I got a GFX50S to replace my medium format film cameras (Pentax 67, Mamiya 645) and it did exactly that. I can get identical results. It’s worth every penny and there isn’t really any sensible argument against that unless you simply love scanning film.
GFX50s is a decent camera, given irs price. It does produce very nice looking colour. Its Dynamic Range, however altough good, is nothing like a film. Kodak Vision 3 250D in ECN-2 Chemicals has more than 15 stops of dynamic range and Kodak Portra 400 in C41 about 14 stops. GFX has 11.7 stops of Dynamic Range as confirmed in Imaging Resource tests. A Nikon D850 has a claimed Dynamic Range of 14.2 Stops, but in real world it approaches about 13, which incidentally is about the same as the latest Hasselblads . I have no idea what a PhaseOne produces, as I consider them irrelevant to 99.999% of photographers, because of the asking price . The photographs though, were very nice. Thanks you.
Yeah it’s a great camera for the price. The file is just so big that it has more flexibility in post to manipulate so it feels like it has more dynamic range than it has. Thank you!
Absolutely, the more data you have , the more scope for post editing. Also the size of the sensor matters a lot, much the same as the size of the film does. @@chipxhazard
I was very surprised about your described experiences with distortions on aps-c, full frame and medium format with a specific focal length that equals the same field of view, for example 23, 35 and 45 depending on the sensor size. I really need to try this with the 27mm f2.8 lens on my fuji x-h1, compared to the 40mm f2.5G lens on my Sony a7sII 😮
How many shots are shaky when shooting in such dimm light situations? I guess it has no stabilisation right? And that sensor will show every vibration of the hand or is is not the problem without tripod?
It doesn’t have ibis but I can get regular steady shots around 1/15 shutter speed. That’s usually good enough for dimm lighting. To me it hasn’t been an issue

That’s awesome! Yeah it’s a beast of a camera!
Thanks for your exposé. I have two GFX50s's and the new GFX50Sll and love that sensor so much!
Thank you! Yeah it’s a great sensor!
The Gfx 100 and 100s are 16 bit. The 50s and 50sii are 14bit.
Sry you’re right. I accidentally bundled them together. Thank you for clarifying 🙏🏽

Yeah it really changes how you view things. Field of view is a pretty crazy topic. Maybe I’ll do a video on it haha
@@chipxhazard Great idea. Have you used ISO 50 while shooting? Can you recommend it?
@Whodini6likesSharpGF I have and I wouldn’t recommend shooting it
what filters do you have on the 50 lens here?
There was a 5% cinebloom filter on it
The 50s and S II only have 14-bit RAW…
Yep!
