Seonghwa did originally audition as a rapper. At one point, about becoming a vocalist, he said something like they had Mingi and Hongjoong. It's so fun that this was his idea (Hongjoong said Seonghwa is the leader of Matz so he did what the leader wanted😊) and I love seeing the development of rapper Seonghwa.
I know, that everyone (including me) is freaking out over rapper Seonghwa(!!!), but I would like to especially mention Hongjoong's awesome parts in this song! He's such a GREAT rapper ❤🔥

A fact I think is fun is apparently initially the team was thinking of a more emotional melodic kind of song for this duo and Seonghwa was actually the one who proposed doing this kind of song instead. The two of them are so bold and creative and frankly funny. This song and video are hard, but with a tinge of humor that keeps it grounded. I think my fav section of the video is the part from Seonghwa's money rap through Hongjoong's "you can be busy too" line. It's shot SO well, the lighting and the delivery and the attitude all come together magnificently there.
The humor is such and underrated but important part of this song! That tinge of cheeky/ silly-ness is what helps keep this song from veering too far into braggy territory and keeps it grounded
if i remember correctly seonghwa has been officially a rapper since like… the dreamers japanese release when mingi was on hiatus. if we remember the season songs collab with kim jongkook, the be my lover music video had the three in the rap line together

Even when he's just talking to the camera or getting ready he sort of stayed in his role. I think he took his 'acting' in this MV very seriously, especially cause they really wanted to contrast each other (HJ being the hype little gremlin hehe), he stayed in the zone almost throughout. And I really respect that, so interesting to see tho since he's usually our soft, sweet gentleman^^
I always love your ateez reactions! When the group did a video reacting to the bouncy MV, one member mentions the rap line and seonghwa says "am I in the rap line?" And hongjoong says "yes! You are" so at this point, that's what I go by :)
