renovate the basement I’m thinking of having custom shelves installed, but for now this is functional 😊

I want someone to make an actual store, like rent out movies and such, so everyone can enjoy the collection, maybe rent out devices or offer video showings at the house with rentals/purchases.

Love the VHS collection - I had a huge VHS collection back in the day but now they’re all DVD Blu-ray and 4k - so miss video tapes

My brother agrees with MGM is favorite studio as well when ever we look for movies he’s always on the look out for the MGM logo . On the spine . Breakfast a Tiffany’s is one Jeremy my bro’s favorite he’s seen three times once on the big screen .

i kinda admire the way that you had managed to recreate the video store look and feel in a section of your home
i have been watching similar videos where other people that have Much larger spaces for video store rooms
its interesting how you have each movie lined up by studio and genre

You’re telling me that is in your personal house. What a great job you did! It does look like one of those old video stores. Yes, very cool! I almost skipped this video since, as I mentioned before, I have never watched very much tv or watched many movies. However, recently I have been watching shows on Netflix and I noticed most of my favorites were filmed in Canada (like Ann with an E). You did a great job with your snack area too. I see that you have “The Fifth Element” and I do believe that is the video my son watched so, so many times. I always called it the naked girl movie.
Thank you 😊 Yes a lot of movies and tv shows are filmed in Canada I think because they have some incentive programs/get a tax breaks. I’ve actually never seen the fifth element before so I have no idea what it’s even about lol

This is one of the most impressive collections I've seen, I am very envious! I'm an older millennial and some of my happiest memories are of going to the video store to rent a vhs tape. Mostly I used independents but once in a blue moon my mother would take me out of our little suburbia and into the "big town" so I could have a treat going to Blockbusters which was mindblowing to child me with the size of the store and all the extra things you could buy like snacks and merch. Great memories. If I had the space I'd certainl be collecting these myself. Anyway, loved watching this. It's quite AMSR as well which I enjoy.

that was super cool I've been browsing through a lot of peoples youtube videos on home/basement video stores and yours was very nice. the atmosphere was clean neatly arranged you guys did a great job .
in my opinion if you watch movies that were made to be on vhs during its time line you'll notice a difference compared to the blu ray or stream version . i thought at first maybe its just me but the more browsing i do into other peoples opinions everyone has said something very similar.
for example i was watching big trouble in little china on vhs and im like this movie is so great im going to get a blu ray version of it ..... once i got it and watched it .... wasnt as great.....
but yeah hope you and your husband keep up the great work ! was very entertaining to watch .

Amazing! You really hit the ball out of the park, Jamie 👍 This really took me back to going to Blockbuster on the weekends. It would often take us so long to choose a movie but it was so much fun to browse and decide on a movie. It was a whole experience and, I agree, it doesn't really compare to streaming. 📽

There's just something about watching those low rez VHS tapes on an old grainy box of a TV. Like entering a time machine. I miss it sometimes.
Haha yes the best is when the tape is messed up and the picture & sound is briefly distorted 😂 also the previews 🥰
@@VintageVibesJamie For sure, heavy use only made them better. Gave them character when those black lines showed up on the movie. Prob doesn't make much sense to the new kids, but you had to be there to appreciate it. Appreciate the retro throwback.
